Wake up and saw the stream of hate for Kahn as he got KO'd. Pretty much expected that (the hate, not the KO) from so many people, not seen the fight yet but been told Kahn was winning most rounds until the KO.

Yeah saw the highlights. He was doing great and even eaten a big shot early on and stayed up. He needed to not get hit for 12 rounds and he dropped his left hand for a second. Alvarez took the chance like the champion he is.

Golovkin next would be awesome vs Alvarez. Golovkin has been screwed by the politics of boxing. Dodged constantly because he is too good. He has said he'd fight anybody, anywhere at like 5 weights and still got no big names really.

Being a Sheffield lad I'm pro Kell Brook and the way Khans conducted himself over the past few years has been pretty shameful to be honest.
He's dodged Brook and chased the money instead- which yeah I can understand to a certain degree money talks etc but to fight Canelo who is two weights above was ridiculous. He wasnt even a champion himself.
And I totally agree with the GGG comments. That guys a machine and heavily avoided.
I love boxing and watch most TV fights but it's very political and the best don't always fight the best.
Anthony Crolla fight was brilliant - the atmosphere sounded electric!
Nice bloke too and pleased Fir him especially with what happened to him.

Yeah Khan vs Brook has to happen now. That whole 'Brook is not in my class' rubbish will have to stop. I think Khan might retire though.

Golovkin could be the best I've ever seen but I'd love him to have a good test as he's only fought guys who has no chance against him really. His chin is so good you don't even have the 'one lucky punch' angle if you are against him. His trainer once said he will be the best middleweight ever or the most dodged fighter ever. Latter so far.

@thetallpaul "golovkin is very good yes but he's way off being the greatest of all time:
Sugar Ray Robinson
Margin Hagler
Sugar ray Leonard
Tommy hearns
Roberto Duran (my all time favourite - great book - the man was an animal and unbeatable before moving up weights to fights Hagler etc).

These are real greats and were defined as greats because of the big fights.
Canelo v GGG is a great fight.
Mayweather v GGG would be awesome
He needs those kind of fights. It's a shame for him that it looks like people are dodging him

No totally agree. That's what I mean he could be the best but beating a load of rubbish mandatory challengers will never make it. He needs some defining showdowns. Canelo looks nailed on now. Could be awesome, with both having power and chins this could be a war. One of those old school 3 fight series where all you want to see is a rematch as soon as it's done.

My mate was saying today that the judges had Canelo winning the fight before the KO! I had him losing nearly all rounds.

Posted 8 years ago
Yeah I saw that too. Swiss one I heard had it 4-1 Canelo. If that's true he should be banned. Just ridiculous and lucky for him the knockout took it away. Imagine if Khan had kept it up and lost a split decision.

Boxing is one of most corrupt sports in the world. Not the doping I doubt like cycling, or the top level organised corruption of FIFA but for absolute bullshit top to bottom it wins. Such a shame as it's one of the purest possible sports too.

Well God Damn it Khan keep your bloody hands up - first rule of fighting!

Will never know why he keeps doing this to himself or what is next. So tiled.

Pauli Mallinaggi summarised the why of this one really well I thought. Basically his read on it (and Canelo said as much in the after fight as well) was that Canelo noticed that whenever he stepped in with aggression, especially on the left hook, Khan was using a stabbing sort of block jab to stall him and keep the distance while he circled away. With the killer one Canelo feinted a big shot with the left, drew the stabby jab and came in under it with the huge overhand right. Khan bought the feint completely and his left was still half out in the jab when Canelos right connected. Good night. Khan didn't leave his hands low or anything he just got drawn in and counterpunched beautifully. Very different to some of his earlier KO's where you felt it was cocky, petulant or careless. Here he was just done with an epic right hand.

As Fight Night games for 10 years have been telling me. "That's the sweet science, you make em miss, you make em pay". I'm Joe Tessitore at ringside and alongside me is Teddy Atlas.
