K9s NL 25

Posted 7 years ago

I have only just started raising K9s utg, along with Q9s and J9s, as it seems in all the opening ranges of equilab, maybe its for better players than me, idk. Flop the 2nd nut fd, and seems an easy cbet even v 2 players, get raised and again seems an easy call especially as an 8 adds more equity. I am thinking at this stage he raises mostly with sets though not beyond bounds he can have nfd too. Turn completes flush and he bets large, feel I gotta call as he probably has more sets than nfd, but when he shoves the river I feel beat as his sets becomes a boat, would he really shove nut flush when the board pairs? My questions are what size bet would you call on river with 2nd nut flush, or if the board didnt pair would you call a shove?

I'm not opening K9s from UTG unless both players in the blinds are super fishy, can't see us making money otherwise. I'd just be shoving the turn, their sizing suggest they aren't folding anything and several cards on the river can kill our hand.

I fold on the river now, because we now lose to all sets.

Pre

K9s is standard open UTG, but rake at nl25 might make it a fold.

Flop

All three options are available, but I think cbet is the best.

Turn

Good call. You want to keep calling your whole range here.

River

He has a many Adxd combos, but he rarely has worse flush combos. All the sets and 76s got there OTR also. I think you have to fold.

Pre: I fold K9s typically UTG, it's around the top of my folding range though so I don't mind the open at all.

Flop: I'm cbetting this board all day long, when we get raised I like the flat.

Turn: Villain has shown a ton of strength and has not slowed down on the flush card, I like just shipping it in here. I wouldn't be shocked to see a set here at all and people hate folding sets, even if the obvious flush has gotten there. He will sometimes show us the nut flush but if so I chalk that up to a cooler, shoving for value still seems best to me.

River: Really gross action on the river, it's so hard for villain to be bluffing here at this point. I expect to see a boat here very frequently, I reluctantly fold.

Preis a fold for me but it's close with KTs being a default open.

Flop looks good.

I would shove the turn for value against sets and worse flushes which might find a fold on a diamond river.

As played I would fold the river for this bet size. You'll see a full house just too often.
