Had some nice news Saturday, my sister is giving me some dosh to play poker next week because she forgot my happy birthday, aw shucks. Anyway, it might be enough to play 20nl speed but not sure yet. I expect I'd better fork some of it out to SWMBO to, just for romance sake, y'know how it is.

Coach reckons I should take a shot at 20nl and see how it goes, says I've improved a lot in some aspects but thought it a bit weird I'd gone backwards a bit in others, like SB play. That's not weird bro, that's just a microstakes player learning 5 things and forgetting 3, nothing to see here, move along init.

Looking forward to smashing 20nl next week now after loads of study and a couple of coachings,
I mean, what could possible go wrong? …

Got myself a new setup:

Zoostorm Core i7-6700 quad core, 8gb RAM, 2TB HDD, DVDRW, Windows 10. no idea if that's good or not.

Large Piranha PC 2g writing and computer desk with 3 drawers and cupboard. cool desk, loads room and went up easy.

Cherry Tree extra padded high back reclining office chair with footrest. Very nice and got it in a sale.

mixcder Bluetooth headset. 4 days trying to get them to work but seem ok for now at last. I'll keep the old ones for now though, don't really trust these noo-fangled wotsname things yet.

In other news, got a juicy £800 bankroll and dipped my toe in the 20nl speed streets for a few BI profit so a happy bunny for now.

Having problems receiving emails through outlook though, getting hours of delay, like 5 hours+; jeeze, I could walk there and knock their door quicker ffs! Any ideas? Had similar problems yourself maybe? I've tried a few things but I'm definitely a fish at I.T. these days.

Anyway, hopefully I can get hold of @Scrubx for a few lessons now before it all goes tits up!

Well it's been nice and conmfortable in the chair with lots of spce on the desk that's for sure, unfortunately had to drop back to 10nl for a bit after getting my butt kicked at 20 for a loss of nearly 20BI and I only played maybe 5 sessions! HM2 didn't want to play either but seems to be ok now, so it's start again time!

I'll stay where I am (10nl) for the rest of the month and see how it goes ,but I'll make a 20nl vid for the coach and see what he says about it. Frankly, I don't think it's all that different to 5nl, the usual mix of regs and gamblers who just won't fold, losing is just so much more expensive is all.

The worst part is the normal games are so slow compared to 4 speed tables but the standard isn't any better.

It is a big jump from 10 to 20nl money wise, every bet is doubled, every BI loss is doubled and it does seem to hit harder when you hit the downswing as it seems a much bigger loss compared to the previous stake. I don't know many who play at the 16nl level, but it does seem to be a nice little place to jump to IMO

No 16 limit on ipoker unfortunately, I jumped from 5nl to 20 because 10nl speed doesn't run, they'd rather run it up.
Having lost a few BI at 20nl I can relate to the bigger hurt, but not playing out of my ability there much, just a bit of runbad and some mistakes, nothing drastic I think.
I've been watching charlie Carrel's bankroll challenge lately, entertaining and I picked a couple of things up. He plays more along the lines my coach advocates for me I think, rather than all that balance and gto stuff, it's more fun to do to down in the trenches as well.


Anyway, down to 733e (includes rb I just added in) from 805e and if I drop below 700e I'll step down to nl10 normal tables for a bit and rebuild. I want to play a lot more next month to. Because speed is mostly a regfest until the evening it's tough to get in more than say 1k hands, particularly since I reduce my speed tables to 2, it stops me autopiloting, a serious leak for microregs.

Anyway, it's nearly beer-o-clock, have fun.

So I've decided 20nl speed is as soft as 5nl speed on ipoker but that doesn't mean I'm crushing because I aint, far from it. Lost around 20BI so dropping to 10nl standard tables fora bit, may even go to 5nl speed, we'll see.

BR stands at 477 as of this morning. ?I ran like a boss for while yesterday then it came back and bit me on the arse, from 3.75BI up to 3.25BI down without a blink. Along with a couple of other brutalizing days of rng it put paid to my dreams of stardom for a while.

Still kinda jumping up and down between 10nl and 20nl but if I said 'runbad' my coach would just say 'sample'.

Jumping speed games from 5nl straight to 20nl definitely was a culture shock and took me a few K hands to settle down. Lots of 28/26/8 and 35/28/12 guys who just hate folding and fight for many more of the smaller pots the nl5 mob just chk/folded.

I have a year subscription for H2N and bought a HUD (GT-Simple) because I was a lazy git and couldn't be arsed to faff around for a week making my own. Kinda funny that I'm not even reading the hud properly yet so what was the impatience all about then! I've gotten so used to not having a hud I sort of just skim over it.

