Road to NL 50

Posted 8 years ago

Hi guys,

I decided to open my poker journey where you can follow how I will become NL 50 Top reg on party.

About me: I am Hungarian and I am living in Northamptonshire since 2013. I am an IT engineer and my dream is to become a full time poker pro.
I use to play poker since 2007 but I had a 3 year gap so I started seriously from last year. I was a BE player on NL 10 and sometimes I played some MTT for fun. I won 1200 usd and I decided to hire a coach.. We started from the beginning: Potods, Fe, range construction, and exploitative game, I learned how to evaluate a hand etc. I think we had 8 hours and I started to win on NL 10.
After this, I had several month, when I had more than +7bbb/100 profit. When I wanted to step up to NL 25 always something went wrong. Or my bankroll wasn't enough strong or I was scared money or just got a bad run. So I couldn't stay on Nl 25. I think my technical skill is enough for nl 25 but my mental skill is not.
So now I want to make a strong bankroll to nl 25 and improve my mental game.
Also I would like to be a staked player as well. Why? because I know how hard is to improve your skills alone. I did for several months (I read lot's of strategy articles, watched a lot's of video but I still was a BE player) And after some private coach lessons everything changed. And the other thing is the money. You don't need to stress yourself and you can concentrate just to learn and play.

I started a challenge on 11th May. There is a micro competition between the Hungarians that's why started 11th of May.
Every day I will work on my mental game, till end of the month and I will try to bring my A game every day. And if I can't bring my A game that doesn't means that the challenge failed. I need to carry on the next day with more mental work and bringing my A game. Also I made an excel sheet and I am marking how much money I lost with bad play.

What you can find if you are visiting my blog: Every week minimum 2 post, interesting hands, every Sunday graphs, and pictures about my hobby: travelling and Diving.

oh my username on party is renemesis26 and I am playing around 50K hands/moth

I think it's good. He can call you with JJ+,AKs,AKo. Against this range you have 69.55%. But sometimes he can call you with 2 pairs KJ, K10. I think a raise is better than the shove because then you will go against a weaker range.

But preflop this is a value 3 bet. If you get a 4 bet fold.

I forgot to put AQ in villain range Surprised

But still you have 53% against this range

What about KK, 89, and some other suited gutshots like J9ss etc?:)
Posted 8 years ago
KK is included
only J 9 of spade can call i guess.
i'm not sure how much that changes my equity.
will hv to recalculate.

Yes seeing villain's card not but I thought maybe he can call me with a Kq or Ak.
But you are true he is a very honest player with 55wonsd, and 26wtsd. I think he will call me just with better cards

After first week

Attached Image

I am really happy with my first week. I worked every day on my mental game and started to read the Mental game of poker,
I made my Tilt profil and I started every session with warm-up .
In this week I lost 1.1 BI because of tilt (herocall without thinking). I think this is very good for the first week and I hope till the end of the month
I won't have this leak any more. After that I will work one month on my technical skill before I will try again NL 25.

Sunday is off day. No poker Smile

for the next week the goal is 15K hand, A game and working my mental game every day.

How do you train your mental game?
Posted 8 years ago
In the book Mental Game of poker you can find a lot's of Technics to practice that skill, and I made a Tilt profile where I wrote down every signs of tilt. If I observe any signs of tilt during the play, I am frustrated, angry or just feel any emotion I stop playing and write down what I am feeling, Why am I feeling and why is not logical that feeling.
Also I wrote a warm-up text, what I need to read before the session (about the long term, fish can have luck.. etc)
Search erikstenqvist on youtube he has some meditation video, and warm up video for poker. Sometimes I starting a session with him and he helps a lot to bring my A game.

Thank you for these details. I want to work more on the mental, just I do not know exactly what to focus on. Looking on youtube what you told me, thanks!
