25 plo Checking as PFRer to Checkraise

I open this pretty number from the CO and Btn calls with around 45 BB. I flop fairly well and elect to checkraise here for a number of reasons. If it checks through I am happy to bet a lot of turns and bet call a lot of pair plus draw turns and not be too upset about it checking back. I expect Btn to bet this board a lot when I check as it looks to be a check give up and we are shallow so if I checkraise get it in terribly it is not so bad and I can pretty much checkraise get it in here for this stack size on the flop. QKJT9 turns are decent as are diamonds and 8s. Btns stabbing range here should be fairly wide. Here they stack off with bottom 2 and a gutter and are a 2:3 dog (40/60%). It is good to have some checkraise range on boards like this to protect from your checks being transparent, and in this situation I could have just as easily bet got it in but elected for the check get it in.

Sound as a Pound!

Very well played! This type of board is likely to have missed a lot of your opening range so players can take a stab even if they haven't connected as much as this player has in this instance.

Think I would prefer to run this once though tbh

Why? EV doesn't change, no matter how many times you run it.

1 - a personal preference and 2 - we're roughly 60/40 with the worst hand at the minute, much prefer to only see 1 turn and river, realise our equity and take the pot down there and then

I run it more than once generally here due to lower player traffic as it keeps people in the game and more players at the tables and also I don't mind having 35-40 bb stacks at the table as these are generally easy to play against and it is difficult to make a significant error against them. I also think some players are more inclined to gamble with you if you run it more than once.... they want to play the hand but don't want to bust out of the game.

For me the only reason not to run it multiple times would be if I want to have a deep stack (there's a good customer in the table with big stack).

"I don't mind having 35-40 bb stacks at the table as these are generally easy to play against" How? Thinking

@trinity25 The guys on my direct left and I find a short stack to my left is easier to play against. Pots have less streets of action, their capacity to leverage their stack is less, there are a lot more straight forward spots, I think ranges are easier to figure out as peels are less frequent... Primarily though I think it is the factor that positional advantage increases with stack depth, and the positional advantage in PLO is significantly more important than in holdem.

A soft factor is also rake in micros is capped real high, whereas in high stakes games it can be in the players interest to try and play bigger pots as the capped rake will mean a percentage of the pot is not raked.

*edit* another quick point, short stacks often lead to more heads up all in situations, and less multiway pots where you frequently need to be relatively nutted to win at showdown.

"Easy to play" isn't the same thing as "maximum +EV to play". Smile
