hmmm afternoon session

yes i played strong... really a great session.... until the end Sad

superaggrovillain to my left and he bullied me around. I took all my heart and tried to bluff him... why? I dont know... sessionw as great and he could have it... why should i care... well long story short... lost 1,3 bi there so the result is a mediocre at best

1,5 hours, 546 hands and +3,5bb/100

does not matter... I really played this session great. I hope I can keep on improving and keep level up for some time.

weird day...

Night session
2 hours 757 hands and +25,6bb

This session my red looks abysmal. between hand 400 and hand 550 I lost a BI in nonshowdown. Just slowly sloping downwards.... Then I made a megafold after i already put in 3/4th of my stack (but I was sooo shure that at this point i was beat and why should i waste my last couple of € there) and in the end i recovered and came back to -2,5bi in nonshowdown. blue on the other hand was sensational... furtunatly I found a very generous fish who financed my session Smile

This session ran completly opposite of my other two. I was down the whole session and in the end I won big Smile Although being down my head was good.

I started a diary were I put down the sessions where I punt money away because I am tilting. I hope I can find so more stability in my game.
Additionaly I tried some guided meditation. This is kind of weird, but for now I feel that it has a positive affect.

Lastly I try to visualize my biggest mistakes at the table. I keep a list of things I want to keep in mind during my sessions. This list is always open on the sidescreen. For now this list includes:
- Take your time for a decision
- Dont bluff fishes
- Dont bluff with absolutely nothing
- Be aggressive
- Table selection (no more than 2 regs)
- Fold to a c/r oder raise on the river
- Adjust to villain
- Put them on ranges

If i find a mistake that I constantly make, the list gets longer!!

Thank you guys for your support and good luck at the tables!!!

Evening session,

75 minutes, 482 hands -55bb

another session for my tiltlist. I played the first 300 hands very solid. Then hell broke lose... I started tilting because nothing worked, i lost 2 or 3 middlish pots. Then there was the stupid calldown and another hand in the end where i tried to bluff a fish... which is of course always a good idea...

very unhappy with this session. very very unhappy.

just an update to my last session

I played solid poker until I had an unfortunate hand. From that moment on my brain did not work properly. 75% of my losses come from 2 hands. The bluff was an absolute tilt mistake. The hand were I lost 1 bi against an aggro was a good call on flop an turn, but when the flush arrived I should have folded... I do not think that I get bluffed too often on this spot. As I did not even have TP I should let go this hand.

So all in all I start heaving the fealing that from a strategical point of view I definitly beat NL10. I really have to work on my mental game so I do not punt away my winnings every other day.

In order to do that I read my "pokermantra" and try to find out what kind of tilt is affecting me by keeping a tilt-journal. I also start to do some meditation and subliminal training. I hope I will improve here soon.

Additionally I am happy that my significant other starts to be interested in poker. As the best way of learning something is teaching it, I hope I can improve this way as well.

Another good night session on the weekends

55 minutes, 337 hands and +32bb/100

A Game throughout the session. I was absolutly in controll of the table - and more importantly - of myself. Not even close to tilt or something. I was very agressive and did not chase after weird draws.

Very very content with this session.

A very very challenging session ... I think I passed the test

2 hours, 811 hands and +10bb/100

After 350 hands I was down 2 BI. I complained alot in my blog but I think i was never this dead over nearly an hour. They had it every time. Red went slowly but steadily down. Blue went down as well.

I then adjusted and reduced my agression completly. When I had it i started betting, when I did not have anythin I did not bet. 3bets strongly reduced. That did the trick. When I faced agression I folded. I only called when there were no obvious draws on the river.

Result: Red abysmall... nearly 300 bb down. Blue sensational nearly 400bb up.

From this session I take mostly away that I kept my cool after the horrible start. So atm my mental game seems solid. As I turned into profits and played this passivly on purpose I think I can say that this session went well.

Just had my first sweat-session

I formed a little studygroup with another BTS guy and last week he played and I look over his shoulder. Today I had to play.

Session: 90 min. 568 hands and exactly +5bb/100

something I took away from this session: "Raise or Fold"... I am too often in a calldown mode. This leads to the negative red line. when I get bet on again, I have to fold.
other remarks from him were:
-too passive in 3bet pots
-too wide BB defence against EP
-playing slower
-thinking more about Ranges

Some good points to think about!

Now i am off to the theatre... cu soon guys and gl at the tables!!

Evening session

95 minutes, 631 hands and +11,74 bb/100

I played the session very well I guess. I lost a stack in the beginning after i flopped a set and villain hit his runner runner flush. As i was IP I did not raise and hoped that he would overplay AA or something and did not think that he really hit his flush. well nevermind

I was slightly endangered to tilt after i 4bet KK OOP and the flop was QJx... so the only thing that I beat was now AK... I bet 40% and get a call only to see an A on the turn. grmpf... but i did some breathing exercises (after some anger erupted violently Smile and i got back to normal. this happened after about 430 hands.

after that I really really played well. something i learned from the sweat-session was that c/r the turn after a weak doublebarrel works very nice. In combination it is better to bet flop small and turn bigger so villain is not induced to bluffraise you my red rocketed up 120bb in 120 hands Smile

so only positive things in this session
good agression
stable mental game

negativ: i think i butchered a hand and lost some value there as i hit my boat on a board with 4 hearts and I 3x overbet the river...

