Yup OBS is good.

OBS is a good option. If you're looking for something easier to set-up try CamStudio. If you have modern Nvidia GPU there's a feature in your driver app called ShadowPlay which is another free option.

OBS is best in my opinion

By far the best we have ever used and costs $15 per year!

It doesn't do anything fancy but for screen recording and basic editing it is the nuts.
