So quick update about how my BR is doing.

I've deposited what was left on BV (126.66€) to William Hill and got 20€ free first time deposit bonus which is pretty nice BR boost. I've lost 3€ on black jack because I got 10€ casino bonus and for some reason it was at first only using that money when I played casino games and later it started to take my real money... So I basically started with 143.66€. I have 200% bonus which is clearing really fast and im running really good so everything is going really well Smile

Here is the graph from the first day of playing:

Like I said im running really good.... Exept with aces... im down like 5€ over 8 aces played Cheeky So far it seems its harder here than on BetVictor but much more fun. Im playing 2 tables but I think I'll increase the number this week if everything is going well. So far I havent tilted yet, but im still having trouble taking some more time to make a decision, I sometimes just make quick decisions even though I have alot of time left. Right now im only playing 2 tables so im going to set daily goal to 2k hands per day for now.

Breakeven day today. Reached handgoal for the day. I had some interesting spots today.

Do you guys ever fold here? He called preflop, Flop went: check, check, Turn: Bet, Call, River: Shove, call. He shoved J9s Laugh I mean obviously if you fold its exploitable but does he ever bluff there? I called because I had no info on the guy and I was thinking like maybe hes just a fish, or maybe he thinks I dont ever have an ace high flush because I checked back flop so maybe just maybe he bluffs sometimes but idk anyway if its close it doesnt matter that much since a spot like this doesnt happen that often and "how meaningful your mistakes are is a function of the frequency of how often you get into that situation" (copied from the Mersenneary Heads Up Poker book lol I have some quotes like this saved in my Notepad Cheeky )

I think I'll add a table tomorrow so the hand goal for tomorrow is 3k

helllllllll yes i call PDDS mate - people do dumb shit. Don;t think he always shows up with the J9s here everytime or even enough of the time. I would not even flinch and call and the max reaction he would get from me if he did have it is a chuckle.

Big downswing today. Also didnt reach handgoal. Winning small pots losing big ones :/ ... I went through hand history and through every big pot I played and I havent really seen any big mistakes. In total my mistakes in total were worth 1 BI at most in my opinion. The good thing is even though im running horribly im not tilting at all for now. Also getting alot of bonus money from WH deal.... I feel like I have 200% rakeback right now Laugh

Anyway here is my sad graph Sad

Tomorrow my handgoal is 3k again. Hopefully I make it this time.

Week 3

I dont know why but everytime before the weekly update I have the worst session ever. Im on a huge downsing right now, biggest one by far. It started once I went from playing 2 tables of zoom to 4 tables. I went through most of my history reviewed the hands and obviously at this point of downswing im making mistakes, lots of them. I mean alot of the big hands were still just coolers and nothing I can do about that but I still did tons of mistakes, not big mistakes though just small ones in my opinion. I still think the main reason for the big downsing are coolers but the small mistakes adding up are also a part of it for sure. Main reason for making those small mistakes is playing too many tables in my opinion. Im going to decrease the number of tables again and I'll also be moving back to 888 poker. There are 2 reasons for that: 1. If im going to play low amount of zoom tables I might aswel just play 6 regular tables (easy to open, always running, still less fun but not bad) 2. If im going to play 6 regular tables the best site for that is 888 poker in my opinion. I mean the only reason I started playing zoom tables is they are extremely fun in my opinion but I dont think its worth the winrate difference. Most of my money was made on 888 poker before this challenge and I loved it. So yeah im moving sites again DullDullDull

Are you guys ready for the sickest graph ever? Laugh

I think the graph already shows that there are big leaks in my play. The red line is nowhere near where it should be so I'll be working on that abit more. I also have LIKE 45% fold to 3bet which is too low so I have to fold too many hands on the flop after 3bet and its one of the reasons for bad redline.

The good news is that even though I had the biggest downswing ever im still up money for the week because of the bonuses and rb. Here is how much is being cashed out right now:

I also forgot to mention I didnt tilt at all this week even though Im on a big downswing. Next week the main focus is on improvement. I'll be posting daily goals once my money is transfered.

