Harvie: Sounds like an epic game. Do you have a proper poker table or on something else? I love home games, by far the best, and there rake free!

I get annoyed when people want to play SNGs at homegames, it sucks if you're out early as you can't do much.

Plans for the new year buddy?

hey Harvie,

Unfortunately NO, we dont have proper poker table, every year we are playing in same pub. We usualy just join 2 tables togather. I love homegames too, but these games are not serious, it is more about meeting friends who are living outside of city/slovakia and play poker proesionaly or just for fun.

Our rake is beer, rum and weed :D:D and I usualy take at least 10BI, because you never know what happens there, but its always superfun.

I have some plans for 2015 but this is topic for another post.

btw: i hate playing SNG at homegames too, as you said, it suks when you bust out early.

!!! BYE BYE 2014, WELCOME 2015 !!!

Year 2014 is almost over and it is time to sumarize. Because I am a member of pokerVIP very short time, just two monts, i'll try to keep it short.
Year 2014 was amazing, both poker related and non poker related, here is some numbers related to poker, because this is p[oker blog:

- 1, number of Sunday Milion I played
- 4524, number of games I played at PS.com
- 8796, number of games I played at PS.es
- I dont remember number of live events played, sorry, but i remember last tourney i finished 1/87 (brag, i can post winning photo if you want guys, just tell me)

All in All, 2014 was another profitable year for me. Not very much, but enough to enjoy the life.1

GOALS FOR 2015

- NL50
- Attend at least one live poker event with buy in over 1000 euros
- Keep this blog alive, funny and inspirative during whole year

These are my main goals for year 2015, there is a lot of subgoals, and I will reveal it one by one during next weeks.

I hope you are curious, and I am looking forward to answer all your questions.

JANUARY 2015

Goals :
- 15K hands
- Study 2 hours
- Start with "Stop clicking, Start thinking" learning series
- Record and review one 15-20 min video
- Be happy and good person

Are you asking what my 3rd goal means? After 2 months and 25K hands I can say, that in lot of situations I really don't know what to do. I would like to change this. I need to change this if I want to move up stakes. So I've decided to make my "own series" where I will try to learn and understand the specific concepts, situations, etc. I will start with basics like: preflop ranges, defending, 3 betting and one day meybe I will be good enough to start learning advanced things. Everytime I start learning something new, I will read some articles, whatch some videos and then I will share my thoughts here on my blog.

Thats all for now. Later I will start with first lesson : "Preflop ranges".

Good luck and Have fun.

Hey mattusko, yeah you've got to put your winning pic up for sure! Unlucky on the bad first session and best of luck for the year to come and all of your goals!

I think you played the hand fine btw, I would 100% be getting it in on the flop.

P.S Use Weaktight for hand conversions! Smile

I have created strategy thread, here is the link:
Stop clicking, Start thinking. Part 1: Preflop opening ranges
I think it is better to discuss strategy things in strategy section than in journey. At least I hope i can have more answers there.

If you have a time, please leave me a comment there.

Good luck and see you later.

Love the new series buddy and ill deffs chime in there from time to time. Having your own playground to learn in is going to help you massively. If your stuck on something you can post it up and it directly helps you....sick idea! I will nudge some coaches to check it out also as they may be able to help also.

Solid goals which you should be able to meet. In what order do you rate the importance of those goals?

Hey Jon,

1.
Be happy and good person - this is always number one for me.
2.
Start with "Stop clicking, Start thinking" learning series
Record and review one 15-20 min video
Study 2 hours
- these 3 goals have same importatnce. I think, I need to build confidance in my game, more than put volume and losing money.
3.
15K hands
- Low importance. But still, I can learn ton of stuf, but it will make no sense if I wont try it at the tables.

This is order of my monthly goals. They are not too hard, but also not too easy. The hardest one is 15K hands, with fulltime job it will be fun:)

Hey bud, as for goal #2. Get a sticky pad and write "THINK" on it and attach it to your monitor. This helped me a lot when I used to auto pilot. A decent way to build confidence is to play lower stakes for a little bit and comment on hands where you know the answer. This will help reinfroce some of your ideas and build momentum.

Hez guys, long time no upldate,

Have played almost 7K hand so far this month, which is great. What is not so great is my actual run, I really dont know how it feels to hit piece of the flop with AK in 3bet pots (for example). Last time i checked it was -225bb/100 with AKo/s Smile That sucks a bit, but i hope it will turn around soon Smile

Last days, I worked on my preflop ranges. Meybe some of you noticed the thread I have created. It was super helpfull. Thanks again guys.

Next thing i would like to work on is: Calling/Completing from SB/BB in multiway pots. This is another part where i lose ton of money and it happens very frequently at NL10. New strategy thread comming in short time.

Good luck at the tables.

Hey Matt, post a couple of your AKo hands in the poker strategy section so we can take a look at them, it's always good to get advice from others.

As for the playing in the blinds, I hardly ever complete in the SB unless I have a PP and there has been a raise and at least one caller, I think it's ways too hard to play any hand in the SB by simply completing or calling.

SB/BB ranges should not be static as they should depend on the villain in the SB or BB, obviously against weaker regs we open and raise a lot more. But looking forward to your new thing buddy.

Self commentary is very helpful I find... as long as you are alone. I don't like playing with anyone nearby anyway.

But yeah.. pretend you are Jon and talk yourself through your own hands as you play. It keeps you thinking, prevents boredom and I really enjoy my own company Smile

Wow, Last post already 4 days ago and I haven't played a hand.. Been busy last days and have no time for poker. Lets change this today and try to win some buyins Smile

Super sweet session today, very happy about how i played preflop. Dodge a lot of hard situations just folding preflop. YAY Smile
