CrazyCookie:
Stay calm and cool brah, the downswings just make you realise you aren't there yet and give you a good opportunity to see how far you have come! A new low is probably higher than you would have thought you would ever reach months ago so keep at it :)

Definately this. A while back I thought I would never recover from a downswing at NL10. Before that I would never win at NL10 at all. If I think back to have good I am now vs where I have come from its leaps and bounds. In reality I have a $670 roll that is deposit free. This year I have won 38BI at NL10. I just lost 4BI at NL25 in a couple of days and suddenly I'm tilting like Helmuth.

And I can be your Hero baby.......

Guy was horrible and on super tilt. Still scary. Normally I expect to see 64s.

In other news my recovery from being smashed up on NL25 is going ok. I'm back up to $700. I exclude NL25 and just look at NL10 I'm winning at 8BB/100 EV after over 30k hands.

Not so good on Sunday Funday. Reg tables are crazy. People running 55/40 or 82/0. Stacks from 500bbs to less than 10. I literally have no idea what some of them are doing. Today though I hit nothing and ran KK into AA, AA into flopped flush (he minraised UTG and called a cold 4bet OOP with K7s) and just got called down when on good draws with 3rd pair. Bad day at the office. Oh well back to real work tomorrow.

Apropos of nothing much my hourly wage from poker this year is $6.62. Mama I'm gonna be a pro poker player!

Fuck you zoom. Played for a few minutes while I was waiting for my wife to get home. Lost 4.5BI. Flopped set into turned straight, turned flush, rivered better set, two pair rivering FH. The only big loss where I didn't have a flopped set was JTs vs TT on JT2 two tone

Every big hand lost or got snap folded. Every bluff called.Terrible day of variance and some tilt. BR down to $650

Today back to reg tables and won 3bi. Was on a super card rush to balance some of the last 2 days. Swings gonna swong yo.

I'm thinking I might post some pics tomorrow as want to add a fitness element to this. On hols this summer and looking for the photos not to depress me as old age takes it's toll.

Back to regular tables, holy shit !

Go for it buddy, table/seat select, bumhunt !

Your winrate will be way higher for sure, you can play lotsa tables, almost like zoom, but you will have hands on everybody.

Yeah I've been reg tabling for a little while after a failed NL25z shot. The game on Zoom the other day was just a wobble. I just bloody love zoooooom.

Yesterday I won a bit more and decided to have a little shot on NL25 reg tables. Some crazy stats falling with 38/2 type guys, 78/55 players, and a whole load of 23/21 tags and 12/10 nits. Not too different to NL10 on the bank hols weekend it seems.

Got pretty lucky here. Probably a bad river call. 3bet I don't hate. Not a huge mistake but maybe calling better EV. Flop bet is fine and could go larger maybe but people like to float A high flops with lots of trash. Turn I go check call as double will fold air/ small PP's. Snap off a half pot. I think this can only be bluff or ATs. Draws would surely take a free card here and my range is still pretty A heavy. River I plan to check call a small bet but he snap jams. The speed of it made me tank instead of fold and eventually I called bullshit on the overbet shove. I just didn't see clubs or QJ 1/2 potting turn IP and the snap jamming and I block QJ as well. Sets I doubt can jam on 3 flush river vs my line. They are asking to get stacked.

Or I just leveled myself into calling a river jam with TP only in a 3bet pot with 3 straight and 3 flush coming in and got really lucky!

NL25 shot is continuing. I'm now 3k hands in and winning at 5bb/100 EV (10 bb/100 overall). Won't take long to reverse that if the tilt mode is engaged. I'm finding the level of fish pretty bad actually on the reg tables with some crazy stats and plays.

On the other hand I'm playing super passive and my redline is taking a real battering (hero call about excepting). I seem to get jammed on a lot with my mid strength hands and I'm not calling them. As a result my WTSD is down to 20%. I'm basically doing all the aggressive things less. Cbet down to 45% from 60% ish. Fold to flop cbet is too high. All my fold stats are too high (flop cbet, PF3bet, river bet, float etc) i.e. over 70% which means the good players can run me over but there are so many fish who only bet when they have it and never fold anything that fat value is working well so far. I will need to adjust my lines though as it will be too high variance if the only way I make money is making big hands and being lucky enough to have a fish catch a piece and not outdraw me.

