To all PLO Players out there

Posted 8 years ago

Hi Guys ....

tried to find some treats where I can discuss PLO Strategies. I did not found. So I open this new treat now to hopefully get some help from PLO Players who play PLO right now.

First, my Name is Thorsten and I play Poker since 2 1/2 years now. Played a lot on Pokerstars the last 2 years (more for fun). Started to play NLH Cash (only played NL2-NL25). Then I tourned to SNG and MTT.

Since beginning of the year I get coaching Programm from Nick Wealthall. And from this time I only play NLH at MTT. But I started to play PLO Cash (I find it´s more action and it makes more fun to me). On Pokerstars I played PLO Zoom most of time and this worked very good for me (beat the PLO2/PLO5/PLO10 Games).

Now I want to start serious making Money of it. And because of this I need a little bit help from you all ...

Over POKER VIP I came to Betfair now. Try to clear my Bonus there and also earn some extra Money through Rakeback (35%) to boost the Bankroll and then get to other sides to get more Bonus (and with this more Bankroll). Smile

Now where I need help: On Betfair there is only PLO4/PLO10/PLO20 Tables at the Micros. I played a style like 25/19/6 on Pokerstars (but this was Zoom). Now at the Cash Tables noone played Tight (like in Zoom). There almost everyone has Stats VPIP over 50 % and there will Limped and Call a lot with almost every hand (also any 4 without suits). So you will always play Multiwaypots with 3 or more Villains. The Way they play is something like "I call with everything Pre- and then look what my hand made". It seems that noone (also the Multitabler there) have any Gameplan. But It´s very difficult to Play against this typ of Players (cause there is no Isoltate Bet or similar possible - everybody in the round calls the Reraise)

What is the best way to Play in such kind of Spots?

I started to call more in Position (also with any 4) - almost no reraise Preflop - and also no pure bluffs IP.
But since this time my Fold on the Flop is how I find too high (almost 70%).
And I think this is not the right way to play. Or is 70% Fold on the Flop an acceptable Stat?

So what do you think?

Nice to see some PLO players in here!

I think your adjustments to ge games is bad. Playing your old style with less calling is much better. If you also get in to the groove of calling any 4 and just hoping to hit (70% fold to Cbet), where are you going to find your edge?

70% fold to cbet is not acceptable since you get auto exploited every time they cbet.

Play a more conservative preflop plan and this stat will drop automatically.

Good luck at the tables!

Hi Prostaker,

That´s right what you saying. It´s not the type of Play I prefer. I also know that I will get exploited on the Flop too much.

Change my Preflop Plan back to conservative. Should the other Players trying to find their Edge with calling or Limping any 4. Yes

Thanks for answer. I thought there are to less PLO Player out there cause here on Poker VIP are not much videos about PLO.

Hope with this Treat I can find some PLO Player where I can discuss some Situations and Hands.

Can you tell me where is some good traffic for PLO Tables (cause I find on Betfair is difficult to find the traffic I need for me)?
Where and what Level are you playing?

Greetings

I'm the manager for Prostaker.com. We are staking PLO players right now from NL20-NL2000. Post here and some of them will for sure help with answering your questions.

I play a little on pokerstars PLO50-PLO100 Zoom or at a Swedish site called svenska spel.

I like microgaming for microstakes, very good games and I know you can get a great deal with PokerVIP on Betvictor.

Just ship it in on the flop. We have good equity vs his range and there is no room for any manover on the turn.

Hi, in case you'd like to watch some cool strategy videos, here's 3 cool vids by KasinoKrime, our PLO head coach: PLO Strategy Vids

They include his awesome The core PLO Concepts video.

Feel free to check them out, let me know how you like them.

Sorry to derail the thread a bit, but hopefully the PLO guys find the videos helpful and interesting! Keep the discussion going!

Hero ????

Do I have enough Equity to Shove at this moment try to Isolate this Loose Agressiv Player especially if I think he has something with 97xx and with some Kombos like 9876 or JT97 or TT/88/66? Cause only against him (and thoughts for straight or set for him) I have Equity for round about 53 %.

Or only Call cause 2 Preflop Agressor after me (SB with Minraise and BB with 4 Bet) and try to save some Money for the next street.
But I think if only Call there can be an all-in from at least 1 Player after me.

Or should I fold Preflop cause Hand not suited and also with an A not well to play against a PreflopRaiser (and there where two) who probably has AAxx as Min 3-Bet or as 4 Bet here.

Thx for your thoughts.

@KreativJoker you really need to fold this hand PF. Holding the nut suit it's a good call PF, but this hand is going to be crushed by an UTG range way too often. You can't really hope for a much better flop than this with your hand and the money should be going in here.
Posted 8 years ago
Why would u wanna isolate him if you think he has the nuts? We have zero fold equity when you shove and currently we have zero showdown value. We have drawing hand and we are drawing to the nuts (especialy since is rainbow flop). So it doesnet matter if 1 or 10 players are in te pot, our chances of having nuts by the river are the same. So if one of the players behind also calls we have better odds. Also by just calling flop you can escape on bad turn (Th for example) and save yourself some money.

CO is loose fish, SB is a reg. I tried to iso loose fish and ended up totally confused on the flop. And what I mean by that is that I didn't have any idea what sizing should I use here! Big? Small? Check back?

Sb shouldn't hit this flop at all. But CO can have anything. Go small cause there is very likely they didn't hit? Go big for protection with medium strength hand?
Posted 8 years ago
SB's cold calling range shouldn't hit this board very well and you have a hand that still needs a lot of protection. CO can have some strong hands here since he's loose but you still need to bet. And even at 150bb deep I'd bet and stack off because of your OESD and having a heart blocker.

I'd c-bet $4.50
