Variance + rake is a bitch, man. And it doesn't matter 200k or 2M hands, you can still win 1/2 or less than this other guy who plays exactly the same. And this is why graph's doesn't matter really.

ProJondi: feels like you never know lol

I think you hit the nail on the head here. Losing/break even stretch of 30k hands obviously sucks, but the sad truth of the matter is that due to the nature of variance 30k or even 200k hands is just a drop in a proverbial poker bucket. You can easily go on a 100buy-in downswing in hold'em while still having high enough skill level to be a winner in the long run. And the fact that this unlikely scenario is technically possible brings a lot of uncertainty to this whole poker thing. Here's an article on the matter: CLICK

Long story short. Variance exists, it's huge (most people underestimate it), and you can't do anything about it other than becoming as good of a player as you possibly can (and it looks like this is precisely what you're doing). Every second you spend on talking or thinking about your misfortune only makes things worse and you could be spending these seconds on becoming a better player which is the only thing that can make things better. It's obviously that simple only in principle since we're emotional beings and it's hard to not to get pissed off or depressed when you're losing at the tables, but being aware of the principle makes resolving the issue easier.

...and at the very least gives one something positive to focus on.

Even those graphs don't mean much though... I'm guessing that's taking samples of his best and worst and medium over long term. Who know's if when the crappy line sample was because he was playing worse? Or making more calls and working on an area of his game and unsure and not clear minded. And the best sample when at the top of their game and really on point. Basically it just says we are all human and if it was really that random where we could BE or be a huge winner over 200k hands then we're all fucked. It just shows there all players will go through patches where they are more on form and not on form tbh. We can't say through 2 million hands that a player always plays 'exactly the same' none stop. It just means variance will affect us and we'll have times when we don't play well and times when we do.

I always wonder if the way to stop that br checking tilt is to try to stop looking or to just try more to understand why you are looking...

New week, last week is now reviewed and left behind us.

This week has started out well, nice morning chat with @CrazyCookie got me back on track again Smile

We set up a plan for the week and im super excited to follow it Smile

Had a short 1,5h session this morning , got into a couple of tough situations and in my opinion i made the correct desicion everytime, happy about that Smile

I also got KK vs AA and i just realised that im super happy to get in KK preflop since its a profitable play, this time he happened to have the 1 hand that beats me.

excited for the evening session,

Now im gonna complete todays tasks, see ya later!

A thing of beauty. It's always fun to get one of those though it's sometimes hard to get a lot of value from them.

This week have been going well, i have been kicking myself in the butt and been working hard to make this week a great one thx for the help @CrazyCookie

So far iv been handling the bad beats and misstakes iv made well, and not have had them effect my play, until todays session.

It's hard... im still gonna fight through this week and make it a great one even if it would end up beeing a losing one.
Misstake i did today was 1 buyin at 100nl, and i quit after this happened, but the fact that i got angry and lost focus totally after the hand is what makes me upset. If i just notice i made a misstake and continue on playing my best thats fine... but i dont like it when i get emotional.

I did get angry before starting to play this morning ( personal ), but i still did my full warmup including 15 minutes of meditation.

Theese things seem to happen when i try and go for a lenghty session, its fucking tough to be focused throughout O_o

oh well, going to the supermarket and gonna cook a nice meal before my evening session start, have some family time and crush the Friday drunks.

Happy weekend everyone!

Back to beeing very results oriented (cash):?

Cant help myself to look at the graph after a session anymore, been playing fairly well , struggled friday morning and also saturday morning... crazy shit going on today.

I get tilted when my big bluffs fail, i think the reason is cuz i am not super sure if they are profitable bluffs? how do we know? Cheeky
Posted 7 years ago
Its simple man, if you do not know, do not do it, you don`t need to, there are enough people doing it to make money from that big bluffs are just unnecessary and a bad thing, a lot of players do and it really affect`s there winning line, and then they turn around and blame variance, while still doing the big bluff`s and the big hero call`s etc.
just my opinion good luck on the tables man

Wow, last week was amazing, lifewise and pokerwise Smile

I made a plan for the week last monday, set goals for the day everyday , 14k hands ect ect... i completed basicly everything and also played some of the best poker of my life , shoutout to @w34z3l for a couple of words getting my on the right track again , and shoutout to @CrazyCookie for helping me sooo much with the mental game, forever greatful to theese 2 Smile

So yeah i played like 15-16k hands ( lost my hands from yesterdays evening session, dont know where they are ).

But i almost turned this horrible month into profit in just 1 week lol, i hope we can continue in this pattern Smile

the massive upswing was basicly a 10 minute period where i got AA vs AK 3 times all in preflop and QQ vs A8s all in preflop, all of them held Smile

September is comming to an end, happy to have repaired some horrible bad run last week and continued abit this week also Smile

I got confirmation that Prostaker will take me on for a stake at 100nl if i choose to do so Smile super happy to hear that, my reason to why i would take the staking path is to try and accelerate my learning with

-5h private coaching
-active group with the same goals
-runitonce subscribtion, ect.. ect..

My plan is to decide in october and take on the stake half way of october or the start of november.

October for me is going to start out with some live event in Finland

They are running "The Finnish Open" 1-9th of October, i will be there during the whole series and participate in 2 events and the rest of the time i will grind the cashgames.

330€ KO with 20 minute levels, 1 day event.
550€ Main event 40 minute levels 3 day event.

Cashgames i will mostly be playing 2,5€/2,5€ and if we do well take some small shots at 5€/5€ as long as the games look good Smile

I am pretty sure i will be seeing alot of Ziigmund and other famous finns this week, wich is always exciting Smile

That's the plan so far, have a good one!

I'm glad to hear things are getting better. Staking is indeed an interesting opportunity. Onwards and upwards!

Hey buddy still following with interest! With regards to the staking........I am just coming to the end of my first month with @Prostaker and really could not recommend them enough! The amount of time Nicklas is prepared to put in to his stakees and his professionalism is excellent! Plus the additional benefits it is a great opportunity!
