Not seen it, but heard its good, should I put it on my list?. Oh its Manchester By The Sea btw Laugh

Correct. And yes I think it was pretty damn excellent and I highly recommend it provided that you can appreciate cerebral, understated, naturalistic cinema. In other words, I think many people would find this movie boring so make sure you're in the mood for something that's not very action-heavy Smile

I am undoubtedly an intellectual snob, and I think @MattVIP and I would get along fine...as long as he lets me pick the movie. I gave up on Manchester after about 15 minutes.

@CycleVancouver Again I can see how many people - intellectuals even - can view the movie as painfully boring, they can't handle how real it is Smile To be completely serious I'm pretty sure that have I decided to watch it on a bad day I also would've quit after like 15 minutes. Naturalism comes at a price, in Manchester by the Sea characters stutter, make mistakes, hide their emotions and often don't make any sense - just like in life. You won't find a snappy Aaron Sorkin-style dialogue in this movie and I appreciate that because even though I like Sorkin (and similar style of writing in general) I find myself thinking every few minutes: "sure this is impressive, smooth and entertaining to watch but... nobody talks like that in real life". Manchester by the Sea is not a movie I'd like to watch every night or even every month, but it serves as a great palette clenser after watching a bunch of great, fun but heavily stylized films. Oh and I also think we'd get along well even though I don't consider myself a snob and I find the word 'intellectual' slightly dirty. I'd settle for picking every other movie Laugh

Yeh I like most kinda styles of films, not got around to the Oscar ones yet, because A. so much to get through these days with TV just being so amazing and B. I have to be in the mood for some of the Oscar type films, like this and Fences, Moonlight and Paterson, with the latter seeming similar to this film.

Clue: Matt as got himself a theme Laugh

Its gotta be the one about some soldiers dying to take a hill. Seemingly every other year there's one of these movies, and the Oscars people wet themselves to say how great it is. THEY'RE ALL THE SAME, SHEEPLE!

(Apparently I'm more of a prestige TV guy. I'll see myself out.)

You're obviously very close but, I still haven't heard the title so here's a clue:

i have no idea, but I did just see Loving on the airplane. True story about the interracial marriage in the 1950s that became a supreme court case in the USA. Most of the cats here, y'all will only see it under duress on a date night, but it is very good.

Also, it's kinda cute that you underestimated the abillity of a certain group of people to do something in the context of promoting a movie about discrimination Laugh I'm going to let you know what I think about "Loving" tomorrow or the day after. Oh and Joel Edgerton is a criminally underrated actor.

@CycleVancouver Jokes on you sir! Loving was great and I watched it alone under virtually no duress.

Ok, guys, I can't believe this one is so tough. Another clue: Attached Image

Because of this movie, Mel Gibson is now back in the spotlight after the incident that made him "give up his laker' tickets".

I already got this one, didn't I? I said, "Whatever the latest kill the enemy, save a buddy, take a hill" movie is out there. I can't believe that doesn't count. Wink

(I might even know the actual name of it but I don't want the pressure of having to pick the next one.)
Posted 7 years ago
I'm afraid I can't accept the answer that doesn't contain the actual title of a movie though I'm sure you'd handle the pressure of picking the next one just fine so I strongly encourage you to rethink your approach Laugh

I only know of Hacksaw Ridge(?) that is recent.
