How to memorise charts ?

Posted 8 years ago

Upswing Poker engine provided me with really great preflop charts however I feel over whelemed by them.
Couse besides opening ranges by position which I am famliar with they have action and reaction from each position vs every position.
For example when you open from UTG which hands to to play wehn you get 3b from mp and sb for example and so on and so on.
I feel like its imposible task to memorise all of that so if anyone has any advice how to get it in the head please share.
Cheers

It is deffs not impossible and is something a lot of players have done including myself and a lot of our staked players. It looks overwhelming I know at first but it does just become something you memorise naturally.

So best thing to do is print them out and have stuck to your desk or on your wall in front of you whenever you play. Just continually check them if you are in doubt.

Hi Jon .Thx for your help.
I have a program where I put them in by positions and when I need them they are click of the btn away, however I figured out that they dont go in my head and I am in constant need of checking those out so to say.
It looks like this :

I have mine in flopzilla while I play, after a while I know most positions and it just my 3b v positions I don't know really well. Also, all preflop charts are just guides so I wouldn't be stressing out if I can't remember every spot Smile

Yeh having on flopzilla and just pulling them up when you need them to check works also or even as a desktop background. Essentially just anyway you can have them in your face and available for anytime you need to check them

"Repetitio est mater studiorum" Smile There's no way around it - you'll just have to spend some time with those charts and then practice them at the table. Categorizing hands in your memory (pairs, suited, broadway cards etc.) might help as can paying attention to the best and worst combos for certain action in your ranges, but ultimately you'll just get it with time.

You can cheat around having that many charts. Use snipping tool (or w/e) skills, and create smth like BB ULTIMATE screen. This way I have just 5 charts, and therefore it's easier to memorize them with vision memory.

Think I heard of something called the zen poker dojo. Basically you put all your ranges in it and then it quizzes you on them. I never used it but looked pretty decent. I think it has a free trial
