Any USA players here? *crickets crickets*

Posted 8 years ago

Over my last few posts it seems to me that American players are anomalous wolves on PokerVIP. Starting this thread to reach out to any of you since we have specific barriers to overcome to play the game we love. Might be cool to share tips that we've learned to make it easier, for what is a limited player base for us. Or...I could just be starting this thread for an empty crowd...Bueller? Bueller?

US player here, in TX. I'm not in a state that prohibits playing so I'm okay. I stick to 5NL Bovada since it's soft. I'm working hard to fix my issues and raise my game and I'm not too concerned with moving up. So far I'm up $50-60 on 5NL Bovada (4BB/100 on zone and 13-14BB/100 on standard 6-max tables). My problem is that I need to play more! ACR is nice, but it's reg infested and it's just plain hard to get a seat since all the regs are multi-tabling trying to earn that RB. I keep up with some of the regulation news, hopefully legislation gains more traction over the coming months and year(s) so we can get access to more rooms. What rooms are you playing? Where are you located?

Sorry it took me so long PVIP had to fix a bug that wouldnt allow me to reply to posts.

I'm from Alabama man, and I play on ACR and you couldn't be more right about it being reg infested, there are tables that are almost exclusively dominated by a few select people at every level, the thing I've found is to just study there games and exploit them. BTW I made a new thread with the same topic in the Theory and Discussion board that may get more hits if you wanna join it and reply into that thread. That said how is Bovada's sng action? Can't seem to find a site with any sngs that play regularly, and I think MTT sngs are almost nonexistent. And YASSSS!! let's hope these ass backwards laws change fast...there are so many good poker sites we simply don't have access to.

Yup, ACR is a nice site if we could actually play on it. Juicy stakes has 36% RB and open to US players and I think Intertops also has 36% RB. Haven't tried them yet, but I think they're both pretty soft.

Bovada is super soft but no RB. I only play cash games there. The regular tables are good because they're super fish infested and they throw stacks around all day. I just switched back to Zone and I'm starting to crush those games too. Typically the zone/fast fold games are more reg infested, but these games are still soft. I'm getting about 400 hands/hour on zone. Zone is addicting. I think Bovada runs SNG's pretty regularly, but you'd have to check it out yourself. I don't have any recommendations for other SNG sites, sorry.

Yeah these laws are simply about taxation and Adelson trying to prohibit competition into the market place. His "morality stance" and coalition website is sickening. I don't like how some states are arguing against state run online sites because they "don't generate as much revenue as expected". If you want to generate tons of state revenue, online poker alone isn't going to be the magic pill, try legalizing weed or hookers first.

You might already know this but Bovada is anonymous. The only HUD's allowed are either the Bovada Card Catcher (PC only) or Holdem Indicator (PC/Mac). They might be helpful in your situation because you play SNG's. HUD's are useless for Zone, but can be helpful for the regular tables. However, if since it's anonymous, it won't keep stats if someone leaves the table. I don't use either and I'm doing just fine. If I play on another site I will add a HUD, but honestly I'm not used to them and I find them distracting. It's something I'll have to learn in the future if I add sites.
