Posted 7 years agoEdited 7 years ago

Hi everyone, I am Lun from Malaysia.26 This year and work as a cook.It is a family business and i can earn 1500usd a month which is above average in my country. However i love playing poker but its hard to find a legal poker game in my country. And many of them sees poker as gambling even my parents.
I was inspired my Jon's video about how he beat those micro level.I been struggling for a year since i made my first deposit to 888 poker. After a year now i think its time for me to blog about my poker story and set target for myself. When everyones is watching me i might make lesser those stupid mistake.
due to my job i can only play after 4pm-10pm, will try to make more quality play.Currently playing at N8

Long term goal : turn into pro and playing NL1000 is my dream
short term goal : grew my bankroll to usd 20000 and get married with my lovely girlfriend and move to thailand to pursue my poker dream because i cant play pokerstars in here.

Target
start with usd150 bankroll and make it grow to 500 usd by mid 15th of october.

Day 1 - usd170
Day 2 - usd196
Day 3 - usd 233

Day5 - $279

Cash a tournament hunting sunday at N8. I played too nitty durring bubble stage end up cashing the min and didnt hunt any bounty. =(

after the tournament i jump into cash game and basically donk off my tournament winnings. was too tired after work and play abc poker. Guess i deserve that.I been telling myself so many times not to jump on the table when i am not ready.

i hate my call here at the river about the KJ. would have folded if i am playing my A game

JJ here i dont know. 50/50 for me.might be a pure bluff or a very strong hand villian's holding. I just dont know how he bet the river with so many draws gets there and i went and call.oh man....Attached Image

Day 6 - continue to run good today however lose $25 on the bounty tournament. Getting more notes on the players and differentiate regs and recs. Hopefully get enough notes on the player and able to run 6 tables at the same time.

Hi Lun,

Great start to your journey! More than doubling your starting bankroll in less than a week is pretty sick!

Did you start at 25NL or 10NL?

You're using aggressive bankroll management, which is obviously working at the minute but I would be a bit wary, especially playing $25 comps where the variance is higher as well.

What are the online poker regulations like in Malaysia? Is it pretty relaxed?

hi killjoy1987, i am using aggressive bankroll management. $150 i will mix 1 table nl25 and 3 nl10. when i hit 250 i will go for 4 25nl.
we are an islamic country so we cant play live poker at all but online poker the government just doesn't care. However we cant play at pokerstars and what we left here is zero rakeback 888 and other small network.

After i failed my grinds in N8 i stopped and study for 2 months before i came back to my beloved poker. I went back to 888 because i think that since i am multitabling i rely heavily on HUD. I know the VIP systems sucks in 888 but what to do since they have the most traffic.
i been grinding for around 2 weeks there and so far so good?
i logon to my 888 and found out that they gave me usd15 and i have balance 4usd inside, jumped straight into 3000 guaranteed touirnament with usd 5 buy in + 1 add on and i managed to came to 11th place and cashed usd49. I deposited usd 100+ 9usd bonus and started from there.
I will stick to the BRM this time with 30 buy ins and increasing when i move up in stake.

Goal
1. to move up to NL before 2017 with BRM 30 buy ins
2.must have minimum 20k hand for 5NL
3.Join BPC course when i'm able to beat 10NL
4.Update this blog every Sunday on my progress

AK-Flush94: Subbed! Keep up the good work!
Thanks buddy for reading my blog.

Ended todays sessions on 1003 hands played.I lose 3 KK 2 JJ and a QQ today, kinda happy with myself for not tilting. Losing all those big pots but manage to picked up quite a numbers of small pots. But most of it its my problem for not letting go after seeing the flop structure, part of it is because i kept losing with Kings and i belive it time for me to win some hand with Kings. Profit for today $2.14

Feeling pretty comfortable with 5NL maybe i have a proper BRM that i doesnt in the past.Hopefully i'm able to move up the 10NL by January. =)

Hey mate, do many people player poker in Malaysia?

As for the JJ hand, I think I'm calling pre-flop, if we get 4bet I'm not loving life and they can very well have QQ+ or AQ+ which we're flipping with even against a 31vpip. Any reason why you called the 4bet instead of shoving?

There are a lot poker player in Malaysia but we don't have a legal place to play. Our only casino here does not offer poker.
I've seen this guy shove with Ax before so I was afraid if I shove he might call with those hands. So when I see a safe flop like this and I expect him to fold all his Ax and unfortunately he tanks a while and he make the call.

I moved up to 10NL btw with 30BIs and I lose 11BIs. So I decided to join bpc ytd.Just started and don't know how will it turn out to be 🙄🙄

Yo! Sorry I have not seen this before! Looks like a great work ethic you have and sorry to see N8 did not work out for you!

What do you think your 5 main trouble areas with N8 were? I know @MilfGrinder is playing in these same games and has so far turned $100 into almost $3000!
Posted 7 years ago
Hi Jon, N8 i great and the game is soft. The main problem of mine is i tend to get bored with 4 tables, but when i play at 6 tables without HUD thats another problem. Yea i am reading his thread and think he is crushing at N8! I might give N8 1 more try sooner or later. I am working morning and night shift now and i signed up for bpc. I cant squeeze any extra minute out in a day. Might quit my night shift job if i;m able to finish my bpc micro program. But its a family business i'm doing now, the biggest problem is to deal with my dad.LoL

@BentleyMe, that looks like a phone number to me. May I suggest you use the messaging app instead.

Just go to your 'dashboard' then find the 'Messages' tab at the top. Smile