All the best and gl at the tables!!

Afternoon session

hmm not very happy,

90 min 681 hands and -13bb because I made a mistake with my last hand

i was up 1 bi very quickly... than was down 2 bi than came back to break even and with my last hand I made a terrivle sizing mistake and had to call a shove after my c/r with a flushdraw.... did not get there and he could not fold his KK.

Nothing to worry about.

I will come back and keep crushing NL10 Smile

session started bad and I lost a stack pretty needlessly. After that I played strong poker. Aggros donated lots of money and so I am up alot.

maybe I will come back for a night session.

bad night session
82 minuts, 600 hands -23bb/100

after 2 hands I was down 150 bi...

1st hand: KK and calling fish turned his A
2nd hand: TP +OESD +FD lost against 2overs + GS (65-35)

couple of hands later QQ got 3bet. I flattet and villain bombed it for 3 streets so I foldet river.

I fought back and was only down ,55 bi and then the end hit me hard again and i lost 1,5 bi over all

I think I played decently, just not my session

afternoon session

hmmm I am not sure what to make of this session

81 minutes, 528 hands and +12,9bb/100

startet horribly, and after 120 hands I was down 1,5 bi. two bluffs that were poorly executed

after 220 hands i was up 0,5 bi. 3 spots within 1 or 2 minutes and i made a comeback. not happy with my sizing in some pots... i lost some value against fish there

after 450 hands i was up 1,5 bi. played strong. some nice spots...

after 528 hands only ,5bi up. had to fold 2 big pots and some minor ones. I will analyze if i can play this better.

Evening session
2 hours, 987 hands and +11,44bb/100

I tried 6 tabling. first couple of hand nothing really happened. I was a bit overwhelmed but I thought I had it unter controll. As I lost a buyIn over the course of 50 hands I decidet that 6 is too much and reduced to 5 tables. that went very good. I had 4 all in situations and all went as the stats said. I won where i was favourit, i lost where i was underdog. nevertheles the session was 1bi above EV (which sucks as i made exactly 1 bi)

negativ: red (i did not cbet, at all)
positiv: blue

im off for champions league

Night session, after watching @jongordon84 streaming i had to join his tables a bit

played 190 hands NL5 zoom to be on his stream Smile started very well with 1 bi up... but made a bad bad call and dropped down a bit... after all +9bb/100

then switched to NL10. did a bit of 4 tabling and had another very very very nice session. finally up 43,15bb/100

played very focussed and thought alot about the hands. after the bad call at nl5 I made some good ones here (at least I think so)

have a nice weekend and glgl you guys

Afternoonsession

again lost 3bi... this time nothing I could do... TT ran into JJ on an 2TJ board. overpair called against a draw and he got there... some other hands not in my favour and you lose again.... grmpf

night session started very good. unfortunatly i finished nearly 0 (slightly positive so I can go to bed with a good feeling)

made one atrocious call and one very bad bluff but other than that I played a very strong game.

reached made my 15$ rakeback goal for this week as well so it is not all bad!

Hey man, nice to follow this journey, I used to play cash games too and for sure had a lot of the same issues you seem to have with regards to the mental game.

One thing I found worked for me was setting an amount of time that I was going to play each session, usually I would play 1 hour 15 minuted then take a quick break to regroup but just sitting out not leaving then another 1 hour 15 minutes. I found this really helped with focus and refreshing your mind at the table. I would continue to play after those 2 mini seshs only if I felt I was playing my A game. This is how I would structure my routine each day and week.

Also I found checking results on a daily basis or each sesh really did not help seeing as though were in this for the long run, each week maybe that's fine, otherwise I would just mark hands that I thought I needed to review each sesh and that's it.

Obviously you do what works for you but just an idea to try maybe.

Evening session

reduced to 4tabling

played 45minutes, 260 hands and +54,23bb/100

i am quite happy with this session. results are great of course, but I stayed stable after the last couple of hits and played some good poker. Got paid in some nice spots as well and made hurtfull laydowns and some nice calls.

to dos:
improve preflop aggression
improve postflop aggression

happy about:
mental stability after taking a hit
girlfriend also starting with poker and being enthusiastic about it.

@Curl-1-out : thanks for the input! I actually try to sit for 90 min. that seems a good time for me. sometimes i cut it short sometimes i extend but mostly this works. I have to go away completly to regroup. maybe do some "real" work or gym or something

I will think about not looking at my graph for some time... maybe that helps Smile
