I think I'll need help building a new one! Laugh
I bought myself a laptop last year with poker winnings but my pc hasn't been changed much since I bought it in 2009..

I've been told that newegg is the nuts to buy parts here in Canada.

Only one exam left this semester, can't wait for it to be over!
I'm still working on my plo, I'd say I'm seeing progress. Will be nice to have a few days to put in lots of volume.

Haven't been too serious on Unibet, mostly open sitting people on my usual stake and lower. I'd need to log in earlier to put in a good session when there's more traffic. Might go play some live poker tomorrow, have had the itch for a while.

Today's plo session. kinda swingy.

So much for live poker, forgot how miserable it makes you feel. People are bad but going from multi tabling heads up to 30 hands an hour is just painful.

One 25bb River call I'm not happy I made, otherwise just normal variance vs people who 5x with any suited Kx.

One last exam to study for and then it's back to the online grind!

School is done for the semester and I'm happy about it! Gives me a few weeks with much less to do. I'll work some shifts at my old job around new year's as they always need guys and that'll make me some extra money. Poker wise it's going great, splitting my volume between MPN and Unibet depending on the time I'm online.
PLO is also going pretty good. Seems like a few of us are transitioning right now, there are so many fun players I can see why. Here's my overall MPN graph from the past few weeks after I've had my first coaching. I've just increased my tables from 4 to 6 without feeling overwhelmed.

Also if anyone is interested, I've found http://plo-trainer.com/ which basically has you ranking a hand from 0 to 100 on the overall % of plo hands scale. Nice to see the spots where I'm right and those where I'm way off Laugh

Since my last post I've withdrawn the money I had on Unibet, nothing wrong with them as far as I'm concerned just want to generate my rake at one site for now, I'll redeposit there sometime in the future.
My overall ev playing plo is getting better too, I'm feeling more and more comfortable playing. Went on a nice upswing around Christmas but it all came crashing down today Laugh

I'll take a day off from poker tomorrow to see some friends, I'll come back to the grind Thursday with a fresher mind!

Happy new year to everyone!
I've got a few goals set for myself for January, I'll try to do my best to get them done. I want to..

-Play 20k hands of PLO. Not too ambitious of a volume goal but I want them to be well played hands, not just playing for the sake of volume.
-30 minutes per day of Latin. I've already been working on that for months but now I need really keep to it. Still got 2 classes of it to go through before I graduate. (Anybody wants to coach me in ancient languages? Cheeky )
-Regular poker studying. This one is trickier to define really because it'll depend on the volume done by that point. If I could get around 15 minutes per day of actual poker work and studying I'd be happy.

That's pretty much it for my goals for the next month. I'll probably post a graph at 10k and another one at 20k hands. Since I only have to worry about my classes besides poker, it's only a matter of discipline.

Great 2017 to you all!

HNY mate! 20k hands of PLO..;.COUNT ME IN! Have you seen the hands @Prostaker and @redrooski24 have been posting? So sickkkkkkkk
Posted 7 years ago
Hey Jon!
Yeah I saw all their hands, great to see their thought process.
So far I've played some hands but uni is taking more time than expected. Still going to try to stick to my goals though!

Wow haven't posted here a a few weeks now. I played on track for my goals until around Jan 12th or so. Really didn't have much time with school and when I did have time, it was too late in the day to have good enough traffic to play.

Also a few friends made a bet that I wouldn't be able to stay away from poker for a month, now that this and school is under control I'll get back to grinding.

I also opened a broker account with my bank to invest some of my money. Anybody got some experience with that? I'd be happy to chat about it Smile

Anyways best of luck to you all

My hands so far playing this month. Slightly over EV but happy with the way I'm playing for far since coming back.

I've got some review to do now, my play has gotten a bit tighter then I'd like it to be. Funny thing is while my vpip has gone down my 3bet has gone up. At least that's good. Feels good to be back and to run great too Laugh

Solid work and keep up that 3betting aggression! Take it back to the streets.

Thanks Jon! Loving all the stuff you guys are planning for PLO as well.

I feel better playing now, more relaxed as I feel like I have a better idea about what to open and what hand to 3bet. I'm still running pretty good this year so far, having a good time and looking forward to moving up soon.

My volume is still not what I'd like it to be, but with school it's harder to find as much time as I thought I'd have. That's my overall graph since I got my first coaching a few months ago.

Nothing incredible I'm happy to see it go into the right direction.
Best of luck to you all!

OVI, are you related with Romania in any way ? I am asking because OVI is one of diminutive we use here for Ovidiu,
which is my name, anothe one being OVA Smile

Thank you for your understanding.

No worries Smile

Well I'm a french speaking Canadian, so the closest I am to Romania is speaking french and studying Latin for the past few years. but that's still fairly far Laugh

Alright so slow and steady but everything's going well.
I'm now taking a serious shot at plo4. Could have gone straight to it by depositing more but I like the idea of building a roll from the smallest stake.
So far it's being going great, less 10-20bb stacks than at plo2 but the standard of play is pretty much the same. Graph so farAttached Image

Obviously insignificant sample but it feels good for my confidence.

For the investments I talked about a few weeks ago, so far I've invested around 40% of my account balance.

My consumer positions as well as the ETF I bought are for the long term, no rush. I'm using a value approach, don't want to spend my days trading just yet.

I've got a decent sized position (for my budget Laugh ) in a gold mining company. The price went down along with gold for the past few weeks so I've been able to get my cost per share down by buying more into it.

Now the price of gold has picked up since the fed's decision to raise rates this week, I'm not too far from selling those shares for a decent profit. But there again, I don't mind waiting a few months for my price, it's an established company so I can live with the risk of holding them.

I'm looking forward to my tax return for more investment money. My goals for the next few weeks will be about playing more at plo4 and not focusing so much on the value of my investments, I've found it hard not to look at them multiple times per day. I'd like to get some more index funds too but prices are so high right now, I'm waiting for the right opportunity.

Lol yeah, if only I could just keep winning Laugh

So gold is going up, not as much as I'd like but can't complain. Not in a rush to sell anyways.

Pokerwise i'm doing good, here's march graph so far: Attached Image

I'll try to get to about 12k hands before the month ends. This is all on MPN where I'm getting around 400 hands an hour. I'd be happy to get that seeing how many hours this month went into uni stuff. I'm raking much more at plo4 than I was at plo2 where most small pots don't go over the 20 cents mark so I'm considering depositing on another room on MPN sometime in April or Mai to get a nice deposit bonus.

Anyways best of luck to you all!

Where do you buy your gold from or do you just stick with gold mining shares (the latter is very violate). If you hold on to them for a few years they'll see a decent size increases esp with a recession hits in the near short/meidum term.
Posted 7 years ago
I don't own any actual gold as of now, I've got some silver though but that's much easier to buy. I'm holding some gold mining shares, considering maybe buying into a gold etf, something like ZGD (on the TSX). I'm still over 60% in cash so I've got lots of room to buy more.
Do you have any gold? I couldn't find a reliable place that could ship to me for close enough to spot price to want to get any yet.

I use Bullion Vault, you kind of need to own around £3k or more as there is a holding fee of $8/m. They also do silver, I looked into buying it but it seems to cost more than holding and I don't see too much of a need to hold it just yet, the world isn't in that bad of shape.
