Day 64 - ran good at only NL100 table I was mixing, ran shitty at 50 in first half, but last session got some heat there as well. I think I've recovered most of 3 BI loss I had at NL100 and now I'm winning there with decent rate again. BR 3557$.

I forgot to shoutout to @Grocker6 who tuned in yesterday!

1) Whoops. I lost one more similar to this one when I got in vs 6 outs. Laugh

2) Annoying sizing, I'd fold vs river jam.

Do you know about Wim Hof? If not, google and youtube that dude. He has some interesting performance skills and world records based on those skills. It's all about breathing exercises, cold showers and zero "voodoo shit". I recently started to use these techniques myself and I'm having significant progress. This should also be a huge thing for those guys, who want to get into meditation, but for some reason can't (boring, no measurable progress, no physical challenges etc.).
Is anyone here using Wim Hof method?

Solid royal flush brag! Looking for my first one of 2017 atm also Smile

Still happy you took on this challenge? Would you recommend n8 to new players?
Posted 7 years ago
@orkaans Nope, first time I read about it. The method looks interesting, I might give it a try. I get this tough moment of day right after lunch when I feel sleepy etc and even double espresso doesn't help right away (caffeine takes up to 60 min to show effect). I'm just powering it through, but some tricks like this method could pay dividends.

@Jon-PokerVIP Heh, I'm not happy, but I know I will be when I reach 10k and this challenges pushes me really hard to actually get the shit done! As for new players, up to 100 games are good most of the time, but at 100 there are players who seem to be online 24/7 and they mix like 12 tables of 100/200 and even 400. They will often battle each other while there will be 2 recs playing HU at other table. And when they join table with recs, they don't Jesus seat but take some random position. It concerns me a bit and I'm now table selecting NL100 even harder. Shame they don't let me into VIP area there, games are allegedly really good!

Day 65 - swingy day. Started well, then 320 downer before I recovered and finished at 3655$. I should get used to these swings, what can you do. Most of downer was KKvAA at NL100 and loosing stack twice with set of 99's against whale.

1) Bleh

2) Bleh, wtf is that jam on flop *****

3) 4bet squeezed pot's seems to be Wild West area. Guy snap called and snap declined running it 3 times.

Nice work on the recovery

Day 66 - a little bit shorter day as don't feel that well, flu epidemic is kicking off around here, really hope I keep healthy, but as I work with numbers, I wouldn't bet on it as people who I contact with got it Laugh Fine day overall, BR 3802$. Weekend will be off and Monday will be the final day of 3rd month.

1) Grrr. He should be 3betting AJ/JJ/KQ most of the time. Anyone going for flop 3bet? I cbet whole range here and I don't 3bet bluff flop with anything, so I flat my value hands too. Post I guess call down with AK should be fine, weaker AX can let go.

Day 67 - Played just morning session where I won some and decided to call it a day just to finish the 3rd month on "high". Yeah, I don't possess perfect tilt control so I try to rig favorable conditions for my mental game. BR 3960$.

Month 3 update: 1470$ profit. ~300 less then 2nd month, could be either to 1) variance, 2) running very hot in 2nd month (which is basically same as variance), 3) Due to shot taking a higher stake. It's probably due to running hot in 2nd month as I'm winning well so far at NL100 (lol sample), and hand wise I played only 5% less this month - I though difference was higher. Funny, but I made 2/3 of profit in last 5 work days. Anyway - it's still almost 3k$ month after my x-book!

Attached Image

Month 4 goals:
1) Have a solid Monday-Friday 10-18 schedule, I was doing 11-19 lately, but ending 19 is too late for having balanced real life;
2) Increase hands played by 15% - you don't get to play that many hands at N8 as game play is almost 2x slower, so it's not that easy to get hands in;
3) Read (book) at least 30 min every day avg (have to make 3.5h weekly);
4) No less then 3x work outs a week (with work out I mean running or xc skiing now in winter);

Day 68 - small loss due to running below EV, but a decent day overall. Quite a bit of interesting spots. BR 3923$.

1) Trap trap trapp

2) Well, I tuned into Jason Les vs Libratus stream to check results just as he lost K flush vs straight flush too heh
Attached Image

3) Wee, CO fun player, don't really see a way to get away from this one as he flatted 4bet. Not sure what I'd do if CO jams hmmm
Attached Image

4) Grr, vs rec. Not sure, not sure. I do block some busted fd's.
Attached Image

5) Annoying - I had 3 big pots going simultaneously and I lost all of them. What about flop / turn sizing? Didn't expect to see a jam as he should be 4betting AK while I have all of AK.

