How many tables do you guys play at the same time?

Posted 8 years ago

I've recently made my switch from Zoom to regular tables. Currently starting out with 4, I am curious to find out how many tables do you guys play at the same time.

I am playing between 8 and 12 when playing tournaments. 6 if I am playing 6max cash and 2 if I am playing HU.

I'm playing between 6-8 tables cash NLHE I find that's my sweet spot. If I start adding more my decision making becomes rushed and sloppy.

I used to play as many as possible and would always max out basically but i was very heavily rake back grinding which was super profitable but now i am older, slower and not as smart plus play higher stakes and multiple sites than i did back then i now play 4-6 and sometimes find myself even on 2-3.

x4 FR Zoom tables has been my standard for the last 4 years. Before that it was x6 6Max reg tables on Ongame.
I did spend 4-5 months with x4 FR Zoom and x12 reg tables on Stars for about 2000 hands/hr but was burnt out after that and my win rate plummeted until I went back to Zoom only.

I don't think it's fun anymore to be getting in as many hands as possible, it kills the enjoyment stone dead. Maybe that's an age thing, I'm now 38, who knows.

One thing about tables is obviously the reason to play more tables is to win more money as you play more hands and have a certain win rate or rakeback etc. But many people do not actually calculate the difference.

Also many are just to stubborn to step back and think about it properly. I used to be hell bent on our staked players hitting 30k hands which i feel many could do 6 tabling but now i want them on 4 honestly. I think less hands but concentrating more is the future and as a team this change and ofc their hardwork is creating good monthly profits now.

It's a tough one to way up and like everything it comes down to trial, error, mindset and sample sizes!

I play 6max on sky poker and due to the fact that the timer is generally quick with no time bank and also the fact that there is no hud so generally we need to concentrate more on all villains actual play i find it hard to play more than 6 tables ... I feel am at my best with 4 tables.

Although i do see some people playing like 10 -12 tables on there and i have no idea how they do it!

This idea of 4 tabling might well be the future if we see a complete turn around with all add-on software packages including HUDs banned. Most players won't be able to multitable past 4 tables as they've become so reliant on HUD stats. There's an entire generation of poker players that have become reasonably skilled without picking up the basics of obvservation and noting solid reads.

Are there any other sites other than 888 which actually limit how many tables you can have open? I know you can play across multiple platforms, but that's never ideal for your eyes to be constantly adjusting to things being in different places.

What are 888's limits? All sites have limits but are usually 12, 15, 24 tables max. I once saw Stan James introduce 4 tables maximum for a while but they soon opened that up to 6 and then back up to 15 after everyone bailed to different skins.

I was never big on multi-tabling and from my experience people constantly overestimate their ability when it comes to playing on multiple tables at the same time which leads them to -EV decisions. I can handle 10-12 tournament tables, but when it comes to cash games I never play more than 6-8 regular ones or more than 3-4 speed/zoom/rush tables.

I can handle 4 regular tables or 2 speed tables comfortably. For me it depends on the amount of time we get to act. I play Bovada which allows 30 seconds to act on the regular tables and the speed tables allow 15 seconds. I've played Carbon and their timer is 15-20 seconds on the regular tables, so I could only handle 2-3 comfortably. I'd rather have a few extra seconds to think through a decision rather than just clicking buttons because the timer is going to run out.

Last I heard it was only 6 tables. I'm not sure if that's cash tables alone and you can add other formats into your volume.

I agree with Cookie Monster! I believe my best decisions are made when 4 tabling reg or 2 tabling speed. A big deal for me is the size of the tables on screen, I hate when theyre very small. Anything more than 6 one one screen would be a pain for me

It's fine on 4 tables when you have 1-2 playable hands, but when you are playing 3-4 hands at the same time, the extra few seconds is really helpful.

I play 12-15 tables on stars regular 6 max tables.
Anymore, without software such as table ninja, it becomes too chaotic for me.

I play 4 cash tables cause I'm limited to that on Bovada =-(
Or 1 HUSNG table since I just started that format.

@Jon-PokerVIP Haha, what do you mean you are not as smart as you used to? Doesn't wisdom come with age? =-)

Haha wisdom yes for sure...i am more likely to look both ways twice now when crossing a road. However i do now have the problem of forgetting many things.

6 Max cash 3-8 tables, although I find 5 tables gives me the most enjoyment. But if there is a whale or manic on I will drop back to 1-2 tables if he's on them found that to be very good for the win rate.

9 tables
9 max sit and go ore 9 max cg

12 tables 6 max on Stars

I think that everybody needs to find what's good for them...balance between wr and volume...I am personal better at 12 tables then playing 4 tables as I get bored and start leveling at 4 tables...but when I shoot next limit I always start with 4-6 tables to make a notes on players and to check if I can beat that limit.
