McGregor Vs Diaz UFC Thread

Posted 8 years ago

Soooooooo Dos pulls out over a bruised broken foot and Diaz steps in at short notice.

The fight was aimed at 155, Diaz wanted 165 so McG responded with "Lets make him comfortable and tell him 170". So right now thats a 25lb jump from Mc's last fight which is just mfkin insane tbh. Also Diaz is sooooo tall and incredible on the ground.

I hope its a brawl and Diaz is the type to bring a brawl.

Press conference highlights

I love both of these fighters and don't think i have ever not wanted Diaz to win but for this one I want McGregor to win and just continue to crush the UFC

Ohhh this is going to be HUGE!

I think this will be a big fight for McGregor taking a step up in weight, a 25lb weight increase is HUGE in fighting.

I'm actually looking forward more to the shit talking than the actual fight, looks like McGregor started the exchange better but Diaz finished well.

Style ups I think there's better matchups, but the build-up will be epic as they are both shit talkers and this fight will officially put UFC on the map globally.

I'm not sure who I'm rooting for, I really just hope it's a total war and both fight come out as winners and gain huge amounts of respect (want a 3r war over a round 1 KO).

I'm not sure if that's still true but Diaz brothers claimed that they are vegan since they were 18 years old so I have a horse in this race!

Seriously though, I don't know enough about MMA to guess what will happen in this fight, but Conor is a fascinating human being, he's almost like a self-fulfilling prophecy personified and it would probably be the best for the sport if he won. In any case I hope for an entertaining fight.

McGregorrrrrr Smile Makes us fighting Irish super proud!

However, I think his fall from grace is coming but I don't think it will be this fight

Some interesting stats!

I just realized Nate has 11 days to prepare for this fight, it's next week. Basically depends on what kind of condition he is in. 11 days ain't jack, you can't really do much asides from think of a gameplan.

If Nate wins, it will be by UD or submission in the first round. Not sure if he will have the tank to sub him in the 2nd or 3rd.

The majority prepare as if the they are in the fight anyway, for instances like this and a late cancellation. He obviously wasn't in ideal shape as he couldn't make 155lb,but he'll be in shape and prepared.

Still gets KOd mind. 😀

IDK, Mendes clearly tired after the 1st when he took on Connor on late notice. He had to make weight though, so hopefully this'll be less of an issue here.

I would love Connor more if he would lay back on the borderline racism in his trolling. He is an amazing hype man, I'm sure he could adjust if he wanted to, but since this is the UFC, they specialize in this. (Giving Diaz any weight class he wanted is a total baller move.)

Cool stats Colly. I would have thought Diaz has a much higher strikes/minute than that. But I admit, a week after the fight, I can never remember which Diaz it was. #FreeNick

@MattVIP Diaz is a mostly raw foodie, I think 100% vegan still. Another fighter I know that is vegan is Jake Shields (former Strikeforce champ). And heavyweight Mark Hunt is transitioning, after watching animal cruelty videos, but he's freaking huge so he hasn't gone all the way yet. Serena and Venus Williams are also vegans, they switched after Venus was diagnosed with Sjogrin's syndrome.

I used to watch UFC then lost track for a few years. McGregor's last few fights have brought me right back in. He's hilarious and I'm hyped for this!

@jongordon84 Yup Conor sells. I'm not that big of a UFC fan, but I'll definitely watch this fight and I think this is true for many other folks.

Holm vs Tate - Thoughts?
Posted 8 years ago
If Holm can keep it standing I think she's got the huge edge.

If it goes down to the ground and Tate can keep it there, I would not be surprised if we have a new women's champion.

I kind of want Holm to win because I like jumping on the bangwagon and seeing people turn into huge stars lol.

Tate actually looked great against everyone not named Ronda, but Rousey dominated for so long it's pretty easy to forget that. If Rousey gave her a game plan for what not to do (which should have been obvious anyway?), then I can see an upset happening. Even at the top, most women's MMA fighters are still new and raw, with incomplete games, so I'm with Harv, there's a decent shot that in anything other than boxing, Tate has the edge.

If Tate wins, the next fights lose their luster. The whole world wants to see Holm-Rousey 2 for the title.

I have been a Tate fan for a long time and well want to marry her but Holm is awesome and such a cool person. The vlogs have all shown them both in such an amazing light. Both worked so hard, been around and want to win BAD.

I think Tate is a deserving champion but Holm put on such a masterpiece vs Rousey that she looks so hard to beat.

The ground game thing is interesting as we forget how long Holm is and her body shape - she will be no slouch that is for sure. Also the "she hasn't been fight worn" is ludicrous to me as she has been a pro boxer for yearssssssss and has literally been punched in the face more times and harder than most UFC fighters out there.

For me i just want to see an amazing fight and both will be great champions and deserve the win. Sad to see one of them will lose.

BUT the Holm vs Rousey 2 is such a big win and maybe bigger than Tate vs Rousey so meh lets see some blood!

SOOOOOOOO PUMPED

Must watch:

Anyone else think Diaz got the better of him in that one? He looks like a man possessed.

Hyped

So god damn hyped

For me i want to see it go the distance or as near to that as possible. I wana see a warrrrrrrrrrrrr. I think if someone gets humiliated in a round or 2 we lose as fans.

Lets see some crazy shit and smack talking inside the cage.

What a UFC.

I think that's the first time in a while I've gone "HOLY S***, DID THAT JUST HAPPEN?"

First of all I got mad respect for Conor but I dunno if it's wise (in hindsight) to be moving up 25lbs in weight. Nate isn't the strongest puncher and he rocked him with a straight punch. I'm sure if that was at 145lbs Conor would have shrugged it off.

He was wobbling pretty hard after that and Nate took over. The way he mounted him and gave up his back was too easy too, but it's not like I could have done better.

Respect to Tate too, that was a crazy fight and she really pulled the cat out of the bag.
