I love poker. I've been playing poker with friends for several years and did pretty well against them. But never knew much about poker strategy.

2 years ago I began playing at poker online. Again,,, I knew nothing about strategy and didnt use any kind of software. I didn't do well at all and lost about $2000 dollars in 8 months.

So I quit. My main problem was that I couldn't control my emotions. Maybe I would win 50 dollars one day but would lose 100 the next day. There were many many things I was doing wrong.

- Bad bankroll management

- No control of my emotions at all

- Playing out of limits.

- And many other things.

This year... I was bored one random weekend and decided to play a freeroll tournament. I won 5 dollars and with those 5 dollars I reached a peak of 55. Then ended up losing all again.

So I decided to take this more seriously and started reading books, using some legal softwares and watching videos.

My game has improved a lot. All the things I was doing wrong before, I am now doing them correctly. I manage my bankroll correctly, I accept the bad beats, etc, etc.

The question is... my winning curve is consantly growing and decreasing. I mean, there are some upswings and downswings. It is tough to have a good number of sessions repeatedly. Maybe I have 3 good ones, 1 bad one, 3 good ones, 4 bad ones, etc, etc.

I dont know if this is normal or if maybe Im still a very bad player. I cant be that bad becuase I have earned money; not lost.

But I dont know how to proggress faster.

I have so far played:

NL2: 37.435 hands / Wininngs: $43, 67.-

NL5: 72.827 hands/ Winnings: $17, 60.-

I am currently playing at NL5 and will not go up a level until I have enough bankroll.

Thanks for your time If you read all my post. I expect some answers about your experiencies and your journey, If maybe you feel indentified in my post.

Thanks everyone for your welcome. I will post my results here. I must admit that I'm a little frustrated because I can't climb to NL10.

I'm getting a tough time trying to earn constant winnings. I'm a 2.20bb/100 in 120.000 hands approximately. But I guess I will have to focus on the fact that I will have to spend several months playing at NL5, right?

Because in order to play at NL10 I want to have at least 50 or 60 buy ins (that is to say, a $600 bankroll and at present I only have $300.)

120k hands is a pretty large sample for 5nl tbh. If i was you i would really start taking shots on 5nl 30-40 buyins is more than enough

Awesome intro! I think you fall under the same category as most. Deposited and just went full steam without a plan. Now it looks like your head is in the game so i wish you the best of luck. No reason why you should fail now, you have everything around you to help you succeed.

If you need anymore help with posting an image or a hand just pm me and ill guide you through it.

good luck buddy!

This is my overall graph so far. At present I continue playing NL5 even though I have played in NL2 and around 10k hands in NL10.

I just wonder if my upswings and downswings are normal. Sometimes I see other people´s graphs and I notice they are pretty straight forward with almost NO downswings!

This graph represents a total of around 135k hands.

Yesterday I had a great session but today I had a bad one.

I decided to set the following goal from now on:

As I work and don't have much time to play, I decided to play a minimum of 2k hands per day (from monday to friday. If I can also play on weekends that would be great, but I usually don't have time) and the rest of my free hours I will occupy them studying poker.

I was wondering if everyone loses so much in BB or if maybe I'm having a major leak there...

I had a bad session today morning:

and a good one this evening:

So I am wondering which are my big leaks. Yesterday I had a session where I lost 9 dollars. And when I see the hand where I lose most money, I see many of them are with marginal hands.

And it is not that I am playing bad poker. But I realise I try to play a deeper poker than I should at micro stakes. That is why my conclusion is that, even though I don't like being a rock, I will have to tighten up my VPIP a little more. I mean, dont play or 3bet with hands which dont deserve these kind of movements.

At NL5 I should be playing more ABC poker. Bet when I have a hand and just fold if I don't hit anything. In higher levels I will adjust my way of playing but I don't have to mess very much around with hands like 9-10 suited, etc, in NL5.

We'll see what happens.

ABC poker at these levels is the way forward for sure! Just up your value bet sizing and don't be the one creating the action. Sit back, pick your spots, value town these guys and let the money come to you.

I'm totally frustrated. This is an impossible task. Constant up and downswings. One day I win 20, next I lose 30, next I win 16, next I lose 10 and so on.

Today I had an awful session. Everyone seemed to beat me. Everytime I had a premium hand I got beat by a set, no matter If I 3bet preflop, villain would call so as to beat me with a set or 2 pair or whatever.

Don't know... I can't seem to find the way. And everything says I should think in long terms but what the hell... what is long term?

Ive played 150k hands so far and this is my general graph (played at NL2, NL5 and NL10)

post your positional stats as they will help to identify your leaks. And i don't mean the positional win rates or winnings that you have already posted, thats pretty much irrelevent and is a result of the leaks not helping to narrow them down. A you playing to many hands , are you playing out of position too much, do you call too much, are you limping,do you 3bet enough, do you fold to 3bets enough .Your stats wil help to identify the answers to these questions and posting hand will narrow down bet sizing problems.

Time for some sweat sessions aha, I'll defo help you out if you want mate, would be sweet to get a video out of it, either me sweating you live or reviewing a session. It may be a really simple leak you can't spot yourself and an outsider has to find Smile

Hi Keith! Thx for your reply!

Here are some of my stats. I included the ones I consider relevant and some others too. If you think there's an important one I did not include, please let me know.

What do you think about my stats? I'd take more attention to NL5 because it's the limit where I've played most hands. Now I have a negative winrate after last awful session.
