The Series got underway last night as usual with Event #1: $565 Casino Employees Event.

23 players from the 731 entrants return later today, all guaranteed over $2k but no doubt dreaming about replicating last years champ Brandon Barnette to take home the bracelet and $75k top prize! Spencer Bennett holds the chip lead with 627,000 and there are still 4 female players still in the loop!

Today also sees the first 2 flights of the $565 Colossus NLHE event which has $7million guaranteed and last year saw a huge 22,374 entries over the 4 starting flights. With 6 Day 1's this year and a boosted GTD prizepool, this number is sure to increase and again break the record for the biggest ever live tournament!

Well, the first event is in the bag with Christopher Sand taking down the Casino Employee's Event for a nice $75,156 with his pocket kings holding against the pocket 7's of the runner-up, Britain's Kerryjane Craigie, who banked over $46,000

Also yesterday was the first 2 starting flights of this year's Colossus, of the 5,402 entries so far 228 are coming back for Day 2, and with 2 more starting flights over each of the next 2 days, last years figures are set to be broken! Each flight will also have it's own money bubble as this year they are paying 15% of the field

This Colossus is just insane but lord if I was there I would have stayed well away from the RIO that day. A couple of years ago when i played I think maybe this event or a special super stack thing it was a complete zoo. Great value n all but 6 hour delay just to sit down and people running round like headless chickens. I then busted day 2 with KK < 56 in a cold 4bet pot and a 478 flop. GFY

Colossus Update: 435 players have made Day 2 from the 12,271 entrants so far in the first 4 flights. The final 2 are today. Big names already in the bag for Day 2 include Michael Mizrachi, Maria Ho, Scotty Nguyen and Tom Middleton

Also today is the $10,000 Seven Card Stud Championship which should see some big names playing. Will be keeping an eye out on social media for any updates!

Well the biggest story out of the WSOP so far is Chris "Ferguson" Jesus playing the $10k Stud Event, social media has been awakened with discussion and varying degrees of thoughts about this!

You can read the full story HERE

Ferguson didn't last long in the Stud event, but 33 from the 87 entrants are back today for Day 2, including Phil Hellmuth, George Danzer, and Brandon Shack-Harris. 14 of them will be paid a minimum of $14,500 with $242,662 up top!

Day 2 of the Colossus is also today with 846 remaining from the 21,613 total entries securing a $10,806,500 prize pool

I wonder if anyone says anything to him? BTW who actually thinks he has much to do with the downfall of FTP?

I gotta say he is pretty brave to set foot in that room - he must be super nervous or incredible brash

Loving the "I'm just here to play poker" toeline. He is brave, he's obviously setting his intentions and I'm sure he's going to be playing in quite a lot of events this year.

Does this also open the door for Lederer?

2 Bracelets will be awarded today as we see both Event #3 $10k Seven Card Stud Championship and Event #4 $1k Turbo Top-Up play out to a winner.

In the Seven Card Stud, Robert Mizrachi is leading the final 6 looking for his 4th Bracelet. The final is stacked with bracelet winners including George Danzer and David Benyamine in the hunt to add to their collection!

Just read that there's 14 bracelets between the 6 on the final table of the Stud! Only one guy who has yet to win so rooting for him!
