5NL - QQ

No reads, anon. Another hand in 3Bet pot where I feel confused. I checked back the turn to control the size of the pot and also because there are likely a lot of A's in his range. The board pairing on the river and the bet had me hit the fold button. At the time I didn't think he'd lead river with a worse 2P than Aces and the board. I figured he'd lead with at least trips or better. Weaker 2P would likely c/c river. Should we find the fold or call here on the river?

I think this is a close spot... He definitely has bluffs. Your check on the turn shows weakness so he might bluff with a missed draw such as QJs but I would expect him to choose a larger sizing. But he has a lot of value too, more value than bluffs.

I would probably play the hand the same as you and fold. I agree with what you said; "Weaker 2P would likely c/c river".

I think this is a pretty easy call. Lots of pairs were counterfeited so villain will bluff here a bunch.

Would he have many pairs that would call a 3bet pre & the flop? I'd expect 22-66 to fold PF OOP, if not, then fold the flop. JJ & 77 would rarely lead river I'd imagine

An unknown can have such hands as 22-66 of course and people at nl10 don't like folding PP preflop to 3bets these days as often as they used to imo. On that paired board a PP will float a lot as well.
My reasons for calling would be because villain hasn't bet big on the river and the turn went chk/c.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Ax or even an underpair (given the turn action) but I'd call anyway, make a note and move on.

Don't check back the turn. Just not a great idea to give free cards when there are bunch of draws out there. Obviously we don't want to lose a ton of money against trips or Ax though, so the best solution is usually to underbet turn. The smaller sizing allows us to get value, and we can often just check/back the river after betting turn for an easy showdown.