I need to be break even or winning small vs the regs I think.
Posted 9 years ago
Hey man, you,re winning at 10bb/100 over 3,000 hands at NL 25, that is awesome ! Fuck the other stats if they are playing like spewtards and you have to play a little weak/tight or weak/passive to beat them who cares about the stats, just take the money. If I had that winrate at NL25 I would look at those stats and say who cares ? Ya so the regs can beat you if you play that way, just keep an eye out and adjust to whom you are playing.
Well done !

I wouldn't even look at stats with 3k hands... Take your shots and after 10k hands have a look at stats. Trying to change when you can just have had bad hands at the wrong time is kinda pointless Wink
Posted 9 years ago
Yeah I'm not doing much with it yet but I definitely am being too passive. I am passing up +ev spots to minimise variance on the shot. If I can establish myself I can leverage my aggression up a bit. I think 10k hands is a nice check point if I get there. Also need to get a video done at this level.

Which site are you on? 25nl is probably the first level where the games are fairly drastically different based on site. 25nl on pkr, unibet, sky and similar is going to be massively beatable. On stars sure it is beatable for a decent winrate but its going to br a lot harder! I would also suggest tightening up your range for now and then you will have clearer aggression spots post flop as you have stronger hands in your range more often Smile
Posted 9 years ago
I'm on Stars now. Went back for a great rake back offer they had that cleared me near on $150. It's definitely tougher here but software and traffic are brilliant. I'm sure I'll move again at some point but moving my money around too much costs me loads as they all screw you on exchange rates. I'm gonna play here for a fair while I think. I've had a decent time in other sites. 888 and Stan James were rubbish but Paddy Power was pretty good and have played a bit on Sky as well. When all the RB changes settle down I'll look again but now given lower rake and the nice bonus they gave to bring me back to Stars here it's best net rake per hand for me.
Posted 9 years ago
Oh and I am being tighter PF. Just part of my generally weak tight play!
Posted 9 years ago
Just make sure not to take other sites off your radar! Stars is great but Defo not the best place to make money!
Posted 9 years ago
Why you say that? What's your view on the best then? I'm always up for trying somewhere new. Needs good traffic though in evenings and weekends as with real life work and family mean I need to play in short chunks and lots of the other sites it took me ages to start any tables.
Posted 9 years ago
Coz stars is so much tougher than elsewhere Wink its beatable for sure buttttttt 25nl elsewhere is beatable for 2x as much. PKR is pretty good for example Smile I work full time and managed to get in 20k hands in march. I get around 450/500 hands/hour and there is regually 9+ tables at 25nl (9 I Max tables you can have open)
Posted 9 years ago
OK I'll have a look there when I'm ready to move again. The advantage of Stars is I can filter for Players to Flop 30% plus for example and still have loads of tables to choose from on NL25 and NL10. So far I've come across lots and lots of fish at NL25. Sometimes I look up and realise they are all gone and its 6 20/18 players spinning the blinds back and forth or I get to a table and everyone is sitting out and leaving (meaning I'm sitting in the spot the whale just got stacked in) but generally I think every table has at least one bad player I can target. If there is a good player to my left I generally just leave and go somewhere else.

I'm not really in it for the money either I suppose. If it was about money I should stop bothering about this and work harder as my real life job hourly is higher than I will ever get from pokerz. If Stars has tougher players then so be it I'll enjoy playing them and stay at NL10 or NL25 rather than making money to hit the good players at NL50 on PKR. Who knows I probably only feel like that because I'm doing OK right now. I'll get runover by some regs next week and be running for the fishy hills somewhere else.

Haha I meannnnnn is winning more money not fun for you? Wink I love it when a whale calls me down with nothing and I have the nuts or we stack AA v A4o for 60bb Wink there are still tough players on pkr- 200nl players will play at 25nl and 50nl when there are no games running for example Smile
