I wouldn't call it a heater, it's more the result of a well thought out system, executed to perfection. Basically every hand I roll two dice, hit double six and I'm all in. Simples.

A quick reflection on 2015...

I started the year a losing 2NL player hoping to move up to 4 or 5NL (depending on the site) by the end of the year. I was also going through redundancy, unsure if I'd find a new job before my notice period was up.

After a brief winning period I moved to 4NL early (way too early given the sample I was winning with) and began losing immediately. At the same time I found and started a new job on more money with better prospects.

Mid year I re-evaluated how I was approaching poker, put more time into studying, and started improving. I also realised that I was having some mental issues off table. Mild depression perhaps, I don't know, but my relationship with the Mrs reached a ten year low because of it. Gladly though, I and we, are starting to come out the other side.

I'm a far better player than I was at the start of the year, and the OPL has brought a lot of the fun back. I'm now breaking even (just about) at 4NL and have a much greater idea of what I need to work on to start beating this level.

Goals for 2016...

Beat 4NL. This thread was about moving up to 10NL by christmas. Same goal, just later than planned.

3k hands per week average. I'll be studying more, table selecting more, and continuing playing OPL tourneys so this is a reasonable target for me.

Lift. My back is a lot better. I'll be pretty much starting from scratch but with consistent training I can get back to good size and strength by the end of the year.

Ride. Every day I take the bike to work I save £5. And it's so much fun. I need to take every opportunity to do it. Perhaps think about going for full licence late next year.

Save. As long as my shit heap car doesn't totally fail (my mechanic thinks it might!) I don't want to use a credit card even once. That means saving each month for the big expenses, holiday, xmas etc.

Kids. I don't do enough with them. I'm lucky enough to see them everyday and we spend every weekend together. Need to start making the most of it.

From what i have seen of you playing, discussing poker and posting hands i think you can deffs beat 10nl and probs just suffer from some in game issues. Perhaps concentration, doing things you know are wrong and so on. I think you should smash hands up and reply to hands in the line check area to help your day to day thinking. Basically the more you post, the more you reply the more you learn. You can take away what people do wrong and right and add it to your game. Also i am up for doing more video reviews if you are? I will sort our recorder account today and ship the new details over to you so we can get this show on the road.

But yeh 10nl for you is beatable and i think we can get there in no time!

Cheers Jon. Rum = You are right, concentration, clicking buttons without thought, tilt - all problems with my game. Trying to run before I can walk too, playing too many tables, trying to learn too many concepts without nailing down the basics.

I def need to post more hands up, I struggle with choosing which ones. Guess it should just be any where, in game, I don't know what to do.

And reviews, yes, I haven't done one since 2NL so that's a must.

Played just an hour last night, first cash game since early December.

Negatives:

Lost almost 2 buyins.
Called too many streets with top pair, even 2nd pair.
Didn't think enough about villains ranges.

Positives:

Over 60 hands per hour per table. Perfect for my Goals.
3 tables felt super comfortable.
Tagged fish straightaway. Also spotted exploitable stats on regs.

I feel good about playing cash games again. Will try to keep a couple of tables running during OPL tourney tonight.

Never fun having a losing session to start the year off but as Doyle says "its bad luck winning the first one" so just see it as a positive and know you have Doyles luck on your side now!

Yep Party Poker tonight. I won't be playing it as i always have Saturdays off altho i do realise how stupid that is as its the best value tournament out there with like 14 runners, 250 euros added and yeh a pretty good field.

Out in 3rd in tonight's OPL tournament. Not much of a payout but 65 points will do.

Also played a couple of hours on Sky today. It's been 6 months or so since I first/last played on there and I remember finding it difficult to play with the faster timeout, no hud etc. Found it much easier this time. Wasn't the best session winnings wise but the level of play was pretty bad, tagged at least 2 fish per table. I'll def be playing some more on there, just need to adjust to the huge amount of limp-calling that goes on.

Did DarkRose take the Party one down? Gutted i never got to play one as they were the highest value of the OPL

Yeh I think DarkRose won it, well deserved, annihilated the final table.

I completely spewed last night's ACR after big fold that would have had me busting DarkRose and another player and making me a big chip leader, if I called. Ended up shoving 98s EP cos I was fed up.

I am super tilted by it all now just had an horrific season and it just keeps getting worse. I feel i can't even top 10 it atm which is such a beat and gutting but fingers crossed i get my run good and scoop a few of these ones we have left to go!

Yeh it has gone quick. I was thinking today how many I've played, I think it's less than half as I started late and didn't join a lot of the sites til even later. I'll be playing almost all of them next season hopefully.

Just working out my points. I've got 495 from my top 10. Need 3 top 10 finishes from the last 5 to give it a boost. Not sure where that will place in the final standings.
