I want to get better - Help needed

Posted 7 years ago

Hi Guys,

Because on my old thread I get almost no response and so I opened a new one.

Want to use it as a kind of knowledge Database for me and hope I get more help from People like Matt Ranger or Joshk81 and other People who like PLO.

I have many questions about Open Raises/Calling Range/Position/how to handle extrem Loose Players/Move up in Limits/how to get stats with low gap when I call at Loose Tables and many more.

Will also post many hands to find leaks in my Postflop Game.

Hope I get many replys to my questions.

Here is my first question.

Read the Thread from Matt Ranger (but it was written 4 years ago) about the Open Raises at special Positions. It said following:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

UTG:

BBBB, NNNNss, ANNNas, AKNNds, AKQxds, AAxx, AKKxss, KK65ss +, KKBBr +, AQQxas +, QQxxds, 9988 +, TT98ss +, T988ss +, JTT9ss +, JJT8ds +, QQ98ss +, QQT8ss +, QJT9r +, A987as +, 9876ss +, T976ss +, T986ss +, QT98ds
MP:

All of the above plus KK54ss +, QQBBss, QT98ss, QT98ss, J987ds, A876as, 9875ss, 9865ss, JJ98ds, 9987ss, 9877ss, T998ss

Also play any BBBBds hand (paired or not)
CO:

All of the above and add BBBxds, KKxx, QQ76ss +, A88xas +, 5566 +, 4567ss +, 5567ss +, 7765ss +, 8776ss +, A456as +, K765ks +, 9765ss +, 8654ds +, 9976ss +,TT86ss +, 9986ss + JT9xss +, T98xds +, QJ9xds +, QT9xds +

Also play any BBBBss hand (paired or not)

BTN:

All of the above and add BBBxss, QQxx, A66xas +, A234as +, 2345ss +, 4455 +, 3567ss +, 4456ss +, 6654ss +, 7643ss +, K654ks +, 7754ss+, 8864ss +, J98xds +, 876xss+, 456xds +
SB:

Start out same UTG, you then add hands slowly going up the positions in the chart depending on how much the BB reacts (if he 3bets light, uses positional advantage postflop, etc.). Note that you should be doing the same thing for the other position depending on what you know of the people left to act behind you (especially the BTN and CO).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I understand it that EP Tighter and BTN wider. But now the Problem. If I play Micros then normally only UTG counts with this list. Cause latest the MP Player limps or Raises first and this list is only for RFI right? What to do If I am f.e. at the CO and 1 or 2 Player before limp or OR before. Should I then take the same hands here shown as Calling List or should I 3-bet it? Or should I fold then the most of this hands or only use UTG Hands to Raise?
I saw that Isolation is def. not Possible at the Micros cause if I Raise then hands to Isolate weak Players I get 3 or 4 Callings from all Positions after me and also from all before me.
And If I use it as Calling List then I never get stats like 26/20 or 25/19 cause I have to call then the most of them and so the PFR will getting Low (and I get stats like 25/10 or much worst).

How to handle this?

So what kind of hand should I call then in Later Positions?

Handreading or setting Villains on Ranges is also not possible cause the most Player there have stats more than 50 VPIP.

Hope I get many answers to my Questions. Happy

PLO is a significantly more complicated game than holdem.

Having effectively a hand range opening chart is useful when you are starting out as it will cap how open you play relative to your position and reduce instances where you make some poor preflop decisions that compound.

I started writing a response to this but it got very very tangled, and there were a lot of ifs, buts, maybes, and statements that effectively contradicted themselves. This is the nature of plo. The game is much much more open. There are situations where a hand you may 3 bet in one spot is a fold to a single raise in another.

I would suggest downloading screen capture software like camtasia, recording your sessions, watching them yourself, or organising sweat sessions with people over skype.

I have done a lot of sweat sessions and very much enjoy them. PM me here if this interests you, then we can skype each other to sort out a time that suits us both, and I will rail (watch) you play and provide input where I think it would be useful.
