Muha! I do like the sites that allow you to change screen-names, you get some funny ones, I tend to screenshot them as well, can also tell from usernames if someone is a rec or not, like if someones username is "Liverpool4lyf" or something then... fish! And if someone calls themself "pro" it means fish. On the other hand is someones name is "DonkeyPlayer", they're much more likely to be a solid reg!

Had my first lesson with the mighty @Scrubx which in the end ran into 2 hours, but we were having fun so that's all good. A nice relaxed but focused atmosphere and a new experience.
Learned a few things I hadn't even heard of already so that bodes well for later. We played 2 tabs of speed 5 and got into what felt like really tough spots ever y 2nd hand, it wasn't, it just felt like it.
Of course the first time I play a session on my own I got smashed by a maniac for like 5BI and he only started with 1.xx euro! Insane stuff, all in 45cc v my AQcc and hitting it like a boss, or the 43 hitting 33J v my AA and all that fun stuff. Apart from the losing part it was a fun game.

I'm thinking I can earn enough rakeback monthly to pay for a lesson or 2; if so I'll do it for a while as 4 or 5 lessons are a good start but I would like to go further with it now.

So, like me, get a coach if like you think you're winning less than you feel you can and being self taught is hard going. Obviously biased but I can recommend Scrubx, he's professional, nice, knows his stuff and he isn't expensive either.

Embrace the variance guys and gals, embrace that variance! Nodding

Been trying to open up a bit last couple of days. I was a 21/17/5 standard nit/tag but been playing 29/25/9 and it's fun but gets tiring after a while. A good pointer for taking breaks then.
I also have ditched my 'standard' rfi ranges for a more intuitive approach for now and see what coach says about what to raise and from where with no hud stats. My steal % success is insane and 3betting nets 50% of the time, so it's going good so far over 40K or so.

Apart from that I've been ill a bit, sweating like Cyril Smith in a playground all night last night. Tried to put a session in but played awful so sat out much quick, as you do.

I may start a new db for the coaching stuff, we'll see, it might be nice to compare the old and the new without having to fuck up a load of filters, my normal state of affairs.

Started nl10 proper yesterday for a few hundred hands. It seemed to go ok but we'll see.

Things I do differently:

Nice shiny new database,
Hide the cash balance in the client,
HM2 opens and runs automatically under the Home tab so I can't see how last session went,
No graphs,
No checking results,

I'm also going to record my sessions at 30 mins each so I can review.

I'm allowing myself to look at the end of the month but that's it.

It's not as hard as I thought now that my bankroll is nearer a comfortable 400e, enough for me at this limit.

Plan is to move to nl20 by summer and play speed again, it doesn't run at nl10.

I got myself H2N and ipoker tools, both of which I haven't set up yet. H2N is apparently the nuts but their support sucks, you just gotta work it out yourself really, I suppose.

Posted 6 years ago
It will be the working it out yourself bit. From what I have seen of H2N it is pretty badass, but, to me, didn't seem that easy to customize. May find just buying a pre-set one will do the trick
Posted 6 years ago
@fawltyfelix yeh looks like I'll be doing it on my lonesome for now. H2N seems more for the pro guys anyway I think so maybe I'll stick with HM2 for now.

Nl10 not going bad, just doubling up off the odd reg and then giving it away to the fishy guys who can hit anything. don't know what the results are because of above so no garf and irrelevant sample size anyway.
Not had my other lesson yet, coach is busy. Meanwhile I've collected 40e rakeback so that's a couple of lessons in the bag for later.

Nearly the most awkward kicker ever. Weaker I fold turn v the so far very passive reg, stronger and it's all gravy baby!

Maybe he done me good, whateva.

Gonna study some notes now.

So all this not looking lark isn't making any difference at all really, except I'm not checking results every few hands like I was before. So, with no idea how much I'm winning I just get on with it. We'll see how I feel about it after a disaster session or three, eh!? Laugh

Been at nl10 standard tables but if all is reggish or too quiet as is often the case in the mornings, I stick in a couple of nl20 capped at 50bb in, just for fun, otherwise it's 4 tabs of nl5 speed.

Adding to my coaching sessions may have to take a back seat for a few weeks to, got a nice bill from my council which needs paying first. Oh well, wont be long I'll be winning enough not to bother about such things.

