On a bit of a downswing lately so any advice is much appreciated.

Villain is 28/18 Aggression 2.3 3 bet 6.7 over 40 hands

Flop - I made a 3 quarters pot bet to get value from his Aces with top 2 pair. I was going to call any raise as well if he would have made one.

Turn - Again 3/.4 pot to get value from worse Aces and anything that now has picked up a flush draw.

River - I'm leading River for value. When he raises the river I know at 5nl this is usually only done with the nuts (or close) but the only sets I really put him on at the time was with a pair of two's as he hadn't 3 bet preflop and I couldn't see him floating the flop with a pair of 5's.

Would you guys have played this any differently or can I just chalk this up as just running into the top of his range this time? .

You played it ok. It s hard to fold on river and he might have 2 pairs in those spots sometimes. I think on turn and river I would've bet bigger(1 - 1.1 on T) and bigger on R and this way it becomes easy even when you are beaten, you will be pot committed and you're not gonna think you made a bad call when he shoves.

I don't think there's anything else you can do here other than stack off as played. Not going for three large streets of value here is going to cost you significantly in the long run. When we get raised on the river we're never thrilled but obviously cannot consider folding here at all. I like your sizing on every street and overall I would expect to be getting massive amounts of value from worse Ax here more often than not. Nice hand overall, just an unfortunate result.

Villain does looks a little passive, but his stats indicate that he's not a great player either, so could be capable of overvaluing worse aces up combos.

Your bet sizes look fine but it's possible that up against a weak player you could have gone a bit larger.
