Well that's nice to see. Yes

Good start team.

Hope to see the team put in a good month! It'll be well deserved for the work you put in Jon.

I have to be honest and say that i have mixed feelings while reading this thread.

I was part of the first staking team, and im very grateful with Jon and Pokervip for the chance that they gave me. There were a couple months where i broke the contract, but it was completely my fault.

I think that (talking about me and in general) as a stakee, you dont realize that its a unique opportunity and if you dont give the best, its going to feel like a waste of time.
But its not, if you put in enough work, it can become a cash income that many people would love to have.

IF you were given a scholarship @ Hardvard or MIT, Would you do the minimun effort? maybe you would, but that would be wasting it.

I wish the best of lucks to the team.
see you arround guys

@Duran Great to see you back. Yeh i think you're right in the moment you can become lazy and just see it as whatever but when you look back it's an opportunity missed and also for a lot of these guys a bad name now in the poker community.

Opportunity missed or bad name...

Only two options??

I think it was a realisation that grinding wasnt for me and i prefer the fact that I can play poker when i feel rather than feel i have to play...

I think for some its a realization that it isnt for them... i was one....

i definately dont feel I missed an opportunity

I also feel I have a bad name as a result

I went about things the right way and was completely honest 100 percent of the time.

I know its probably not what you meant... there have been a few good playerss who have realised.. although may not admit... that it isnt for them

I took the experience as a learning one. I am ten/hundred times the player i was when i begun.... take the 4nl review to the latest 10nl review and look at the difference...

It is a great opportunity for those who really want it, I am not denying that, but it is also a realization for those who thougt they wanted it.

Also congrats to those who are part of the team... good to see a winning start to the month

I said to jon as i left that he has a good team there and its great to see the hard work is paying off

@perthhibee ok buddy. Wasn't just saying 2 options but for the scummy lads then it pretty much is those 2. You are different ofc.

Current profit/loss on the month

+€5.88

We dipped below break even but powered out of it yesterday. We also have some new blood in the group and @Hitchhiking is back from freshers week so i am very confident the winning ways will continue.

We now have a total of 6 staked players and i have to say they are a great bunch.

Sadly yesterday was a big losing day and we are now down 3 figures.

The good news is the staked player competition is underway! 10 days of hard grinding Smile

Profit/Loss update

October 8th : -€94.16
October 9th: -€141.95
October 10th: - €33.99
October 11th: -€139.05

Sadly just the worst downswing ever which seems to happen around the 10th of each month :(. €100 of these losses was sent back to me from a player who lost, left then instantly sent it back. You know who you are and thanks :).

So current loss on the month = -€302.74

So yeh what can i say about that. TBH i am fine with it all apart from the obvious one. This month is make or break guys. I cannot say it any simpler than that. Work your asses off, get involved, ask me for anything anytime, push hard for the competition and crush!

Really hope JBone and the team can pull this around, as i want nothing but the best for him.

My leaving was not ideal, i was in a hole and really struggled to put any volume in with my attempt to change career and bits, and it sucked not pulling my weight espeically when i consider JB a friend.

I have hardly played any poker bar my 31st in UKIPT Bristol (which killed me mentally) but maybe one day ill be back on the scene and in a position to cover some of my losses for the group.

Keep Grinding guys, and win all the Beibers!!!

@iGoWeeWeee Cheers bud! Yeh not ideal but what more can we say about it?!!? Good luck with whatever you do next. Would be great to see you back around the forum that's for sure. To many people lost...maybe they feel guilty or something so they don't post?

Last few days have been interesting and around breakeven. We are still stuck around 300 euros on the month and i have not seen a recent hand update. Going to be some important decisions made over the next 2 weeks to decide how we move forward with the staking. For now i encourage players to grind super hard, get stuck in, win the coaching packs and abuse it basically. Now is the best time of your life you will get the chance to learn the game and it not cost you a penny.

So its been quiet.... good or bad news

perthhibee: So its been quiet.... good or bad news

TBH pretty good news. We only have 3 players now and are basically thinking how we move forward with this all both for us and our players. But they are doing well learning lots and we are break even basically over the last 10 days or so!

October Report:

More testing times:

So October brought a few more people vanishing but also it showed some incredibly work ethic from what is now our final 3 players. I am so happy with these 3 and I know they will all become winners as well they already are so now the aim is to just really push them up the stakes and give them a lot more time, energy and rewards. I have also just taken on a 4th player who in his first day played 3k hands and won 1 buy in!!! Pretty pumped about that. Also I am going through all applications this week and hope to bring 2 more new players into the team so we can rock the Winter months together.

So what has been interested is 2 players who did some sort of vanishing act this month or in previous have actually comeback to me and said sorry and asked to repay. This is awesome and I knew they were good guys! So yeh thanks for that guys.

Also James 'jimbob88' Ablott who left the staking team to focus on his new job is down to the final 50 of a WPT playing for £160k today so hopefully he goes and takes that down...always good to see someone who was once with us playing for huge money Smile

So the results:

-€348 on the total month

Graph:

Attached Image

Take from this what you will...for me I am taking it as a positive to see the upswing at the end!

Competition:

The best all rounder this month will win $50 cash money (even if in make up) as a Christmas bonus.

Criteria

- Most Hands Posted
- Most Hands Replied To
- Most Video Comments
- Most Hands
- Bigger Winner (Buy Ins)

Each player will get points for each of these criteria. For example there are now 4 players so the winner of a category will get 4 points and the loser 1 point. So who wants it?
Posted 8 years ago
Looking forwards to improving that graph around this month and the bossman and the guys in the group are super cool and supportive as you can see.

The competition looks fun and my mrs always wants food, so the $50 would be a welcome - and very much appreciated by the mrs - bonus.

We've added a new guy and he's started out far too well for my liking (3K hands and +1BI ) so that bodes well for the team. Nice job and welcome! Hug

Good luck to 'jimbob88' to, that also would be a nice bonus if he did well in that. He must be good to play there, whew.

As for the guys volunteering to pay you back, nicely done guys, respect; and well yes, they are mostly gonna be good guys, you know what you're doing! (he said in total modesty) Angel

I feel and hope that the graph is indication of new direction. It's really great to see that we went into upswing and I think we can keep it this way.

As I have been staked for over 3 months I want to share my perspective on it. Well, first of all, it's not really about money, from both perspectives. I had many conversations with Jon about people that have left the staking in whatever circumstances and the truth is that they left their best opportunity to succeed in poker. What staking gives you is the environment of constant support from pros like Jon and from us minions that you couldn't get elsewhere. I personally think that 90% of players cannot succeed without it. I definitely wouldn't.

The problem is that some people take this support as a pressure, which I still can't understand. People are given everything - money, resources, support and understanding, but don't give one simple thing as is hard work in return. I think before anyone sign up for staking they have to be able to understand this simple exchange and don't take it as a deterrent, because missing the opportunity like the staking is, in my opinion is basically missing your chance in poker.

Finally, I want to stress how great team we have at the moment and I hope that at the end of this month we can make Jon proud. GL Smile
