I am following with interest mate but I am a complete noob / fish so my input will be minimal and of zero value.

Good luck!!

I've just read this thread @HulmeArch and I'll definitely tune in for the future updates. Your plan is ambitious, but it looks like you're in a great position to accomplish your goals. Good luck and keep us posted!

If a plan isn't ambitious is it even a plan at all?

Jon-PokerVIP: If a plan isn't ambitious is it even a plan at all?

Haha exactly! Although sadly, had a 4 BI losing session yesterday so BR back down to $2200. Pretty tilting - lost 3 stacks on coinflips, which accounts for 75% of the losses, but probably played a bit poorly the rest of the session trying to 'catch up'. Anyway, going to try a different poker room, 888 is kind of fishy but the RB/VIP system is laughable. Anyone got any recommendations?

Cheers

Oh yea, in the spirit of the thread, here is yesterday's carcrash. It was actually slightly worse as I played a few hands of untracked snap too. Crying

Great session - exactly what I needed after yesterday's abomination. So happy with the way I played - focused on two main things. Upping the aggression postflop and folding the river when I suspect I'm beat. Often I have a habit of clicking call when a draw comes in (oh I called 2 streets with 2 pair, may as well call three lol) and I check back too many flops IP and x/f OOP too often. Both of those things worked very well and I can only pinpoint 2 hands where I wasn't happy with how I played.

Here is the biggest hand of the session and not sure how I played it. Thoughts? Will post in the line check forum too

...aaaand backdown to $2428. More grinding to do before I take the shot - couldn't resit playing a few hours of snap on my laptop at NL50 - how annoying.
Posted 6 years ago*
So had another losing session at NL50 - some of the calldowns with 3rd pair, Ace hi, getting rivered by 4 outers etc were just too much so I took the NL 100 shot earlier.

I actually prefer it, players think about decisions rather than button clicking and you bluffs go through more easily etc. Session was break even but should have been up, stacked off AK v AJ against a fish and lost a big pot. Overall though pretty happy with how I played, just 2 tabling so not huge volume. Will continue with the NL100 shot until I dip below $2000!

Had such a busy few days barely got chance to play! Had a ridiculously short session at $NL100 where I 2 tabled and thought a lot about every decision and it went well

Hands: 228

Result: +$191

Bankroll: $2238 ( decided to cash some money out and play with $2k for NL 100 - also have some untracked hands which boost it a bit.

Obviously no one reads these or the line check forums it seems but if anyone has any thoughts on the hand I'd appreciate it. Felt nitty but couldn't face 2 more barrels and a raise felt spewy. Villain is like 18/12 tight player.

I'd be tempted to float on the flop, or even raise and see what he does and re-assess the turn. Small bet
Posted 6 years ago
Are you still playing on 888 btw?? We can get you off there ASAP! I'll send you a message tomorrow and we can chat about getting you playing somewhere much better with much better returns
Posted 6 years ago
Yes still on 888 and would love some recommendations! Doesn't seem to be anywhere that is HUD friendly and will pay rakeback, even Party has this weird anonymous HUD thing going on. So yea PM me mate that would be good

So another very short session but a good one...

Hands: 305

Result: +$68

Again pretty happy with how I played except this hand. I called river expecting to be shown a flush but just clicked anyway - lo and behold he's rivered a flush. I checked back flop to keep pot small as board is pretty dry and I have the gutshot as well, should I have bet it instead? AP should I fold river? THis dude is like 35/28 80% C-bet,100% probe turn type player

This is solely me as a noob and in micros but for what it is worth I would have bet the flop with the check to me and the gutshot draw / top pair. No need to give a free card to the potential flush draw on the board (at that point spades)

I don't know if it would have helped though. He would probably have called, he had a small pair and a gut shot draw plus a back door flush draw. I don't see him folding to what, a half / two third pot bet?

I don't know if I could have folded the river with the AA but then the straight and flushes on the board... maybe.

Sorry not much help but this is my first ever reply to a hand review Laugh

Enjoying following your thread btw.

I think this is a spot where I would go bet/bet/check behind. We have position so we close the action. I kind of understand wanting to check some hands behind for balance or whatever, but not sure I would do it with this combo. You don't block any of the spades, or diamonds for that matter, so makes it more likely he can have those so you want to get calue and protection for those. You do have TP and a gutter, but it is on the weakish side of things and kind of vulnerable. For those reasons, I think I would just bet 1/2 pot on flop, 1/2 pot on turn and check behind the river. If he donks the river, its typically an easy fold. I haven't found too many people who are leading rivers, when a flush comes in, as a bluff. Most guys sub 100NL are not balanced at all in a spot like that so its pretty easy to just lay it down there if he leads river.

As played I think I would just be calling. Because of how you played it you kind of have to call. Essentially, you checked back the flop so you could bluff catch and let him stab randomly for 2 streets and pick it off. Sure the the flush came in, but it is a backdoor, so I am probably calling and saying good for you if you runner runnered your flush. Although, there are not many logical bluffs for him, that he wouldn't have already bet on the flop, other than some KQ QT kind of hands. Guess it depends on whether or not he would bet worse for value, like some Jx or if he is just gonna stab 2 streets with nothing figuring you are weak since you checked back flop.

Agree with both above ^^ Should have bet flop but not terrible not to IMO

Anyway another good, short session at NL100, got tilted about half way through because of the folloiwng hand, but a win is a win. I mean, why not call a 3 bet pre and your whole stack on an OESD? Laugh Seems sensible

Wow that is unlucky mate! 1 - that he called and 2 that he rivered you with so little outs.

Guess those breaks happen and on the positive side you will have noted down a player you will be wanting to sit to the left of going forward

^ Yea man, just annoying but in the long term that's where you make money.

Another short session, slightly tipsy after a casino visit (lol just lol at live 'poker') was up against it pretty much the whole way but managed to turn it around right at 4am, which was when I was due to quit, so was slightly in profit, which is nice.

Hands: 470

Could/should have been a better session if not for this one awful hand. I'm going to post it here because I played it embarrassingly badly and I don't want to do something similar in future - so please do tell me what a big fish I am so I won't be tempted to spew like this again. This was early in the session (like hand 25) too when I was most drunk Beer
