@fawltyfelix as always thank you so much for taking the time and not only following my blog but also writing those feedback posts. This is very much appreciated.

My plan regarding stepping up to NL10 is exactly what you mention in your 2nd paragraph. I know that having only 20 buyins is way to agressive, especially as I am 6tabling. So I plan to mix in one very juicy looking NL10 table into 5 NL4 tables. I do this because I need some time in order to get used to the much higher amounts of money in play (2,5 times as much) A normal 3bet at NL10 looks like a massive 4bet at NL4.

reviewing my NL10 hands from this afternoon showed me that this could become a huge problem. I was sooooo intimidated by those higher amounts and afraid of losing money that I did not play well (foldet AK to a squeez, because I was to afraid to squeez myselfe in the first place)

from what I have seen the playerpool is exactly the same. so I am not really afraid that I cant deal whith the level skillwise. But mentally this is another story and thats the reason why I prefer the tiptoe aproach.

I do not get hung up on a particular stake lvl. Although I consider stake lvls like football league lvls I play what my skill lvl and bankroll allow. I have the feeling that I beat NL4 now and I just want to face a new challenge. I am definitly not trying to force it and i have shown in the past that i am not too proud to demote myselfe to a lower lvl if my bankroll becomes to small.

regarding my redline: I do not get annoyed with it as much as I used to. Changing the poker site showed me how much the red line is depended on the playerpool. Bet365 had sooooo many unbluffable fish, that the red line had to be massivly negativ. Betfair has fewer fish but more nits.
In the bigger picture I tend to be way to passive when I am not fully focussed on the game. Therefor a rapidly downwards sloping red line shows me that in this paritcular session I did not fight for my pots enough and played to much fit or fold. As long as my green is steadily running upwards I am fine though Smile

Nightsession
2,5 hours 1210 hands and +9,8BB/100

Start of the session was very very bad. I was carddead alot. Some rungood and donating fish in the end of the session seccured a nice solid winrate Smile

Recap of the day: My NL10 adventure cost me 12€ because of a stupid bluff attempt. I really chose the wrong spot here...
At NL4 I was nearly break even.

I am very happy with the volume that i played toda. nearly 2500 hands is very good.

As always I will post some hands in the review section in order to get some feedback from you guys Smile

Something that helped me with the jumps up and the bigger pots was kind of 2 fold.

First was just on my end. As I started coaching and working with the group I am in, we have people across many different stakes so it is easier for us to discuss everything, be it hand histories, theory, whatever, in big blinds. So I started to train my brain to only just think of everything in bb's. We all kind of do it here or there or kind of know it, but I made a point of doing it with everything I did and my group already did it that way.. If you think in bb's that never changes, unless you get deeper or shorter. Like even in a hand history review, don't say he opened to 0.12 and I 3b to 0.36. It's he opened to 3bb and I 3b to 9bb. All my ranges are saved that way, everything I talk about is like that. Its kind of like tricking your brain to take the money out of the equation and just make all of your decisions so that they are plus EV and in bb's

Second, fairly early on in my time with this group, I learned to do some of what you are doing now and that is finding good sites with a fair amount of fish, that have good deals on rakeback and bonuses. I ended up back on Microgaming and a guy in the group introduced me to a tool called MPN Tools. If you have ever seen Stars Helper or anything like those, then you know what it is. It is basically a 3rd party software that interacts with the poker client and can allow you to do a multitude of things, like showing pot odds on the screen, effective stacks, positions, lines. You can set up hotkeys for raise call fold or specific bet sizes. Well, it also allows you to change the display of all the stacks, so that they are shown in bb's. So when I fire up a table and buy in all I see is a big fat 100 under my name. The pot is shown in bb's as well as the bets. This made it soooo much easier when I moved to 20NL. Nothing on the screen changed for me. Albeit, you have to look at your bankroll from time to time, but at least while you are playing you can just focus on the bb's and making the best decision and try not to get thrown off too much by the larger bet sizes and pot sizes.

iPoker has one called iPoker Tools and Party has Party Caption and 888 has 888 Caption and I think Winning Poker Network (US Friendly sites) has WPN Tools. I will say that I have heard iPoker tables are pretty glitchy and sometimes 3rd party software like that can bug the tables out, so I would do the trials to make sure it won't cause problems. They only cost like $30-40 a year to have and they are allowed by the sites.

Thanks for the tipps guys

Afternoon session... omg what a desaster

a bit more than 3.5 hours, 1700 hands -15BB/100

after 100 hands I was 3 buy ins down. veeeery bad spots....

I needet about 2 hours to get back to break even. As i found myself on very nice tables I thought I might keep going... That was a very very bad idea... I folded where I should have called and called where I should have folded. so I finished back down in the doghouse and 2,5buy ins down

so i officially had my first negative BL4 session on Betfair

I think, given what you said about your work schedule, you're doing exceptionally well already. Nice going keep at it! Hug

Afternoon session

2 hours, 992 hands and +22,78BB/100

played very well. I just had 2 very bad calls but other than that I am happy with this session.

I am off to football and will post some hands from yesterday and today in the evening. I hope that my nightsession will go as well as this one Smile

Nice afternoon session:
played 2hours 944 Hands +43BB/100

There is actually not so much to talk about. I played a strong game and made only minor mistakes. I was lucky enough to get paid alot in my spots.

two things I keep on working:
-) uncontested pots: Taking down pots that obviously nobody wants is very profitable. I am doing well in heads-up situations but struggle in 2- 3- or 4way pots. As there are lots of situations where you could take these pots down (especially in position) I try to improve here
-) value betting thinner: My fish are stationy... they like to call flop and turn. On the river though they are able to fold . I have seen lots of spots where I had the NFD or OESD and played flop and turn agressivly and then gave up. Lately I tried to bet/fold the river and this works very nice. I get lots and lots of folds on the river and do not even have to bet big. 1/3pot is absolutly enough.

