Back to basics - spinning it up on 888

Posted 8 years ago

Sup guys.

So I thought it be good to start a thread and keep me motivated as I start my grind on 888.

I've played a small amount of zoom on stars so I decided to stick with that format and play snap on 888.

My starting bankroll is $160

I'll be playing 3 tables at 5nl which is the max on 888.

Volume will be on the low side to start off as I'm studying as much as I'm playing.

The plan is simply do the ground work play a ton and make some Cash

Cheers for tuning in and good luck to everyone else on their own journey Kiss

Hey buddy..

I've played online for 4-5 years. Made an effort in 2013-2014 to learn husng and played up to the $15 hypers on stars and fulltilt.

This is a reasonably accurate graph of how it went.

Last year was pretty crazy with work and moving etc I didn't really play to much. I was just playing the odd MTT spin and go etc.

I also fell into a bit of a downswing and didn't enjoy playing so much.

Just felt like a change and fresh start playing another format, toyed about with zoom on stars and really enjoyed it.

I have more time in the evenings now to put the study and grind, I'm also getting married next year so my aim is to build up some extra money for that which is great motivation. So i'll give it ago and see what happens.

Good luck on the felt dude Yes

Cheers Jon. Nice to find a friendly community again. Smile

Slight glitch I didn't realise 888 doesn't allow huds on snap tables so I'm in the process of sorting a betfair account and will switch over there asap.

Ok so I've made a quick change over of sites as 888 snap doesn't allow huds.

I've joined boyle sports on the ipoker network seems a good deal with the rakeback and I can use a hud.

Bankroll starting at £150

Playing 5nl speed poker.

Probably update every couple of weeks with results.

Sup guys , thought id make a quick update.

Pretty hit and miss start at the tables so far. After an ok start I found myself slipping into auto pilot playing 4 tables which I think has been my biggest mistake. Not thinking about hands and clicking buttons is always going to end badly.

So I have dropped down to 2 tabling and so far had better results , I think I'm also guilty of playing way to wide a range in all positions , the most notable thing I've seen so far is how tight everyone seems to play even short stacks don't go crazy and generally have premium hands when shoving. Not to say there isn't lunatics at the tables but no where near as many as I thought there might be.

I guess the lessons learnt so far are , play less tables and think about hands (don't auto pilot) and tighten up ranges (but don't become a super nit) volume isn't everything (quality over quantity)

I'll update by the end of the month

Hit some form over the last couple of weeks just reached 10k hands, BR currently stands at £185 Yes

2 tabling is a good idea! I like to tell people to do this as it forces you to really concentrate on the games and also helps you get tons of reads on opponents.

Well, quite a bit has changed since I last made a post here, Shortly after starting the speed poker grind I actually joined a stable and got staked to play spin and go's on pokerstars.

This is my total games graph from $3-$15

Following the pokerstars changes to their VIP program i'm looking another room to play spins on. Could anyone recommend a room I can play the same structure spins as pokerstars which has decent enough traffic and good rb deals.

hope your all crushing it.

Yo welcome back buddy and glad to see you have found some success! Always nice when old members stumble back on here after some time away!

The best site in terms of solid action, stakes you want and rewards is probably gonna be Betfair. Check that out and let me know if it suits!

Hi there. Handshake I'd love to suggest a nice site but I'm seriously thinking of moving as well.

I'm not being selfish, I'm starting Sngs as well, probably something like spins to, but I'm not going where you're going if you're just gonna crush my soul! Emo

Have a great time and run hot! Sun

Hi Jon, thanks for the suggestion about betfair. I've been digging deeper into poker networks/rake/rakeback deals etc and have decided I'm probably going to play on microgaming as the rake is lower, I can get a similar deal rakeback wise and I like the look of the software.

Haha Pwll. good luck at the tables dude.

These jackpot tournaments are really the way to go these days aren't they @CharlieChlk? I was always a cash game player, but if I had to start playing poker today I'd definitely pick spins as my main game. As for the poker room selection, both Microgaming and Ipoker should work well for you and PokerVIP has some great deals for both especially if you're new to the sites and you can utilize the first deposit bonus. I'm glad you decided to start posting again and I'll be looking forward to the future updates.
