50nl 99

Posted 7 years ago

I have 99 and I am player 7.

I called the 3bet because this player has been 3betting me a ton (he's a reg running 24/21 with 14% 3bet over 1k+ hands), I did not love 4betting although I think in hindsight this is a better play against aggro 3betters than calling?

He's been very agro during the last hour and I expect him to always bet the flop with anything really. Are you calling here or raising given his agro dynamic? I feel if I raise I do fold a lot of his junk given the 14% 3bet, flip side board is quite wet.

If you wanted to 4bet, I take it it's for value then? The only thing then isdo we call off if he GII? Or how do we play if he flats and we're OOP on lots of awkward flops. I think calling is just fine.

I guess we can x/c if he's really aggro and he can convince himself we have a FD or JJ etc.
If he has too many bluffs then maybe by raising the flop we lose too much potential 'aggression implied odds' , there might be a FD but I think it might be the risk we have to take and not worry about it given the potential value.

Not a heads up player, but if we're forced to widen our value range versus aggro 3 bettors surely 99 is well in there unless we have an obvious read that villain doesn't shove wide.

As played I much prefer check calling given we expect villain to have a really wide range. Board is wet for sure, but if his range is so wide then you shouldn't be walking into trouble very often.

I think the call pre is fine. Vs aggro play I'd start with a call. He'll often keep vbetting his value hands on the turn but also anytime he has a bluff it's really easy for him to pick up a crummy draw on the turn that he can convince himself to keep bluffing with. Any spade brings in some flush draws, any Tx beings in broadway draws, 8x 7x maybe even 5x brings in some gutshots. Other than the spade I don't think any of those will slow down villain's value range but could allow him to fire again with next to no equity.

99 might be getting dangerously close to the preflop shove territory if you have particularly aggressive dynamic vs. this guy.

As for the post flop, if he's not over aggro on the turn I kinda like raising this flop since HU you want to raise a bit wider anyway (given relatively wide ranges you see the flop with).
