Conor McGregor out of UFC 200

Posted 8 years agoEdited 8 years ago

If you haven't seen his latest Facebook status, you can read it here.

He basically stated that instead of going on tours to promote his fight, he wanted to stay at home away from the media and train for his next fight, which is fair enough I think given the reasons he stated in his statement.

After reading his comment, what does everyone think?

Is this the ultimate troll? What will do more for this fight - him running round the world or him tweeting once and then releasing this statement? #smartestathletealive?

So he's come out and said he's not retiring and it was all publicity.

Without that the world would have had no idea about this fight. Despite it having one of the biggest draws in the sport fighting. I'd love to know if it was the plan all along or is this being spun now he changed his mind

Think you gotta remember this may not be just about publicity

1) He shows that the UFC do not own him. This helps him negotiate better rates and also just shows UFC that he isn't their bitch and he is his own man - remember Bellator are paying incredddddddddible wages atm so yeh it puts him in a nice spot for sure.

2) Imagine the film, tv and endorsement offers he received when he put out that tweeet.....

Guy is smart imo.

If I could find a bookie to make a line for this, I'd bet plenty that he'll be there at 200. Everyone's got too much to lose, and more importantly, too much to gain.

Oh yeah he will definitely be there. No matter if smart, stupid or whatever he is fighting, and losing, to Diaz. Knockout is his only option. I reckon on the ground he is out of his depth against the bigger guy.

He may well make me look like an idiot however. MMA can be a bit of a leveller.

The main event of UFC 200 just got replaced by Cormier Vs. Jones which in my opinion is an even better fight than McGregor vs Diaz!

Boooooooooooooom

Bitter Sweet for sure

It should be a better fight, assuming Jnes looks much better than he did over the weekend. But I hate it whenever Dana White wins.

If he's anywhere near his best Jones should win but who knows how rusty he is. He could go in there all cocky like his striking is the bomb and get taken the ground and ruined vs Cormier.

I'm looking forward to the smack talk for this fight. I thought Jones was great before but I'm going to find it hard to have anything but negative feeling towards him now.

Yeah Mayweather v conor would be an utter joke.
