Play behind

In the cash games, players are sometimes allowed to 'play behind', with the money that's not actually at the table. Most often this situation arises while player is waiting for the chips to come to the table and instead of holding the game until the chips come, player is allowed to 'play behind'.

Sometimes players will also agree to allow someone to 'play behind' with the money that he doesn't actually have on him, but they know he is good for it.
