4nl 8nl worth it?

Posted 8 years ago

guys just got back into the swing of things over here in Australia... had a good start back grinding 4nl 8nl and a bit of 10nl on sky. but the last two days have been AWFUL, obviously lots of fish on sky i mean lots!!! i seem to play really bad at 4nl and 8nl, but theres a massive difference with 10nl i feel like theres more poker involved and your seeing most flops heads up and i have been winning more at 10nl. But i dont have the bankroll for 10nl and im really struggling to build it!! for example, you face a limped pot you make it 4x and they all call!!! you miss you have to give up and pick a better spot!.

any advice with these low stakes would be great ..

thanks in advance

I used to think this about the games at 888. It can be very frustrating at times but the best strategy is to play very tight and go or heavy value every time you hit a hand, they'll call you down with any piece! DON'T BLUFF! When you have a premium hand, instead of isolating to 4x, go even bigger 5x+, they won't even notice sizing tells. Exploit to the max

yep i rarely ever bluff at these stakes.. its just so annoying at these stakes.. i feel far much better at 10nl i feel i have an edge! im going to have to get even tighter i guess colly! its just very hard to build a roll through these stakes unless you just deposit x amount and jump straight into 10nl and above.

thanks for advice Smile

Another tip is be very careful isolating! Only do it in position and if there's tight players left to act behind. I had a big leak of isolating pretty wide when I see a limper without thinking of other important factors

At 10NL, it's a lot easier to put people on ranges but harder to extract value. I definitely know what you mean about 2-5NL though, fold equity is basically non existent so it's hard to play the solid winning strategy that is taught

Take lots of notes, LOTS. When someone limp-calls, mark it. When someone overcalls after you isolate, mark it. Then make sure you're catching every showdown and update the notes with what they're doing it with. Pretty soon you'll have reads on every player at the table and know exactly what to do when player x limps, and player y calls. I felt the same when I started on Sky, unsure how to respond to the crazy-bad play going on (see my last coaching video for how not to do it!), but pretty soon I realised I just needed to pay close attention and make sure every play is right based on the reads I have.

Oh, and I look forward to seeing you at the tables. What's your screen name?

Ok so basically if you are rolled for 10nl on sky yes play that and forget 4nl and maybe even 8nl.....playing bigger is always more fun but there is plenty of money to be made in those games. But if you don't like them then don't play them Smile

So how to beat the micros on Sky......Watch these 5 videos Smile . The first 4 parts are playing a mix of 4nl-30nl where I discuss the games in depth and show the most profitable lines to take. The last is a review of @jongordon84 playing 4nl!
