AJQTds in 4b pot

Posted 7 years ago

This one got a bit tangled. Button is 33 24 with 41 steal and 11% 3b. The 4b is primarily going to be AAxx heavy. The SB is looser than his stats might indicate in terms of how he plays. He looks to play a tighter range than a lot of the looser competent players but is quite a bit more splashy pre and post than most. If that makes sense... I don't feel it does. Basically I am trying to say he plays a loose range on the tighter side of loose but can splash around with hands that probably he shouldn't. The SB is 33 22 with 7% 3b.

Were action called to me I would be 3b getting this in Vs Mer. We have played a lot together and have history. When SB 3b I call and Mer 4b and SB calls I figure SB has some kind of middish moderately connected / suited rundown or pair with suits like he has or JT97ss / KK58ss etc. I overcall with the AQJTds as it is quite a nutty hand and flops well a lot.

I understand Mer is not deep, but I think my hand plays particularly well against T14 for a sidepot. I can crush his stackoff range and overnut his draws / made hands. This is inspite of the AQJTds's proximity to AAxx ( the closer the run is to ace high the more being against AAxx hurts it's outs).

Flop I think is just in and hope to not be into nutflush.

Any viable alternatives to how I played this? Anyone want to call me out on some BS I have said here that doesnt make sense? Laugh

Thanks.

@Kyyberi@redrooski24 You might be some of the few PLO players here. If you have the time, please have a look at this and a couple of other PLO hands I posted. Ty.

Preflop call is fine, as you will dominate SB hands and you have position to him. When BTN 4bets, he has Aces. When SB calls, there is so much money in the pot that you have easy odds for calling and on the flop you have to get it in.

Well played. Smile

P.S. It is so rare to see PLO hands that I have missed them. Glad you tagged me so I could see them.

This is a hand I would be cold 4betting PF. You are pushing a decent bit of equity against a SB vs BTN 3bet range and more importantly, flop a bunch of hands where you dominate a get in range on the flop (better 2pr, overstraights, etc).

Given how it played out PF, flop is a totally normal stack off. Folding would be pretty terrible.

Hope that helps,
Sean