6) Beer

Thank's guys! Yeah, time goes fast and soon we'll reach the mid-point! This challenge is really is pushing me to get my schedule / life balance etc in order. I think if I ever make it big in poker, this challenge will play a big role in it.

Day 69 - fun day again, got in quick start and crossed 4.2k in 1st hour of play, but all of my profit was gone as I headed to lunch break Laugh Fortunately won after lunch and now BR is 4138$. Short day again as I had to take my cat to the vet.

1) Easy comes (new biggest pot of my life)
Attached Image

2) Easy goes
Attached Image

3) Don't try this at home Laugh Probably hand is one of the best candidates for this play as I don't x/r 89, so if I ever bluff here, this should be it. But at NL50 we can get away not bluffing here at all I think. I do have quite a bit of FH combos with this line. Villain is reg and he went into real deep tank before calling it off.

Day 71 - remember the quick start I had yesterday? Today I had one as well. To the negative side. -~300 in 1st hour. Spent most day crawling back while running aids, got real close but lost 75/25 for rostucko and then more. Lost like 140 vs a whale against whom I didn't hit a fkn pair and he just kept firing all the time, and the times I had it, he rivered the shit out of me. Anyway, today was the worst card run in a long long time, I didn't even lost that many cooler spots, just bricking and folding. BR 3874$. I know it's less then 3 BI loss at NL100 (I ran 115$ below EV as well), but funny thing - all of my loss came from NL50. NL100 "shot" still going strong!

Gonna go for a long, slow run in snowy and dark wilderness now, then feed, watch a sad movie, listen to sad songs and gonna fuck the shit out of those fuckers tomorrow!

I could be a buzzkill and say this approach most likely isn't that optimal for a mindset point of view... but then again it sounds exactly like what I'd do 90% of the time so go for it sir! I feel slightly bad about pointing out you were so close to the half-way point because there's no use in making up these arbitrary benchmarks.It's just about putting in some quality volume and I'm sure this is precisely what you're going to do tomorrow regardless of today's results.

No worries, I'm not focused at half way mark at all. When I reach ~7k mark it will become more exciting I guess, but now it's just a grind while sticking to a solid strategy. A funny thing I noticed - now when I play NL100, I don't really care about the monetary aspect of pot size - 200/300 and even 400$ pot feels the same. I guess I've reached that point where pot size just equals to "a lot", which means I'll have easier time when moving up to NL200 (which I plan to shoot at 6k mark - games seems to be the same level as 100).

Day 72 - recovered previous days loss and got into profit in ~3h morning session, then suffered mini downer, but managed to win AKvsQQ all three runs in overtime and BR is 4111$. Fair enough. There was a real player at NL100 table, had not seen one of those in a while.

Might play a morning session tomorrow, so not gonna wrap the week up yet.

1) Player gonna play

2) Grr. Villain is a OK-ish reg, streams for Grinders.bg. I expected him to iso A10/K10/QJ/J10s, so his range was pretty weird in my eyes. Very ambitious call there with QJo imo..

Day 73 - bonus session. Long story short - I found myself down ~250 after 20 min of play and rest was rostucko grind. Fortunately managed to win the biggest pot of my life once again (and by far the biggest profit from single pot as it was 3way all in), but kept losing in smaller cooler spots. It seemed like this would be 3rd losing day this week (never happened before), but got some heat in final minutes of session and finished with small profit: BR 4157$.

1) big one

2) grrrr spew I guess

3) I. Just. Click.

---------------------
week - shy 355$ profit. Volume was all right, but I suffered ~10-12 BI downer at NL50 mid-week. I didn't feel it that much as I was winning at NL100 to cover it, but yeah, it affected numbers.

You're hitting pot size PR's left and right now. Good for you sir!

I'd hate to be 'that guy', but given how often the word 'restucko' shows up in your posts, don't you think you might benefit from introducing a more robust warm-up session into your routine? It's very common for players to lose at the beginning of their sessions because it takes them some time to get into the 'groove' so to speak and if you take care of that before you start playing you might be able to increase your win rate. It's just something to think about.
