Y'all deserve all the love

Posted 8 years ago

I've mentioned in a couple of threads that I'm transitioning (maybe kinda if variance doesn't piss in my face) to live play. That means that I'm spending time on 2+2, which has an active forum for live low-stakes strategy. And while there are some courteous and thoughtful posters to be sure, man I'd forgotten how troll-tastic it is. I learn a lot there, but I also feel like I need a beer after spending an hour there.

Stay classy, VIPers!

Aww, we love you too @CycleVancouver ! Its very true, every other poker forum out there is full of trolls, we are a very chilled community in comparison! Sun

The only thing I look at on 2+2 is the forum where they build their own poker rooms, some awesome stuff in there

The day I wrote the OP, I was so sour that I almost cancelled going to the casino that night. Decided, F that, 2+ can't ruin my day, went anyway and made $600. So yeah, they're miserable!

Get some sick stack pics bro or even just of the casino?

Well having $900 in front of me (915 I think was my top), I still wasn't even biggest sack at the table. 3 players on my immediate left, I think they were all either as good or better than me, and we all were over 250BB deep, so I figured it was time to rack up and leave.

We started with a whale businessman and a couple of tourists, but as they busted and regs moved from other tables to mine, the line-up got much less juicy. One guy at the table, real character, summed it up best: "This table just went from 1997 to the internet!"

Unless it's a home game with friends I can't play live after playing online. The last time I went was to a £20 MTT and we got in 10 hands per hour and I didn't play a single one. 3 hours into the MTT I just left and went home it was that annoying. My stack was bigger than the average but the field was still huge and there was too much smoke.

I guess cash games are better but I don't have the roll to play £5/5 or £5/10 sadly.

@CycleVancouver Congrats on your live poker results! As for the subject of this topic, the internet can be extremely... tiring especially for people pushing thirty/forty that had the chance to spend some of their childhood entirely offline. I think that the internet will ultimately set us free, but we're very bad at using it at the moment and we have to endure the growing pains full of hate, trolling (ungodly amounts of cat and food photos) and other unpleasant byproducts of the fact that we're just learning what to do with this amazing invention. Fortunately, PokerVIP forum is almost entirely hate/trolling free which I'm extremely happy about.

Pretty much agree with all that, Matt, though I can handle the cat photos...plus I pushed past 40 a while ago. (Need to go take a nap now.)

Hey, I would subscribe to a live poker thread for sure.
Cycle, do you have those crazy cash games out West where you can straddle anything up to half of your stack, believe it or not ! Or Mississippi style where you don't have to be UTG to do it ? Was wondering if this is just an Eastern Canada thing, or West too ?
I mean you can be playing 100 bb, and all of a sudden have an SPR of 2 or so !