@Jon-PokerVIP I dont know which hands to post to be honest and I dont want to spam. I'd prefer posting a video of me reviewing my handhistory, but am I even allowed to do that ? because no1 is doing it. I also signed up for your video review. It would help alot as im having trouble finding my leaks.

Sure man will get the video sorted asap! Will reply to the line check thread shortly and send you all the details. IMO tho you should post as many hands as you need to in the line check area...coaches reply, members reply and its just a great way of learning....why do 25% of what you could do and not 100%? Sure it will help but that is just my 2 pence

Day 15

Bankroll successfully moved. It went really fast, I had to wait less than a day. Starting with ~150$ at 888 Poker. I've already played today and it went really well (finally). I've been mixing between playing regular tables and snap fold tables which seem much softer here than on William hill and regular tables are obviously one of the softest you can find. I played 4NL regular tables and 5NL snap fold. I need 5$ more to move up to 6NL regular tables.

Graph:

Red line looks pretty good at the moment hopefully it stays this way. So far I've been really loving the snap fold tables because they seem much softer here. If I can maintain a winrate above 10bb/100 I Will continue playing them otherwise I'll just play regular tables. Goal for tomorrow: 2k hands

Damn cant edit anymore. I meant Day 22 Cheeky

Day 23

Havent played much today, Im just too sleepy and I still have to go to gym so I'll probably just fall asleep after that.

Graph:
Attached Image

Running bad while running super good, hopefully I can keep 10bb/100+ winrate else im just moving to regular tables (atm at 32bb/100 but that means nothing in a small sample like this ). Red line still looks fine, but its still a very small sample so cant really say much but I think its definitely better than before. I also started playing abit more loose than before. I think its working better because players play so tight in snap fold games. I'll update this blog weekly instead of daily from now on, unless I feel like it. Setting weekly goals next week.

Read through all of your blog, great stuff! I started playing myself 1 month ago, decided to play 2nl until $120, then 5nl. Went from $15 to $70 in a week, felt like a genius, then dropped really hard to like $35. Went on tilt, played some 5nl Zoom, and ended up with $4.70 left.

Played two $1 Spin&Go's and lost, had $2.70 left. Played 2nl for 40sec, got it up to $3 and decided that I',m going to play just one last poker game, a $3 Spin&Go and quit poker. The multiplier came x4, and I won $12. This gave me some hope, but from that moment I realised I had 6 entire BI for 2nl, and decided not to blow it.

After a week of studying by reading forums, watching twitch and hand-crafting a crazy Pokertracker HUD I started to grind, but on regular 6max, not Zoom.

Guess what, after two weeks I just finished a session with $62, and realised I am only $8 away from my all-time-high; 3min later I discovered I have a bonus available as a form of rakeback, $10. That put me $2 ahead of my initial hot run record, but this time - steadily, slowly, patiently, the money really feels well deserved. I am playing 4 6max tables, trying to absorb as much info as possible, I am actually enjoying it more that I did clicking 4 zoom tables 1100 hands/h. At first it felt boring, but once I engaged in analysing particular situations, it's very motivating.

By the way, why are you not playing PokerStars? I noticed you're moving around different poker rooms, and all those first time bonuses do seem enticing, and I have heard that many have much softer fields than PokerStars. However, I like the interface, I trust it and, most of all, I can't imagine giving up all the info (notes + hand history) I've accumulated, which often gives me the edge.