Off out with the muttley now, stay dry.

You’re playing on iPoker right? Are you able to get your HUD working on the speed tables?

Posted 6 years ago
@fergrberger no hud working on speed, only standard tabs so I dont play it much, just if tables are poor or lacking.

Had my first shocker at the office for nl10 for a (-)4BI over 500 hands or so, just a tits up today is all; acted bad and ran bad, not a great combo to think of playing.
Shame, as I was only a few euro short of 400e.

Chill out and rebuild and dream of a 14bb winrate.
Posted 6 years ago
Never fun having those kinds of sessions, makes it all the sweeter when you get it back though!
Posted 6 years ago
Also, dreaming of a 14bb win rate?! What sort of sicko has a 14bb win rate?! Wink

Got nearly all of it back now so here's a couple of fun hands:

... and you've just gotta love ye olde limp/reraise trap:

So, back to nearly where I was a couple of days ago I think, cant be far off and I've accumulated another 20e rakeback which is always nice and I'm wondering if I'll make the $20 from the PokerVIP Challenge this time, that must be close to.

No idea what my winrate is but it's nowhere near sicko level. Maybe I need to move to where the water is more Irish ... Bowing

Hey any winrate in the green is better than the majority of players out there!

Lost 1/2 my roll over the last week or so. Had one winning session for a mighty 1.7e and that was it, just brutal. Anyway, my coach and I went through the biggest disasters but most of it was just 'whatever', 'standard' and 'meh.' stuff so that at least made me feel better that I wasn't drowning. Multiway limped pots nearly every hand are hard to win at without a little rungood as we know. Raise to what you like, you wont be hu, which is just too tricky from the sb with AK/AQ.
Coach says I'm not a total loss so I'll get there by the summer.
Speaking of when, I still think I can be at nl20 by then, even if I've plummeted back to the trenches and nl4/nl5 speed for a bit.

Right, I'm off to borrow a baby, balance it on my chest and see if that helps ...

Laters.

Things have been a bit up and down last week or so, fortunately a little more up than down which is nice.

I'm concerned about rumblings from here and 2+2 that Betfair and Ipoker in general are botfests. I'm a bit fed up having to keep moving sites so for the moment it is what it is, but I expect I'll have to make a decision very soon if I'm to continue playing, I'm pretty sure I'm not up to battling against bots and players with solver software running yet.
It's just all so disheartening isn't it and I wonder if it's all worth it, but I'll plod along for now and check out a few sites I still haven't got accounts with. Not that there can be many of those left I joined so many with the poker league thing.

Confidence a bit low at the moment, mainly due to the above issues, I just feel suspicious of every player name now and it's uncomfortable enough that I have cut my playing right down to hardly anything. If I see all the same names I sit out, it's sad - and no I wouldn't recognise a bot or a player with solvers if I saw one.
Maybe they don't even populate my limits of 5 and 10nl.

Feeling a bit down today now.

Well my br is growing at a mini-rate but that's ok, up is better than down in this case, just forget about any of that positive redline, playing balanced and all that other bs and it's all good.

Oh ye, ranges, always put villain on a range ...

Yeah I know, I know, but sometimes though, ya just gotta push that optimism to the max!

Br was leaking like a incontinent baby for about 10 days so it's nice to get that crap turned around, even for the shortterm.
I'm also getting better at playing multiway pots and bet sizing, so that's a huge improvement and so useful in the games I play.

Oh and it's silly name time again. No avatar which is perhaps just fortuitous! Laugh

I'm now trying to figure out why weaktight wont post hands in here, is there perchance a secret method for Ipoker?

Have a nice weekend.
Posted 6 years ago
Back to 10nl - just, but it seems a lot more of a regfest who know a bit, maybe need to adjust play time for that.
Still no hand posting with weaktight or some other sites, I think there must be a secret key to it after all.

Mrs mal not very well so volume down but that's ok, getting my game on point for what will hopefully be a solid stint at this limit. I may even need to take notes on a couple decent seeming types, n of whom iso-a fish and flopped quad Js v me and I paid with my Js over Ts boat, dammit.

Anyway, need to invent a dog that doesn't poo or want walkies because holy frozen peas Batman it's bloody freezing out there again.

Have you figured out the hand posting issue?
