Flop cbet OOP w/ range NLHE

Posted 7 years ago

Hello!
The spot I'm curious about is when we open EP/CO and we get a singe caller from BTN/CO and we see a HU flop being out of possition.

Flop comes low and paired - 775 for example. Which hands do you cbet, which x/call and x/raise (if any)? And what sizing you choose? Also, what changes if flop comes 775 rainbow?

Thank you in advance!

I have been working on things like this from different positions and on different flops. Firstly by listing my OR and then separating each hand into categories, cbet value, cbet bluff, c/call, and c/fold. I seem to come up bluff heavy on certain flops in certain positions, so I will be interested in what others say too.

whole range+small sizing on this flop

This scenario is really interesting. Not often Equitys run so close and no one really have a big "crushing the board" advantage. Below is picture of EQ for UTG vs BTN.

We do want to bet all our pairs ofc for value. So we need some bluffs in that range. Pick the ones with with good barreling opportunities and that has the best implied odds like FD's. JTs etc.

We need to bet/call, bet/raise our strongest pairs and draws and can bet/fold our weakest pairs plus our air.

Then there are some hands that i see no point in cbetting like KQo etc that has little EQ vs his range and we get him to fold 0% better hands.

So if you would like to c/f some of those hands we need som hands that can c/c too. AQ is good for this imo since it also dont get any better hands to fold but has okay SD value, Mix in some strong hands like AA once in while and this range is also somewhat balanced.

@Prostaker Pretty good post! Makes the picture clearer. But on occasion when there are 0 draws out there, like 992r flop? If we bet our pairs+ for value, it will get very hard to find bluff combos to bet with, should go for backdoor SD's and BD FD's where we will check/fold often as most cards do not unlock backdoor on turn.

On 7h5h7s flop I suppose we go for sizing like 2/3 PSB? What about dry board like 992r?

Think around half pot for both boards since there wont be many FD's in anys range so we dont need to adjust to much to that. 992 board is basically the same. The caller wont have more 9x then 7x and he wont have any 68 64 either on the 775 so basically the same board.

About the the bluff combos for 992 you are correct about what hands to pick and we need to continue to fire sometimes with just random overcards on blank turns to be balanced with our overpairs. C/C the weaker pairs and c/f some of our air.
