Good post by Matt. I often read your stories here and love watching the hands, but this Rostucko thing seems to be a recurring theme. I also have it myself sometimes, and it does help to warm-up with a few hands or some lower level action.

I do have a warm up routine, especially now in winter. First, I have central heating in house, so just right after I get up I have to go outside to get wood and fresh air and get the heating going - kind of a cold shower effect. Then I watch a highly analysed poker hand from Doug Polk / Joeingram1 / some Alec Torelly while I eat breakfast + double espresso. And remember that I stream all sessions - I talk out hands loud and I can't really go autopilot at all. From all of my sessions I feel that I'm the sharpest in mornings! I mean, a 250 downer - it's just 2-3 unfortunate spots, I have as many or even more quick starts as well. Rostucko is just coincidence - like today I had a planned a 11-14 session and I did just that, if I was still down at 14, I'd end session anyway.

I've been thinking about some kind of warm up for post-lunch session though, I often feel really sleepy right after eating and I'm afraid I'm not on my A game then.

@MilfGrinderWhat are you eating for lunch?

I used to eat a carb heavy lunch and an hour or so after eating it I was really tired and wanted to sleep. I think most people who work 9-5 feel like this around 2pm.

I felt like this for a good 2 years.

I then changed it to a protein and fat only lunch and I have so much more energy and didn't feel sleepy or tired. When I work, I really lower my carbs until the workday is finished.

Carbs increase blood sugar which gives you a crash as your liver releases insulin (or something like that).

Funny you mention Alec...literally the guy going under the radar really and has been doing it for a long time. Confirmed crusher in Macau also!

@Harvie Hmm, interesting. I eat carbs for lunch more often then not as they are quick and easy to prepare. Gonna look into it a bit.
Could you give few examples for your protein/fat lunch?

@Jon-PokerVIP I don't think he plays at Macau that much anymore, but he crushed there back in booming years.

Day 74 - Not much to report, pretty straight forward day. BR 4389$.

1) Russian is a reg and there is this trend with overbet jamming nuts going around. I probably overfold when I fold QQ, I have 99, probably 66 as well this deep.

lol the emjois.

So my typical carb free lunch is something like:

3 boiled eggs
3 scrambled eggs + avocado
Fish or meat with greens
Chicken and cashew nuts

I usually go for eggs because they are the easiest to make and don't make me feel 'full'. I might have a small banana or something too, that's only like 20g of carb and won't make you feel tired. Avoid breads, pasta, cereals, oats though, good chance you had enough carbs for breakfast and your body doesn't need any more for lunch unless you've just worked out for a good hour or three.

It may take your body a day or two to get used to it, I was fine right away. Keep in mind that orange juice is sugar too, my breakfast and lunch are usually low carbs.

@Harvie 3 eggs enough for you? Surprised I don't eat very much in breakfast and dine pretty late usually as I work out after "work" more often then not, so I have like 6-8h stretch from lunch to dinner. I suppose a good idea would be to add a quick 2nd lunch (idk the name in English) so I can last my workout and till dinner Laugh

Day 75 - decent day again. BR 4606$.

1) I don't think there is a way how not to lose a stack here

Day 76 - still running good. Got super close to halfway mark, but that's for another day. BR 4965$. Crossed 1k profit for month already (month starts at 17th for me), so lets make this month BIG!

1) Got greedy, 1/3 PSB is much better as he's not calling a jam with AA or AJ but would call 9$ bet Sad

2) Greedy again, but not sure how else to play it with this small SPR.

3) I think I should be able to fold a spade river, calling can't be that horrible as 1) he's betting flop that wide; 2) I don't have that many better hands.

On the KK: why no cbet? And if you check: why X/C instead of X/R? I like cbetting best, I think.
Posted 7 years ago
@guzzlegutz123 Gotta strengthen that x/c range as well. I got a lot of AJ/KQ etc type of hands which I will x/c most of the time and if I don't add value hands in there that can call all the way - I'll get rekt vs decent players. I don't think it's a secret anymore that probing all the way (including big river bet) will show auto profit against most players. You can exploit those regulars who are exploiting that auto profit spot by x/calling all the way with most of your value range. I was considering x/raising this turn card, but I decided to take the risk of spade falling as I expected this villain to go too wild vs missed cbet. So yeah, x/c AA/KK/QQ some% of time and cbet overpairs that needs more protection.

About flop x/r - hard to find bluff x/r combos. A4s/A5s w/bdfd would bee good candidates, but I'm not iso raising those pre - just complete my SB. Same for 87s. So I don't really x/r this flop when there isn't a flush draw out there.

vs weaker players - sure just bet/bet/bet till the Vegas and fkn Mirage! Beer

You're on a roll sir! How many viewers do you usually get? Is your viewership growing and you see this as an opportunity or you're on twitch just for the sake of the challenge?
Posted 7 years ago
@MattVIP It's around 5-15 most of the time. I stream off peak hours as well. And no - I don't have a goal to become twitch famous, just for the challenge. I have to admit that twitching has some positive effect on my play - I have to focus on hands more as I speak them out, I don't facebook/etc aside anymore, so I'll probably stream from time to time even after the challenge.

Day 77 - EV Gods didn't want me to cross 5k mark, but I did it nevertheless. BR 5031$!

1) wtf Laugh

Fish on a heater obv, nothing else..

Day 77 (I had jumped a day) - Had a small losing day, I think I played pretty well and this could have been much deeper loss. BR 4965$. So I made 808$ this week, was close to 1k, but what can you do, still happy for it. Now I'll have 2 days off and back to grind on Monday! I really wish for another strong week in a row. 2nd part of challenge should be mentally easier and also much quicker as well.

1) lol math, lol balance

But seriously, this graph looks pretty damn impressive, especially in the current poker environment. #prayforMG

That actually is my Twitch picture/avatar Laugh

I got this one guy (who is hardcore fanboy for another challenger) coming in my twitch chat saying "you run good", "you don't have losing sessions", "you run better than other challengers" etc. Smile

Day 78 - what a lovely start of the week! Lost almost 300$, which I think is the biggest losing day of the challenge. Just 3 BI's at NL100, and I ran 200 below EV, so whatever, gotta lose that money. BR 4668$. Today I had quite a few PokerVIP members coming in, so shoutout to all of you!

Attention! I decided to fire up a 80$ donkament tomorrow and I'm selling 50% of action!!! You can only buy shares via N8 client as I won't be able to pay you out otherwise (I cannot withdrawal until challenge is done).
Go to Donkaments-->Daily Red 80$ and sweat your investment on twitch! Pretty sure donkament will have a hefty overlay.
