~60-70% of action was on N8, where I won impressive 330 dollars post RB.

Don't remember when I had previous losing month.

Well, I can vaguely remember that according to those old risk of ruin calculations stating that you need 20-30 buy-ins per limit in hold'em (which was indeed a good rule of thumb in times where 10bb/100 win rate was a common occurrence) a good winning player would on average experience 1-2 losing months in a year (assuming similarly high win rate, solid volume yadda yadda yadda). So yeah, the good news is that you'll only have winning months from now on! I'm sure it will work exactly like that Smile

Not the worst start of the OPL. On TonyBet, right on the money bubble I was shortest with 7.5bb, but got on heat, doubled, tripled and busted fuckin everyone to enter final table (6 handed) as chip leader. But from then I just got card dead, pretty much folded 1/3 stack away and nothing I could do about it. Final hand jammed A3 12bb SB, BB snaps AJs and busted me 4th for 44.50 eur. @Jon-PokerVIP left in top3, lets see if he can close! I guess I can't complain, but 4th spot is irrelevant for leader board imo, must have closures. On Betfair things went other way, blind structure was soooo slow (can it be made turbo? :D). Busted out JJ vs AQ to rivered wheel far from money.

Tomorrow 888!

OPL day 2- no glory at all. Quick bust at N8, uneventful bust at 888 deeper in. Oh well, what can you do.

Shitty news is that I've gotten a bit ill, can't really play / study with full focus. It sucks as I've got this big race on Saturday, so I can't afford to get sick right now. Tomorrow will be crucial, it can go either way atm.

Before I went vegetarian chicken broth was a surefire way of curing any minor illness in a matter of day or two. Nowadays I simply don't get ill since removing meat from your diet obviously grants you immortality and superpowers (duh!) but I suspect vegetable broth can also work wonders Laugh

Yeh the OPL is all about 1st place that's for sure as the extra 20-50 points can make a huge difference. BUT at this stage bagging some FTs is super important so consider it a win bro. Now you just can try always improving on it.

The method for me is just overdosing green / herbal tea + salbutamol. Looks like it has worked yet again!
I suppose you'd become immortal superhuman if you added quality beef and fish once a week to your diet haha

No offence, but this is just funny Laugh

It is funny. I love jokes about vegans, I love jokes about every group (even or especially when I consider myself a part of that group) that takes itself a little too seriously and I actually think this is one of the metrics you can evaluate the state of the groups with. If a member of said group can't take a joke he's probably a bit into it. If most members can't take a joke the group might have a problem.

Speaking of jokes about vegan. Oldie but a goodie:

BRM in PLO is an interesting topic. I don't think anyone can say that "X buyins is the only way to go!". BRM always depends on three factors:

- What are your goals?
- How do you react to losing large portion of your bankroll?
- Is it dynamic or static?

GOALS

If your goal is to get up on stakes, then the BRM needs to be aggressive. Grinding 100 buyins or more per level is just exhausting and takes a lot of time. If you know you are a winning player at certain stakes, you can use really aggressive BRM to get there as fast as possible. On the other hand, if your goal is to grind a certain level, then you want to have a bankroll that can stand the swings. I would say the bigger the better, and if you don't want to drop down in stakes you might want to start with 100 buyins.

REACTION TO LOSING

Most of us are humans, and losing 50% of bankroll in one session can lead to tilt and other mental game errors. If you are prone to frustration when you lose x% of your bankroll, make sure you have big enough bankroll.

DYNAMIC/STATIC

Static bankroll is one where you don't deposit more if you lose some of it. Dynamic means you can add more money to it, which means that you can increase the risk a bit more.

EXAMPLE:

Aggressive BRM to get up on stakes: I often recommend 30 buyin rule. As soon as you have 30 buyin for the current stakes, all the excess is for taking a shot to the next one. And as soon as you drop to 30 buyins for the lower stakes, you move there to get a shot for the next. Like if you deposit 200, you would play PLO10. If you lose and drop to 150 or less, you move to PLO5. Anything that is over 150, is for PLO10. When you get to 300, anything over that is for PLO25. In this BRM you might need to move in stakes up and down. But with 200 starting bankroll, you would need to lose 49 buyins to go broke.