Will definitely keep following your blog, keep it up! Handshake

@dodger hahahah thats awesome man Laugh I remember when I first started playing, I deposited like 30$ on full tilt, read like half of the book (just opening ranges) and I thought im good enough to play. I dropped to like 8$ and decided to study post flop poker more and from then on it only went up Smile It was really hard for me at first I because I didnt know how to approach post flop game. Right now what I think is the best way to understand post flop is you have to balance ranges and exploit people in spots you think they are unbalanced. At higher stakes people are more balanced so there are less spots to exploit but on lower stakes its pretty easy to do so. I reccomend you read the book called "Applications of no limit holdem" its a book about game theory and it helped me alot. Solving spots and applying them in game is what makes the game fun for me right now. I hate boring grinding where I just play auto pilot so +1 for playing less tables and focusing on correct decisions. You can still increase the amount of tables really slowly after you get better at the game. If you saw my previous post you could see I went on a sick downswing after going from 2 zoom tables to 4. Part of it was variance but I think I played worse aswel. So moved back to 2 zoom tables and its going insanely well right now (37bb/100 EV winrate atm lol, but having a 3k sample doesnt tell shit, I could still be only winning at like 5bb/100 here or even losing but I doubt that). Variance is pretty annoying so stick to a good bankroll management, its really important. Never play stakes you dont have bankroll for. Im using 30BI BR strategy which is in my opinion pretty good, but using more is not bad aswel (just to be safe and not risk).

Pokerstars is a great site, but I find 888 poker zoom tables alot easier to beat and I love playing zoom. Regular tables are also much easier on 888, alot of grinders stay away from them because the rakeback at 888 poker is bad and you can only play 6 tables here so your going to find alot of fishy players here. I dont reccomend playing zoom tables on pokerstars because the difference in winrate between zoom and regular tables there is too big in my opinion. You should table select as much as possible, which should be pretty easy as you are playing only 4 tables. So far after trying alot of sites my picks for most enjoyable games (fun to play + good money): 1. 888 poker (regular + zoom tables), 2. Pokerstars (regular tables). Alot of sites are softer than pokerstars on average, but they are boring, have low traffic and if you table select on stars you can get pretty close to winrate on other sites. So yeah, staying at pokerstars is good choice in my opinion.

Thanks for following and good luck at your games Smile

EDIT: Also forgot to ask if you know the upcoming changes on pokerstars, heard they are decreasing rakeback and some say its going to make the site way worse, so this might be a reason for you to move to other sites.

You are so lucky to have found a site like this so earlier in your poker career! Pokerstars is great for tournaments but for a cash game grinder there is so so much we miss out on! Softer fields, Rake back and the rake race are essential to making profit in this game. I grinded the sit & goes on stars for about 5 years and when I seen the light I realised I had basically wasted 5 years playing a game that leads to a dead end. Try to forget about their awesome software and think about all the other perks you miss out on

I have to say though, I only have experience playing microstakes (mostly played up to 10nl and some 20nl) so I cant talk about other stakes at all. Good rakeback deal and rake races are more important once you move up in stakes, games might also be much easier on other sites but like I said, I have no experience playing those stakes, so I wouldnt mind checking out othersites once you move up in stakes abit. In my experience, playing the stakes I mentioned, I made most of my money at 888 poker. Thats all I can say Cheeky

I was actually reading through the second chapter of that book just yesterday! It seems thorough, but maybe a little more technical than I would expect. These kind of passages don't help it to be an easy read:

Attached Image

I understand that these are not to be remembered, but merely to understand a point, yet these calcualtions are there every 4-5 pages. I will keep reading though for now.

I have heard of the PokerStars changes, apparently it mostly affects 100nl+, where the rake is much higher, everything lower is same. However, I don't know if there are any changes to the 3rd party software coming in too, hope not. For example, I heard PartyPoker is prohibiting the use of HUDs and such
https://www.cardschat.com/news/partypoker-and-pokerstars-limit-third-party-software-for-players-15593.

I am understandably tempted by softer fields. I think I will see how I get on with 5nl, once I get rolled for it, and perhaps give another site a shot at a moment when I'm moving levels. The logic here is that although, no doubt, there are players who play both adjacent levels (or happen to move up at the same time), the player pool will be fairly new, so might aswell just give it a shot on another poker room and see how I get on.

Omg instead of "Submit" I misclicked the SIGN UP banner below and had a mini heart attack that I just lost all of my reply. Luckily it was still there when I clicked Back. phew
