20NL: AA facing big ch/raise

Posted 6 years ago

Villain is a semi-aggro, bad reg I think. He called a 3bet OOP UTG with 67s and than ch/raised big on A77tt, which is one of the only notes I have on him. No HUD available on this skin.

How to proceed OTF? Cbet seems standard. The other player in the hand is a fish.

** Hand # 6599740637 starting - 2017-06-23 16:23:52
** Ciaren - €20 Max [Hold'em] (0.10|0.20 NL - Cash Game) Real Money

MagicznyGrajek777 sitting in seat 1 with €22.70[Dealer]
gsbarca sitting in seat 2 with €19.70
OGKushPL sitting in seat 3 with €27.36
Dmitriy VK sitting in seat 4 with €13.46
Hasimba sitting in seat 5 with €23.42
HERO sitting in seat 6 with €24.38
gsbarca posted the small blind - €0.10
OGKushPL posted the big blind - €0.20

** Dealing cards to HERO: AA
Dmitriy VK folded
Hasimba folded
HERO raised to €0.60
MagicznyGrajek777 folded
gsbarca called - €0.50
OGKushPL called - €0.40

** Dealing the flop: 2QJ
gsbarca checked
OGKushPL checked
HERO bet - €1.40
gsbarca called - €1.40
OGKushPL raised to €5.90
HERO...?

When I put all KTo, KTs, QJo, QJs, T9ss, K9ss, TJss, 22 in his range I have more than 50% eq. So get it in here? Having the A discounts a lot of nut flushdraws that he might have. Without the A this is an easy ship right?

Having As it's bad for you because you block his FD ,i think it's a fold since the other player it's a fish ,i don't expect to play agrro draws with him in pot ,this sizing look value 4x .

you never want to GII here - you either want to call OTF or fold - you never want to rejam it here - besides if villain is some insane fish / whale - he is raising vs you into an uncapped range - he prob. either has a sick combo draw here or two pair +.

Usually people will just call their draws though and always fastplay their value on these boards.
He prob. 3bets QQ JJ at least some of the time - so his value range here is 22 and ofc QJ for the most part. You still have reasonable equity vs a hand like QJ - and well he can have some draws some of the time for sure. So I would probably call OTF here - and basically see what the turn brings and what he does. I would never reraise and GII - you basically already gave him a really wide range - and you are ONLY flipping vs that range - this really is not a spot we want to take.

We are IP, there are a bunch of good turns, so let's play some turns.
Folding flop is honestly not the worst option either, either he is drawing to a bunch of outs or you are decently behind, it will never be a really profitable flop spot, just passing on it is certainly viable.

You also have the fish behind, which usually is pretty capped here, but some non 0% of the time he will also wake up with a good hand.

But yeah I'm peeling here for the most part.

Scrubx how do play T ? The best card on T it's 2 ,if you peel F you must play the whole stack ,you can't fold on blank and can't fold on spade since you got extra equity . He should donk F with any tp at least with the fish in pot ,i think his c-r range it's only value and he's c-r big same with the 67 on A77.

You can still fold on blanks, there is always a chance that he just checks his draws OTT if they brick.
You can't generalize a turn strategy here, it depends on the exact card and depends on waht villain does. You know villain could always just check for example, it is not set in stone what he will or won't do OTT.

E.g. on spades he might easily check even hands like QJ - so e.g. on spades we can check back and get to realize our equity over 2 streets - e.g. vs a hand like QJ we still have 31% equity OTF.

But TBH if you already don't know how to play certain turns and what you should do on certain turns you probably should just fold flop, it won't be super easy to play turns. So if you want to avoid a though spot just fold flop, folding flop is certainly a fine play.

Thanks for the comments guys. I folded, but it felt a bit weak maybe.

Especially with the fish in the pot aswell, he might call some more draws to keep it multiway and extract value from the fish if he hits.

Folding is perfectly fine m8 Smile don't worry about it !
