Wish me luck!

Posted 7 years ago

Hello PokerVIP'ers, i'm David and I have been playing poker for about 2 years now.

Like most people I didn't even assume skill was involved until about 6 months ago after reading some material and talking with friends. Watching lots of poker after dark and thinking 'this is easy'.

These last 6 months I have grinded and really put work into the micro stakes, signing up to various poker sites and even had a coach which was not what I was looking for unfortunately and wasted a lot of money to me!
As the nature of poker is, we live and learn!

I am starting fresh on BetVictor and will hopefully grind a bankroll from there, starting at 2nl. I will post graphs every 1k hands or so and would love any feedback tips or general questions on how I'm doing.

Here's my first of many (hopefully) graph on betvictor.

Yeah I have a graph of my 10nlz and below of 90k hands if you want it. Its only breakeven but my redline is horrible. Only recently starting watching yours and adams videos and really helped me be on the lookout for some brilliant spots to increase redline! Also my blueline is smashed in zoom because I wasn't making the folds adam showed in his two part series. I am currently taking a break from zoom as it got kind of monotonous and fancied a break. Also my game was getting stale and playing 4-6 reg tables helps me keep in line with strategy!

Thanks for interest though!

So took a little break after having a punt at PLO and losing my micro BR.

Got me worried and decided I needed to set out some rules for myself.

1. Do not play for too long - I have noticed that when I play long sessions I become so uninterested with small stakes and feel like running it up. I am well aware that this is a problematic sign for future playing.
With that said I'm planning on nipping it in the bud by:

Reminders every 30 mins and an honest reconsider if I really should still be at the tables

Start every session with a 15 minute warm up, be it hand history or a clip of a leak review series here

2. Be committed to reporting my progress here - I cant say how embarrassed I am if people check up on me and ask like 'why aren't you at the tables' and I have to reply some ridiculous story. I should be confident and I think having to report progress on a regular basis can keep me in line with how I treat my poker BR.
I understand its micros but its not the actual money worth its the situation and mind-set. Id hate to think I actually become a good enough player to make some serious money only to punt it once I get bored from a 5k hands day. Ill save myself the money and embarrassment and stick to BR management.

3. Read up and deal with tilt - I pass off tilt as if its a normal part of the game and it is by all means, but its how I deal with tilt that isn't normal. Even being a reasonably logical person a bad beat or getting caught with a bad bluff, still sends me a little over. Far more so at the end of a session. I will definitely read up and watch as many videos on tilt and write some questions down that can allow me to reason with anything that might make me tilt. I should also go through a procedure which will allow me to steam off. I'm thinking exercise with some boxing or just walking away from the computer and making a drink.

Here is the progress after nearly 3k hands and its looking steady 2/4nl on betvictor.

Even if I just write this and feel some commitment to myself I think is better than passively ignoring something that is a major leak!

We make mistakes, we learn and then we crush! Happened to us all buddy and it may happen again. Embrace the pain/variance and just try to keep your head on properly!
