Back on the grind hard this week after a very busy period! What's your March goals? Trying to think of some for myself

End Of Month Report

Well... Rough month! I was really put to the test with my mental game... February opened my eyes to how bad you can run! Obviously, with the downswing, came bad play. -20 buy ins at one stage! Card dead + below EV! That shit hurttttt.

I was so agonisingly close to 10NL. I got my BR up to $347 If I remember correctly, $3 off a shot! Next thing I knew, I was down to $250!

Heard this quote a while ago on a podcast and it's pretty true! I always forget how frustrating it can be during a downswing

You will run worse than you can ever imagine.

But this thread helped me keep motivated! Thanks to everyone who supported me and told me to keep grinding through it!

Due to this swing, I took a step back and looked at my game. I realised I was fighting for too many pots... I need to utilise that fold button more!

HOWEVER, I turned it around a bit in the past few days and the recovery is in full flow! Feeling very motivated going into March!

Great comeback bro and sounds like your mindset is in the correct place it needs to be for you to power on!

The $3 off the shot is one hell of a beat as you must have built some excitement and then probably had quite an adrenaline dump. My advice: Remember the feeling, embrace it and be ready for when the shot does come.

Oh yeah, I was soooo angry about that! Probably the worst I've felt so far in my poker career. Everything just crumbled at the wrong time haha I'm back up to $310 at the moment

Was playing the 6NL tables on 888 for a little bit last month which got me used to some bigger pots than I was used to in preparation for 10NL... But I logged on yesterday and seen they merged the .2/.4 and 3./.6 tables into .2/.5!

Why are you taking shots at 35bi? Seems like at least 5bi too much maybe 10 when moving from 5-10...

BRM can work the other way where if we wait till we have a higher ammount than we need we waste time at lower stakes and can potentially make us a bit more worried about the moniesss.

Just an outside view, it's all about personal preference, but with a 310br I would take a 5bi shot at 10nl.

@CrazyCookie I play a decent amount of fast poker variants and 888 reg tables full of crazy maniac fish so I find the swings can be pretty severe

It's pretty conservative though, I agree. The money doesn't really matter too much for me, I'm not in a major rush to try make a load (which I know sounds silly), it's just the love for the game

Yeah each to their own of course, and it's what makes you feel most comfortable, I just know people who go for the 35-40bi and at anything less than 100nl it is just not necessary. The players don't improve a tonne

Getting to 350 is quite a lot tougher than 300 because it's probably an extra 20k hands of not run bad and play good which combine maybe 30% of the time and all it takes is a 10 downswing to mentally put you miles off. I'd rather run good at 5nl hit 300-320 then move to 10nl hope to run good and reach 380 and then be comfortable at that stake and move down when I hit 300.
