Yeah looks like a stack off to me against non-full stack. Can easily be shoving any Jx here or draw like T9, QT and other random stuff.

By default sure, though I can see some fringe situations where you could find an exploitative fold. That being said, you're very happy to shove here most of the time.

Yeah call off. Enough Jx , T9, QT etc that they will shove like this. Are you always gonna win. Well no. Sure he can have 33 88 J8 or some random slow played overpair, however, on average you have EQ>pot odds vs the entire range of hands that he can show up here with.

The only way you could fold this is if you knew he was doing this with only sets and 2p. If he starts adding in a decent amount of Jx and draws then its an easy call. In my experience they will shove almost any TP in a spot like this.

Yeah I knew it was an easy call here, just wanted to double check I wasn't overlooking something. Mofo limp-called and shoved flop with J8o. All I could do was laugh. Rolling on the floor laughing

Well at least you took it all in stride. You had more than 2 outs as well, so not that bad.

I think this hand kind of illustrates the thinking pretty well:

Hand Conversion Powered by WeakTight Poker Hand History Converter
$0.05/$0.10 No Limit Holdem Prima
4 Players

Blinds$0.05/$0.104
CO fallenarm $6.30
DHero $11.41
SB Hasimba $12.30
BB GonzalezBlanco $10
Preflop
4$0.15Hero is BTNJJ
fallenarm raises to $0.30, Hero raises to $0.90, 2 folds, fallenarm calls $0.60
Flop
2$1.654T8
fallenarm checks, Hero bets$1.30, fallenarm goes all-in $5.40, Hero calls$4.10
Turn
2$11.15, 1 all-in 5
River
2$11.15, 1 all-in 3
Final Pot$11.15
Hero shows JJ
fallenarm shows TA

Hero wins$12.55 (net +$7.55)
fallenarm lost $6

Now if he was paying attention he may have picked up on something, but not sure it would have made any difference.

Yeah what I've seen from flop shoves from weaker players is that it's an indication of made/vulnerable hands that are looking to try and end the hand right there. If they flopped 2P or a set, they'd min raise or raise a different amount and not shove. When they shove there's a chance they can miss value from their strong hands. Their thinking is odd and inconsistent, but in this JJ spot you can comfortably get it in and expect to win most of the time.

Half stacks tend to overplay their hands too, for example if they have KJ/QQ/JJ and the flop is K27ss it's not uncommon to see them go with their hand (esp with weak Kx holding at around 60bb or less). At around 80bb+ is when I start thinking if we should fold our QQ when they shove.

A lot of them have the "I wanna quickly double up or I'll do something else".
