Procrastinator's poker journey

Posted 8 years ago

Hello everyone. My name is Alexandr. I am 23 year old poker enthusiast from Belarus.
First of all, let me apologize for my not perfect english, 'cause most of my english knowledge comes from youtube/9gag and a bunch of other sites:D
So i decided to start a poker blog. "Why do you need it?" - you ask. Because I have a problem. No. I have a HUGE PROBLEM. Procrastination. Sometimes i wish someone gave me time machine so i can go to the past and beat the shit out of myself, 'cause I've had a lot of problems in my life because of my laziness. So i would appreciate a couple of words from you guys to keep me motivated.

My poker journey so far:
I started playing poker in 2013. At first it was live playmoney games. Then I've come to the internet and started learning a little bit about the game and strategies.
My first poker deposit was $20 on pokerstars, when they had some kind of carnival because of 800 millionth tornament or something like this. I got couple of sng and mtt tickets and ran pretty good and won ~$200. Then I started playing cash. But because of my laziness i wasn't playing many hands. After this i changed a couple of poker rooms: stars - fulltilt - ipoker and stopped at ongame network. It was my firs attemt to become better at poker. It was that time when i've come to pokervip and started reading articles, watching videos and learn the game.I want to say thanks to Jon and all pokervip team for giving as such a good learning material.
Until may 2014 i was playing Strobe 10nl at pokerheaven. I was doing pretty well. 15-20bb/100 playing 30k hands/month. It might be not good enough for a lot of you gust, but in my country having 400-500$ a month is pretty good. Of coure, because of my laziness I haven't tried to go at 20nl or/and play more hands.
In may 2014 i was drafted into the army (not sure if correct - google translate) and came home in november 2015.

Here comes my 3 month long unsuccessful search of job and I have enough of this.

What to expect from this blog.
My plan: every monday I will be doing a progress report of my previous week poker journey. I think I probably will also do a video review of the most interesting hands of the week. It will be more fun for you guys to see my thought process and slap my face with mistakes i make Rolling on the floor laughing and it will help me practice my english a little bit. During the week I probably will also post some of the interesting hands.

Will be glad to see you guys here
May the force be with you

Nice intro!

Yeah you got the English spot on! I'm not sure if Belarus are an ally or not lol but is Army service something you are forced to do there?

Where are you going to be playing on? And will it be 10NL? Make sure you get involved in the Top 500 rake race on here for added $$$.

Looking forward to following this!

Love the intro man and your English is great!

The army pic is pretty badass! What did you take away from that experience?

Really glad you enjoy the site and it will only get better and better! Lots of new coaches joining us this month.

So here goes my Week 1 report.
Didn't really manage to play as much as I wanted because of health problems ( f*cking genyantritis). But it's better now, so I hope to play more this week.

As you can see i tried to play zoom more and it didn't go really well, so I will not play zoom anymore.

I'm playing bad in small pots, so i'll watch some videos to try and fix it

Forgot to write in the first post that I'm currently playing on pokerstars but in near future will pobably move to betfred. Decided to start from 2nl to remember everything i forgot in 1,5 years of army.
Week 2 goals:
-Play only regular tables
-Fix small pots leak
-Play more than 10k hands

Yep, every healthy male from 18 to 27 must go to an army for 1,5 years or 1 year if you have higher education

Thanks, Jon.

Probably the most important thing i took away from army is immunity to the idiocy. There is so many stupid things in army, that i just don't have words to describe it. I think it will affect my poker game in a good way, because i think now I'm very tilt resistant and i hope nothing wil change
And of course i met a lot of good people, made couple of good friends and overall learned to understand people better

Looks like week one went well and some nice honest targets and goals there!

Tilt - resistant? Someone needs to bottle that and sell it! $$$$$$$

Hello everyone. Week 2 report here. Haven't played this week at all because I decided not to wait and change room to betfred now. But because of one "not good" bank i couldn't deposit to my neteller account. Thanks to my friend in Minsk, who have some connections in one of the "good" banks i got my hands on the new mastercard in like 2 days. Then betfred asked me to send them docs. Today they activated my account, so i'll continue my journey today.

Wish these sites, countries and regulations wouldn't make it so hard for someone to deposit and play poker. The poker world keeps discussing banning of huds, name changes etc etc but maybe the truth is people just have to go through so much to deposit that in the end they don't bother.
