Converting from zoom to Hudless 6-max

Posted 7 years ago

Does anyone know where I can find some videos or articles on this?

I struggle with:
1. Keeping concentration when action is slow
2. keeping track of players stats
3. Knowing who and who not to bluff
4. Knowing how many tables to play

All of these are sort of linked. To help maintain concentration I could increase tables but that means I have worse reads and don't have time to make good notes and adjust. If I decrease tables I get really bored and it's still hard to keep tabs on people because you don't get too many showdowns; so I'm constantly watching hands I'm not in and not really benefiting from watching the action as it's often not showndown.

The players seem really bad though so I was thinking mabe I should just play tight and let my redline plumit, not bluffing much. But then that lowers my expectation aganisnt those who do fold.

@Jon-PokerVIP might be able to help. There was a period of time where he was making a lot of videos where he was playing without a HUD and probably still does. Can't say that he uses note taking in the videos and gives tips in those regards, but more so, uses his experience along with lines and textures and sizing tells to make exploitative plays. Essentially, someone does something so he thinks a certain way about them then he continues to watch them and play and if they do more things that confirm his initial read then he will play a certain way against them.

Without a hud I don't see much value in playing more than 4 tables to be able to make proper notes and categories players as regs, fish, recs.

As for the bored thing, are you playing poker for leisure or to make good money? If it's the latter then you should focus on 4 tables and embrace the boredom. If for leisure, then crack open a few more tables.

Well my advice is to play higher.........

WTF is Jon a degen or whattttttttt?

Well yes and no. Quite simply you will be playing on a softer site, have way less variance than zoom, it will help you keep concentration, rewards will clear quicker and say you have played 25nl Zoom on Stars for a while then wellllllll you should be able to beat 50nl on Unibet or wherever it is you are.

Guess that actually makes a lot of sense. The only issue is, I'm proven at 25nl zoom and semi-proven at 50nl zoom/full ring.

Like I crush 20&25nl zoom and speed fold for like 10bb/100 over 30k hands

but then the 30k hands at 50nl. I was making my money through rakeback on Ipoker (80% full ring), although Rake is high and supposedly lots of bots in their ring games. I played 4k hands on zoom 6.6bb/10 so fairly small sample there.

Do you still reckon I should be ok to play 100nl? on N8 or other soft sites with these stats? Certainly would help concentration levels and my games improved significantly over the last few weeks with much more GTO flop raising and checking frequencies.

as you can see the trend is I suck at ring games haha and 50nl I'm a bit of a rakeback whore but to be fair rake is high on ipoker and bots are much better than racreationals.

I would say you would do well yeah just be smart with the bankroll and play your A game. Maybe mix 50 and 100 to start. Couple tables of each

100nl will be a big jump IMO, would maybe focus on 50nl and work on your game. Both sample sizes you posted are very small and does not give a clear indication of much. If you lose 3-4 buys ins at 100nl you may go on mega-tilt as you'll not be used to losing so much money in a short period of time.

Less is really more, I improve the most when I play fewer tables. If you get bored then take better notes and train your brain to accept boredom, or listen to a podcast while playing.

Cheers for the advice @Harvie What kind of stakes do you play btw? Interested to hear if this is your expeirence moving up to 100nl or what you've heard from other players/forums.

I don't really play that much anymore, only for fun. But when I was playing for a living I was 4-8 tabling 100nl. The more tables I played the lower my win rate was, it was as simple as that.

As a poker player you always want action so want to play more tables but in hindsight I wish I never played more than 4 tables ever, I'd have gotten so much better and moved up a lot faster.

When you move to 100nl a lot of regs are playing full time and their comes from poker, so it's not a cakewalk.