Tonight I will play some tournaments I qualified in the last weeks and cash in my twister-tickets (about 15) Lets see if i can make some money here.

Funny nightsession

I played about 15 twister. wow they went horribly... i should have made about 25€... instead i only made 10.
I played 2 tournaments and cashed in both about 1 EUR. They were freerolls so thats nice

cash:
2hours 902 hands and -6,6BB/100... I lost the last two hands otherwise it would be exactly 0

The session startet very very very bad. After 400 hands I was 2,5 buy ins down... nothing I could do actually... What worries me is that I am running soooo good example below...

I am off for the next 4 days!! have a nice weekend and cu on monday!!

How many tables are you playing? 450-500 hands an hour is pretty good!

Are twisters the jackpot sit and go's? We can talk some strategy around them if you'd like? I play spins full time on Pokerstars
Posted 6 years ago
Pretty sure twisters are iPokers version of jackpot and think they call them fish party on microgaming
Posted 6 years ago
hey @AshVIP

@fawltyfelix already gave you the answer Smile I only play them because for every 25 status points I get a free ticket to a extreme twister (3seated everybody is all in, winner gets a regular twister ticket (1, 2,5,...€)

So from time to time I play those tickets and hope for some free money. At the moment I do not need any strategy as I really want to get my cash game going, but thanks for the offer Smile

I am 6 tabling, so I get to the 450 hands per hour. This works fine for me.

Afternoonsession

bit more than 2 hours, 1077 hands and +16,25BB/100

after analyzing I an not happy with 1 call that cost me a stack. Other than that I played fine this session. Agression was OK, I made the maximum when I hit the cards. To be fair... I hit them quite a lot Smile

I have the feeling that I start to really understand the concepts I learned so much about. Really grasping the meaning and implication of different strategies helps me alot. It starts with sooo little things like implied odds.... It actually makes sometimes more sense to call an opponent who bombed it with your marginal hand, than an opponent who only bets half pot on flop and turn.
Villain 1 has a very strong hand and is going to pay you when you bink
Villain 2 has a weak hand and will not pay you. Here it is better to c/r him off his hand on the turn or bluff him off the river.

In theses spots I have the same feeling I had when I constructed my preflop-ranges. It is OK to start with generic ranges downloadet from somewhere. But only if you truly understand what you are doing you can adjust to your opponents. suddenly AK from HJ is not an automatic 3bet against an UTG raise. But you open 72o from the B against 2 supernits in the blinds...

Afternoon session

2,5 hours, 1124 hands and +28,4BB/100

This was an interesting session. I played very good poker throughout the session but in the beginning I did not get into good spots. I blow off AA again which I hate, but other than that nothing big happened.. so i won lots of small pots and lost one big pot.

second half of the session the donations finally arrived and i banked a nice plus. I found some maniacs so my red suffered but finally they payed me off.

For study I will focus on playing the big blind. I am at -53BB/100 which is horrible. I am not playing good enough there. Furthermore I will have to look into c/r flop and turn for more agression.

Additionally I will start a fitnesscenter membership by thursday. You guys (and ever shrinking pants Smile ) got me into this. I got a very nice deal (€20 p.m.) so i will try to improve my body as well.

For the next few weeks the plan is as follows:

Prio 1 is obviously work
at least 2 hours of poker 5 times a week
at least 1 hour of poker study every day
at least 2 hours of sport per week (1time playing football, squash... and 2 times coordinated training in the fitness center)

additionally I am really trying to find an experienced study-group. I hope I find a good group to further improve my game. Suggestions are welcome.

Pokergoal for 2017: lvl up to NL10 and be a stable winning player there!!

Afternoon session

2,5 hours, 1292 hands and +18,6BB/100

a very swingy session...
200 hands: -200 bb
350 hands: +250 bb
400 hands: 0bb
500 hands: +100 bb
650 hands: -25bb
second half was a slow but steady upwards curve Smile

my biggest losses were KK against AA, and JJ against AA and i stacked off as I wanted to bluffcatch villain... unfortunatly he had it Smile

Quick nightsession

75 minutes, 600 hands and another +18,8BB/100

a bigger bluff failed (discussion in the HH review section) but other than that I played nice strong poker

In increased my 3bet rate significantly. This helps alot, especially from the blinds. The more I am in 3bet pots the better I feel in these situations.

Learning poker really means learning... the theory as well as putting in the work at the tables... I am reading "the grinders manual" now over and over for half a year. Always going back to sections where I need improvement and implement the theory in my play. I think I will need several more month to truly understand what is going on at a poker table.

additionally I am wathing lots of learningvideos.

Finally I want to thank the community of PokerVIP.com for the support during my harder phases and the constant feedback in the HH section. You guys help me sooo much!! Thanks you very very much!!!!

Afternoon session

nearly 1,5 hours - 645 hands - +26,40BB/100

At the moment poker is really really good to me Smile It is good to see the improvement also on my bankroll. With rakeback and bonus clearance i should hit a roll of about 300 in the next few sessions. Then I will start my first NL10 session.

nightmare on my street...

2 hours, 1000 hands -66BB/100

I got coolered sooo many times i cannot count it... lets see what the review says... right now i am just crushed...

additionally i am whining about my "Wild Twister" prformance (3handed everybody is all in) out of the last 35 I won 2!!! what the fuck...

so whining off i am going to analyze what happens and come back stronger

We all have those sessions where everything is against us and always having the 2nd best hand and poker becomes the most frustrating thing ever!

Look at mine from Spins yesterday... going well, and then boom... can't win a thing and all the profit gone just like that!

Lots of positives posts previous, I know you'll come back harder and stronger!