So, off to study for a bit then I get the honour of preparing the kitchen for a paint job, then it's clean my shed out time. Jelly yet?

So from 477 and fading gradually(or not so gradually) away, to 903 and I'm the best in the world again init; easy game.


Had a lesson from the mighty scrubx and discovered I'd slipped back into some old ways after the brutality of recent sessions, like lacking aggression, betting too small, blah blah blah, just all the 'standard' micro nitreg stuff of course.
Got that sorted and immediately starting feeling I was playing a bit more like it again, a bit of rungood later and there ya go, back in the groove!


I'm feeling so good I might even mow the lawn …

Thank you sir. As I mentioned in our chat, the br was 477 again by coincidence after a few big hits but broke the £1K barrier on Friday night so all is good in malworld again. that's quite a heater as you said lol.

You seem to be going along very nicely to and from what I've seen you definitely are better at river bluff-catching than me that's for sure; nice job and let's keep having fun and being happy winners!

Next target for the br is 1500, hopefully by then I'll have more skill. Looking to take a small shot at 50nl nosebleeds by then so will need a few lessons, no rush though, just when I feel ready will do fine.

Next target for me is putting people on a narrow range. When I get it right and check after the hand is over sometimes I had the hand spot on, usually in more passive spots though but it's something. I'm bluffing their pants off so that will go nicely alongside it.
I should be better at it already but I think it's more of an intuitive thing for me, using timing and bet sizing and stuff gained from experience, rather than actually working it out properly. taking a leaf out of Grocker6' playbook and saying stuff out loud until I get it down helps.

I've had worse when I first sat in to 20nl and to be fair, I ran quite well towards the end of it.


So, added my rakeback today which boosted me to 1250e and still sitting at 1169e after the loss and rake so plodding along nicely and having some laughs at showdown.


Off to watch a vid with a nice coffee now then walk the poo machine who's 12 now and snores like a band saw.

So I sat back in later on yesterday because Mrs Mal loves watching Big Brother and it's companion programme, but Mr Mal definitely does not.


Don't have a graph like this too often guys, it feeds the ego but it feeds the rake even more (I raked 39 euro)!





Kinda sucks when the missions keep giving me a 5euro bonus to clear on that spinney wheel thing, I want the big prizes! I've had plenty of tickets to those 3 handed spin and go type games but you get 5BB so it's a lottery I keep running blank in.

Well, my teeth are crumbling and I have to withdraw half my roll to pay for a fucking dentist! Gonna have one filling; 10 extractions (yes, you read it right - 10) and then it's falsies time. Needs two courses of treatment to fix me. On top of that my shoulder is seizing up so don't know how long I can play for, it's ok for now but hurts a bit after 30 minutes or so.

Poker is all a bit meh lately, not sure if it's me or not but kinda treading water at 805e; patience needed sometimes and don't try forcing the agression. to make something happen, it'll only end in tears - again. I only play 4 tables for now to.

I am definitely not beating the game off my own back though, barely break-even or nearer the truth just slightly losing, so thank fuck for rakeback I say. However, it's a long way from dropping around (-)12bb/100 which is where I was at for weeks last couple of months. Surprised I wasn't banned for fucking chip dumping!

Made a street by street hud but it doesn't change when the street comes up so maybe they don't work on ipoker anymore, I just dunno. Shame really because it took me a while to make. I do have a purchased (GT Simple Adaptive) one but frankly I don't like it much and w34z3l's one is too complicated for me in my games so fuck it, no hud it is for a bit then init!


Other news is I gotz a couple more extractions to go on Wednesday, if it goes like last time it'll be fine but that pink stuff they use for making impressions of teeth is yucky.
Doggy going to the vet for a checkup the same morning to, she's 12 now with arthritis so goes at my pace these days. The fireworks scared her a lot last night, she gets nervous if someone raises their voice.

I got my butt handed to me at 20nl speed so I've dropped back to 10nl standard tables (I only play 4 or 5) to sort my game out and recover my mojo. I was also totally unprepared for the agression levels. I'll hopefully be confident and competent enough by the end of the month to get back at 'em.
Apart from that the game is going ok at the moment and building quietly.

Working hard at blind play and 3B pots oop now as I seem to be not completely incompetent in other situations. Made some new ranges and tweaking my hud.
I'm surprised to say I'm hoping (dreaming) a shot at 20nl will be possible by next summer but we'll see how it goes, no rush.

Dentist again today, more extractions so not much play going to happen.

Onward and upward it is then.
