- CBet IP and OOP exactly where it should be

2 sessions

1st one two days ago was ok
2nd one today was a catastrophe

I am soooo unbelievably bad at this game... Villain owns me in every way. As soon as i think i might have something they fold. And when I have air, i get called relentlessly.... Fish call down with 3rd pair. Reg bluffcatches me everytime...

I feel like this too sometimes. A lot of the time actually. I find hand analysis makes me feel better. Regardless of how I think I played it I know I'm a better player afterwards and I look forward to playing again. Keep at it. Study, play, review, repeat.

Thanks for the kind words

I have to be honest to myself: my sessions atm look always the same... i play good for some time, I am profitable, everything is fine until I tilt away my stacks.

I am working on my mental game mostly and hope to conquer this problem soon. otherwise my roll is melting away.

I'd start off playing shorter sessions and/or less tables. If you play 45 minutes say, try dropping to 30 minutes and see how that goes for a week.
Or if you play 4 tables, try 2 and still drop the session time. Two can be boring actionwise which is the point, it makes one focus on everything else like note taking and looking for betting tells, all that fun stuff.

Thinking about it and finding out just what made me tilt is a good way to start off.

Just some of what I do if I think I'm losing focus.

upside: no tilt
downside: everything else...

I think one of the other issues here, is that you are with a CFP group that is teaching you how to play a balanced strategy. Trying to give you a close approximation to GTO so that you are as unexploitable as possible. This will serve you well as you move up and when you are playing versus unknowns or semi good to better regs. I see it in tons of your posts. Blue line this, red line that, this stat is where it should be and this one isn't. Winning poker isn't always about hitting all the stats perfectly. In theory, if you do, you should be winning, but versus certain players this just isn't the highest EV.

I can actually say this because when I started my CFP I found a lot of frustration like you did. I started learning about calldowns and minimum defense frequencies and combos and blockers. I start implementing them in my game and find myself losing. I think you need to find a good balance between this type of "GTOish" strategy and an exploitative strategy, based on who you are playing. You seem to always play with a HUD and play on the same sites, so you should have some data on players, to the point, where you can use the balanced unexploitative approach against the regs and unknowns and use a purely exploitative approach versus the bad regs and fish. You should also be able to know your player pool and can even do player pool analysis on the regs to see their tendencies. It took me a awhile to find this balance and I still don't have it nailed.

So in an earlier post you mentioned about a fish calling you down with 3rd pair. Well that is just what fish do. Not saying you should never bluff them, but you really have to be ok with giving up sometimes versus them even though the combo you have is in your bluffing range and is the absolute best most quintessential bluffing combo that you have. Another quick easy example I can give is with a calldown. So lets say you are BBvBU and you call preflop and flop is AXXr, something super dry and the turn and river don't complete any back door flushes or straights, so you end up with a super safe run out and villain, on the BU, fires for 3 streets and this is on your fast fold variant. So a typical calldown would have you defending a ton of your Ax. You would have to to not be exploitable to somebody 3 barreling relentlessly. However, in fast fold with most of your nitty to tight players this is never a call with most of your Ax. Fast fold is full of nits and TAGs who will rarely if ever 3 barrel bluff there and won't 3 barrel for value with less than AK or AQ or better. Its just an exploitative lay down with even something like AT.

I think this also leads to another point. You mix fast fold with normal tables and they are vastly different from a player pool standpoint. As I mentioned most fast fold is just littered with NITS and TAGs who just fast fold there where to monster hands then pile money in to try and get paid. Just stop paying them. Reg tables at these stakes can be filled with all kind of different players and you need to adjust to them all. You can have a couple good regs, a maniac 80/50, a tight passive regfish and a loose passive fish all at one table. I think reg tables are far more profitable than fast fold, especially on Party. Fast fold is great if you just want to fire up tables quick and get playing and need the ability to sit in and out quickly, but if you don't then just play reg tables.

I think lastly, 5nl and 10nl are not the walk in the park they used to be, even 2 or 3 years ago. They are still super beatable and filled with fish, if you table and site select. With all the info about poker out there with sites like this and youtube and twitch it is so much easier for people to learn about poker and get good. There are some really strong players at these lower stakes now and you need to have your game and focus on point to beat them.

Would love to see you play. If you ever want to do a sweat let me know. Chin up and start crushing!

Another good session

nearly 2 hours, 810 hands and +23bb/100

I am quite happy about the way I played today. 1st session was good, 2nd session was even better

positive:
mind is stable
result
high agression in 1st half

negativ:
low agression in 2nd half (e.g. 3 bet too low)

i will keep working on my mental game and according to my studyplan will focus on flop decisions.

Afternoon session

1.5h 661 hands and +27bb/100

In the beginning I did not feel right... my head was light and I tried to focus but it did not work. It took me about 20min to get in the zone but from that moment on everything went great.

positive:
I think when I focus I can keep my red stable
Improving on my 3bets but I think I can do more
better adjustments to player (i will elaborate on that later on)
mind stable

negativ:
3bet from the button is still to low. I like to play in position and flat too many hands

player adjustments: as i punted so much money away during the last weeks, I am focussing more on the players. I mark them as follows
-yellow: thinking player
-red: very good red
-blue: too tight
-green: rec player - fish
-pink: hyperaggro

as @fawltyfelix mentioned I am learning lots of stuff regarding minimum defense frequency, blockers, bluff catchers and so on. These thought-processes are only relevant against yellow and red players.
- blue: As they tend to overfold I can widen my range and bluff more. When they start to pile the money in it is time to let go
- green: a bit stat-dependend as there are stations or fit/fold players. I tighten my 3bet range and mostly bet for thin value. I took all bluffs out on later
streets as they like to look you up
- pink: I tighten up completly, only 3bet premium hands and let them do the work. most of the time they will hang themselves.

Night session to come Smile

Nightsession

right now poker is good Smile

I played a very solid session again. 2.5 hours, 973 hands and +9,73bb/100.

This session was longer because I wanted to clear my cashback on party (you have to achieve a certain amount of points each week to be eligable)

I also managed to have 2 (in words TWO) straight flushes -- I needed one to clear another mission for 30€

I took some hits with ease, and landed some nice hands. in the end i am very happy with today! I really hope that i can keep the spirit high and grind some more tomorrow!!

I hope you had a good easterweekend and I wish you good luck at the tables!
