Grinding a bankroll with sng's? or other format?

Posted 7 years ago

So Im trying to build a bankroll, got 50 dollas, and I tried to build one previously with husng ended up break evenish but kind of took a break got a bit discouraged for quite a while previous to this I played sng's and was doing okay found it easier, still just above break even but wasnt playing for too long consistantly.

Ive watched the vid on poker vip, just refreshing my memory, I have icmizer subscription, watched a fair few video packs in the past on husng.

I had some shove fold charts lost them and forgot them, but I understand the concepts.

Are sng's the best way to go, if so how can I get better? And where are some good resources beyond the few videos here on poker vip? there doesnt seem that many.

Yo @francisbakn welcome to the forum first of all.....how are you?

As for SnGs I am not the best person to answer them as they are pretty much the only form of poker I have not grinded for long lengths of time however like anything in poker these can be beaten and it will just come down to the stakes you play and of course how good are you.

Which site/stakes are you thinking about playing?

Hello @francisbakn

SNGs are good way to build bankroll. In cash game you need to know much consept but with good push fold and ICM play you can easyly crush them. Collin Moshman's book really helped me 3 years ago. In my opınıon start with 9man non turbo sngs and try to crush them. Do math with calling ranges. You can easly crush them if you make enough work.

I'm not sure about HU SnG, but all the rest have seen a massive decline in traffic over the last five years, and it might be more difficult than you think to get in respectable volume to grind up a decent roll.

I'm probably biased, but I think cash games are the way to go with all forms of tournament poker used as a way to take shots and of course for fun.

While all formats have their great players, there's no argument that cash game play is the most sophisticated poker out there, and will help you the most to becoming a more complete player.
