Again, no money in poker, everyone's solid! Congrats sir!

Also, that card game tourney and race actually sound super fun. I always loved competition (probably why I got involved with poker in the first place) especially in a live tournament format, but I'm not attending any of those at the moment and I think I miss that part of my life. Have fun!

Thanks guys! Next time I'm near bust gonna be when I finally buy a car I can't afford! Laugh Damnn that Audi A5 looks sexy..

Didn't win the card game tournament, just top 6. Lost valuable points in some very tight round endings, variance was a bit rough on me but I think my game was superior. Came 3rd in 5km race with 16:41. I looked up old results and my PB here is actually 15:30. Not bad for my lack of trainings and fact I was racing on painkillers.

Lazy start of month, still not recovered from Saturday night + out of coffee. Damn alcohol, I'm thinking of setting up some kind of upper limit of daily alcohol consumption as it kills productivity.

Anyway, August gonna be glorious!

Alcohol should have a minimum daily consumption, never maximum.

I play a few sites but hardly at all on 888.

Good point.

I was never a big drinker, I could go months on end without drinking alcohol though I enjoy a good cocktail and I've been known to get absolutely shitfaced from time to time. That being said, after last long break from alcohol I find it kinda hard to go back. I think it has a much greater effect on me than it used to. Maybe I'm just getting old... In any case, I think setting up limits is a good idea not only when it comes to alcohol. We live in a world of instant gratification and everyone seems to forget that there's actual value in denying yourself (religions that are thousands of years old are kinda running on this concept and most of them are still reasonably popular).

Bleh, tough week ended with aids day. Did not play well at end, but wasn't meant to win anyway. On the bright side, up some monies although bad variance, so all good. Volume was all right.

This is starting to affect me a bit. Last 60k hands or so. Orange line is sexy, and it will turn around, but it's frustrating to lose most of pf allins. Running good in turn allins, so overall it's not that bad.

Olympics has started, I think it won't affect my volume as time zone and me grinding morning helps - got couple friends competing there! Cheeky

Orange line is a very tricky subject. At its best, it provides us with valuable info about our game, but most us can't react to it without emotional baggage. It's kinda like the amount in your cashier - it's a very important piece of data, but many players benefit from denying themselves the access to that information. I'd argue that for most players not paying attention to the EV line is the way to go. Not sure if it's optimal for you, but you might want to try it. It doesn't mean that the unlucky preflop all-in streak is going to end, but you won't be constantly reminded of it. Besides it's technically possible for you to be under EV for the rest of your poker career soooo... take that as you will.

when the ev line is below the green I am happy because I am running well and when it is above I am happy because I tell my self "at least i'm playing winning poker" so I guess it comes down to outlook.

Oh definitely. While there are solutions that work well for the vast majority of the population there's rarely "one size fits all" approach that will work for absolutely everyone. "All things being equal they are never equal" and so on. That's why I'm a big fan of establishing what's reasonable and then trying different approaches to see what's best in every endeavour poker or otherwise.

Yeah, I have kinda the same approach as @BigBlackClock . After a train wrack session I can look to the orange line and it helps me to get over it. Like in this graph, green line diving for last 100 pf allins, but orange line is solid, therefore I know I've got nothing to worry about in this aspect. But it gets frustrating. Not that I'm spewing because of that.

I remember the worst day of my poker 'career'. I was shot taking NL10, and lost 87$. Ran 4 BI's below EV though. It was a lot of money back than. It was really hard to get over it and because of that I stayed way too long at NL5. Laugh Oh, the good old busto days..

Got any good bets on the olympics? Which are your fav events?
Posted 7 years ago
I don't sports bet. Cheering for all Latvians obv. Beach volley team can do some damage, as well as BMX rider won both London and Beijing. Got a friend running Marathon, but not in the game for podium. One more friend of mine fell 30 sec short to qualify :/ We won't win the most medals, but if anyone followed opening ceremony, no doubt we have the sexiest team! Cheeky

Nice thread and sweet recovery! Will for sure follow! Hows the action on 888 NL50?

Prostaker: Nice thread and sweet recovery! Will for sure follow! Hows the action on 888 NL50?

Thanks! Action could be better, very aggressive environment. Gotta be quick to get the seats, and tables insta breaks when fish leaves. I think many microstakers make the mistake by not table selecting properly. I mean, I pay like 8bb/100 in rake. Whole table pays 48bb/100... There gotta be someone who covers that + extra for profit. If you sit in a game with 2 aggro Russki bots (meaning bigger pots = more rake), 2 b/e regs and 1 fish - you won't make profit unless Jesus seat. 888 also limits to just 6 tables open (often having just 2 running, open sitting 4 etc), therefore hands/hour is not great. But there are also many guys that just do miracles at table which makes poker fun and enjoyable Smile

Butt hurts. Regs outflopped me, fish owned me.

This week might be volume record week. Looks like I'll do 9k weekend challenge, and take Thursday off.