So for BRM there are always both mathematical issues and psychological issues.

Thank you very much for dropping in @Kyyberi ! A lot to think of. I am well over rolled for PLO20 atm, so I guess I will just upper the limits to that as soon as I feel confident in previous level, no need for sample or even winning. If I feel I beat that limit, I will move up. Re-evaluating when reach PLO20.

May the force be with in tonight's OPL events! Made the first knockout (and double up) in 2nd hand at TG, so all going as planned! Laugh

No glory, donkaments are evil
Posted 7 years ago
"MTT's bring more disappointment than dating and selling life insurance combined." They are the nut low of both poker and life (though in all honesty, they are most likely the softest, highest value form of poker out there so you should play them if you have the time). Good luck in the next one!

I remember that the main reason why I don't play donkaments is that back when I started I read / saw a video somewhere where op stated that when you play cash, you mostly win and feel miserable just 40-45% of time, but with tournaments you feel miserable 90-95% of time.

Pretty useful video by wcg:

Here is a thing to think about: you don't have to feel miserable after a poker session.

It's all about teaching your brain to valuate different things. Ask yourself, how do you value your sessions? What is a good session and what is a bad session? If it has anything to do with money, then you don't have 100% control over whether you have a good or bad session. But if you value it by the quality of your decisions, you have 100% control over it.

And that way, even MTT players can have awesome sessions every time.

Yep, I don't feel miserable after losing sessions anymore, but it was true back when I started. Right now it takes a long run bad / losing streak to put me down in abyss when I feel just as wcg describes in that video.

OPL got me good tonight, two key hands. 1) I 3bet AK IP, 1/3 psb Q high F with backdoor FD, turn K and nFD, x/back, river brick, call 80% psb and lose to flopped set of Q's. OK, there goes 50% of my chips. Now I chip up a bit, exploit player sitting out and work a bit up. 2) I get AK MP 20bb deep, open, player who sat out shows up and jams his stack on BU, I call. AKo vs AKo. I lose. Laugh

Anyone knows about wcg's 100-10k challenge? Well, N8 is throwing a promo where player has to do that while streaming IT ALL on twitch, and if player succeeds, he gets 10k$ cash prize. 12 month time limit. 5 bullets allowed. Well, I'm really considering it! I know it's doable. I've done it twice in last 2-3 years. I plan to cover my living expenses from twitch / grind other room besides if needed as I am not allowed to cash out. So, If I succeed, I have 20k$ roll and we can make some real damage with that! I know it will take a lot of time, but if I manage to succeed in 6 months, its sick value for me. Even if finish in 10 months. + taking up twitch 40h/week will gain me new social skills and upper my comfort zone for sure.

What do you guys think of it? Smile

Heading to Sweden tomorrow for a relay, coming back on party boat with bunch of other athletes on Saturday - it might get epic!

...taking up twitch 40h/week... wow, 40h per weak is insane number. GL if you go for it Smile

I think it is an awesome idea for a challenge from N8 and it is defo doable in 12 months especially on a soft room like N8!
Posted 7 years ago
I wanted to try out N8, but the site os not available from The Netherlands.. Sad
Posted 7 years ago
Hello!
So, I'm taking up that 10k challenge! Hopefully it's going to start on Monday - have to set up everything. Very important decision to make - what will be my twitch name? Basically, I want to create something united for twitch / N8 screen name / twitter / facebook maybe to achieve the best possible traction for my stream. MilfGrinder is epic name, but it won't work with mature audience. I had something like 'JSPoker' in mind (JS stands for my initials), but it's taken unfortunately. Any ideas? Shoot it out!

My health is back, and my poker game is well again. It would be nice to enter the challenge while on heater!

Fun hand from Yesterday. Any of you guys can explain my line? And villains? Cheeky
