Floorman (floorwoman)

A floorman, or floorwoman, is a mid-level manager who manages and monitors poker games. They can have several duties including settling rules issues that may come up during a game. In addition, they can be called on to help get players seated as well as keeping the clock if a player asks that another player be "put on the clock" because of prolonged slow play.

One of the more important tasks the floorman, or floorwoman, performs is to keep the games in motion. A game can stall if there is a dispute or if a ruling needs to be made. If the dealer is not able to make a ruling, the floorman is called upon to do so. The floorperson's ruling must be accepted. As you might imagine, a floorman must be very knowledgeable about the rules of the game as well as the house rules.
